    I was LITERALLY looking up the effects of resveratrol last night as it popped up in a article I was reading. Halfway curious of its “benefits” I was looking into how much the supplement costs and fell asleep while searching. I wake up the next morning and see this video as the first recommendation in my RUclips feed. Thank you for being so thorough and quickly saving me $30-60 on an unnecessary supplement. You’re awesome!

    No Dr Greger, it is not written "fish oil capsules" into the study, it is written "omega 3 fatty acids", like the DHA/EPA from algae oil that you recommend as a supplement.

    I managed to extract resveratrol from Japanese knotweed roots, I did use alcohol do to it, but they say there are more medicinal compounds in this weed. Thanks for the heads up anyway, doc!

    Noice 😎, this is why I prefer all the berries (in a decent amount, not too much), not for the compound discussed in the video, but the great flavor and how well it fits with my rolled oats.

      He is the first to acknowledge there is little data of the effectiveness of resveratrol in humans, he just takes a gram every morning because he believes it can only help him.

    Vitamin A eat a carrot Omega 3 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds or chia seeds Whole Foods not pipe dreams

      I do carrots, flax, chia, and hemp seeds every day, as well as Omega 3 high epa fish oil, salmon oil, and often sardines or salmon itself.

      @@peterkuskis3825 There is no need for fish oil salmon oil or eating sardines and salmon AT ALL. Why kill innocent beings when the best source is in plants? The fish themselves get their omega 3 by eating plants so go directly to the source. By eating fish flesh you are eating their suffering and saturated fat, cholesterol and metal contamination (yes we humans have totally polluted the ocean). Please get Dr Greger's book HOW NOT TO DIE. (and also check out DOMINION on youtube)

      @@animalsarebeautifulpeople3094 Hey, bro. I bought Dr. Greger’s book. Good stuff. I deliberately choose salmon and sardines because they have been measured to be the least contaminated of all fish. Anchovies too. I love tuna and grew up eating a ton of it, but I am concerned about the mercury content. I have steadily been detoxing with much fasting and cruciferous and broccoli sprouts etc., etc. It’s horrible how we have contaminated our food sources here on earth-it’s a sin for sure!

    I love how people try to defend their addiction to wine saying that it has health benefits. Even if they see the study don't accept.
    So, if you don't want to accept, please don't debate with someone who believes that hydroxychloroquine works, for example. Both of you uses selected points in the scientific literature.

    I love grapes! Black or red ones especially. But I have heard so many good things about resveratrol supplements as well lately...so I take something called Resvera-Pro. Also high EPA fish oil that totally extinguishes inflammation in a palpably felt way, so what do I know? If it feels like it’s working it probably is.

      There are vegan omega 3 supplements you can get. Fish oil is unnecessary - fish themselves get their omega 3 by consuming plants so go to the source directly - no need to kill innocent beings

      @@animalsarebeautifulpeople3094 Yo, bro. I have tried algal oil and it is good. I have even heard of a phyto-plankton supplement that is amazing. Look how big whales get! But I would rather eat fish like salmon to get all the other goodies, astaxanthin, protein, zinc, other minerals, etc. Did you know God said we could eat fish? Even Jesus made and ate fish and bread for breakfast with his disciples:) Yummers!

      @@gabrielgagne3850 Dude, it completely douses inflammation. They test for the levels of that stuff too. Would rather avoid tuna and other high mercury fish than a good fish oil supplement that gives me all kinds of benefits.

      @@peterkuskis3825 I must of used bad grammar, I think an plant based omegas are more beneficial because they have less contamination, lower in the food chain and stationary... salmon migration is mainly in the pacific, where Japan will dump their nuclear waste soon

    Why do researchers like Dr Longo suggest that it might be beneficial then? Are they just making PR money? It doesn’t make a lot of sense that this chemical has received so much media attention if it doesn’t do what’s being suggested. Thank you for doing these videos debunking the myth, Dr G.!

      Dr Longo also recommends olive oil and fish, because it is his traditional italian way to eat. Nothing scientific about it.

    Only problem is that grapes cause huge insuline spikes. Their basicly sugar water. Which would suggest bad for health.

      How many grapes do you eat? Because eating a max of 20 doesnt give you a high insuline spike, nothing to worry about.

    Has far as I am aware a glass of red wine with your meal breaks down the proteins and makes for far easier digestion. Another reason why southern Europeans also eat salads with dressing with their meals most of the time. Southern Europeans are big salad eaters and also big wine drinkers. They also tend to be healthier than their northern neighbours.

      It probably has nothing to do with wine and more to do with less consumption of meat and dairy as compared to northern neighbors

      @@amir3515 They like their meat and dairy. Goats milk is great for the back, they like their yogurt too. Southern Europeans are big meat eaters.
