  • I show in excruciating detail how to take apart a Logitech C615 HD webcam, remove the IR cut filter, and replace with a IR pass filter. More info on my blog posts: phyzblog.blogsp... and: phyzblog.blogsp...

      @@gregh3729 because you removed the god damn filter!, that's why it's there... the near IR looks puble ish... so removing the filter makes all your footage look purple.
      If you want to fix it you need to adjust it with a video editing software and adjust the HUE, it's not going to look as good as with a filter, but you chose to remove it to gain night vision.

    For removing the IR filter. Would warming up the glass with a soldering iron loosen the glue enough to pry it out?

    • @kilroi22
      @kilroi22  Год назад

      I would try prying it out gently first but warming it up would be a good alternative. A hair dryer might work and not be as hot.

  • @t1d100
    @t1d100 3 года назад +2

    As other have asked, but was not answered... Would this be helpful (good enough) to find hot, faulted components on a PCB board?

    • @svampebob007
      @svampebob007 2 года назад +5

      no, this is near IR, not close enough to IR to see heat.
      The way you can tell that this would not be useful is the fact that when he points it at the lights or him self you don't actually see "the hot stuff" , when he points it at himself you only see the refelcted near IR light lighting him up, if it was IR his eyes would glow brightly.
      Also the remote control test would look black in IR, since the remote control is not actually warming up the $20 bill.

    have you tried surrounded that webcam with iR light and then try facing that ir camera through desktops, boxes, objected, housing cases etc to make x ray..... or even an emission of low wave length lower than 650nmm for the iR Light

    • @kilroi22
      @kilroi22  2 года назад +1

      Yes, not x-ray but it does see through some fabrics as I write about in my blog post that this video was made for: phyzblog.blogspot.com/2018/09/making-invisible-waves-visible-near.html

    13:56 you're filming this through your Iphone ... does your Iphone camera also have an infrared filter?

    • @theGottowatch
      @theGottowatch 3 года назад +1

      iPhone will have an IR filter but its irrelevant. The iPhone is filming the laptop screen which is giving off visible light not IR, so the image is not affected.

    • @kilroi22
      @kilroi22  2 года назад

      The only way to know for sure is to open it up. Some have an IR filter that easily pops out, some are attached more tightly, others are coated on the lens. Pay close attention as you open it so you know how to put it back together. Taking a video can help.

  • @Erniesworld

    Dude that was a terrible video, your info is great but your filming skills are awful. Your hands fell out of view, didn’t need to watch you reassemble the thing fast forward next time, and then you had very few examples of what it can do.... you seem very smart and next time use a tripod for filming, keep what your doing in the field of view and since you demonstrated how to take it apart there is no need to demonstrate re-assembly and more examples of the video, however I love that you didn’t add music to your video, too many people add music that is too loud, too annoying and its so 1990.
    Comments on youtube good and bad are good for your channel, great info thanks again.
