No wonder black hair color made me look sick. I never styled my hair at the time or wore any makeup when I dyed it black. I have very light skin tone with neutral undertones and black hair brought out my dark circles. After watching this, this has changed my perspective on hair color and how makeup/style contributes to each color of hair I choose

I'm in the same boat ! But my hair is already black and it has so much bleaching/dying history that I have no choice but to leave it how it is out of fear of damage.

@@Megan19208Have you used any clarifying shampoos, baking soda, and dish soap to remove it? I am natural dirty blonde, but I have used countless dyes on my head. I believe black hair dye fades over time, but maybe trying stripping it with something without totally damaging it? I had to mix baking soda, dandruff shampoo, and dish soap to strip hair color. It’s a long process, but it could work over time. It is a bit drying though and I know how you feel.

I have really pale skin too and naturally Mousey dark blond hair, but I wear wigs a lot. My black wigs always look terrible… until I put a bit of makeup on. Particularly the eyebrows do wonders, and I find eyebrows quite easy and quick to add. I could never be bothered long-term, so I’ll stick to temporary wigs. But, when I do wear them, it’s a good look if I put in just a little effort!

I think when people say: this color/cut suits you more”, its means “it works with your naturally given characteristics, your “base” “. For example, I have fair olive skin with cool undertone (meaning very little red/rosy tones and a lot of olive/grey tones). If I would go and get myself burgundy hair, the violet tones in it are going to clash with the olive in my skin, and enunciate it. Does it mean I cannot wear it still? Well, no. I can tan myself, or use darker foundation, a lot of bronzer. The thing about colors/styles that suit you less, is the amount of effort you need to put into making things work together. The things that suit you won’t require such effort, because its would have a “base” (your natural tones and features), which helps everything blend together into a flattering appearance.
I think, the power of makeup is unmatched, and you can literally “tailor” your appearance to suit anything with it. The question with it is, are you ready to spend your time on it?

There are 2 reasons why every color, cut, and style suits you, Stella. One is that your face is just undeniably beautiful and the second reason is that you rock everything you do. It's true with fashion as well...when we are confident and happy with what we are wearing (clothes or hair) we just rock it and that self-assurance makes us attractive. ❤❤❤

i feel like you read my mind with this video, when i used to dye my hair more often i would sometimes feel weird in a certain hair color and wonder "how come these people on youtube can dye their hair any color and it would still match them?''. it wasnt until recently that i realized its because in these transformation videos they would also match their clothes and do their makeup, so since i dont wear makeup and arent always dressed up its no wonder a certain hair color would feel out of place

I just think it takes the fun out of hair. A buzz cut looks fresh without makeup and too much makeup ruins the grunge coolness of the look.
I think you need to worry less about this, it's the male gaze vrs the female gaze and doesn't allow for true expression.
    Not for me.

It depends on what color season you are though. I am a dark autumn and cannot lighten my eyebrows or do bleach platinum hair because it washes me out. Darker hair isn’t also for just warmer tones it can depend on where you fall on the color season wheel. Dark winters which are cool skin tones can pull off gorgeous black colors as well as Snow White blonde. Warm toned skin can better pull off golden blonde usually and cool toned can pull off platinum blonde usually. Undertone and overtone for skin play a huge role as well as eye color, natural hair and skin color, and body type ❤

The way she discusses this is so intelligent, logistical, involving semiotics and proportions that communicate the messages that are consequently conveyed without our forethought. This was such an important-insightful look into hair and how powerful it’s presence is in our lives. I’ve never heard someone communicate this subject in this way, and every person would benefit from this factual perspective. Wow.

I dyed my hair ginger for the first time in my life after so many bright colors and I just felt like it didn't suit me. So I googled and this video came up. I ended up cutting the teeniest face framing fringe and now the color looks really good. (I already had eyebrows that weren't very prominent and I dyed them with my hair too, which was a mistake I can now see. Not coloring my eyebrows with this hair color anymore.)

I am a natural blonde and my skin gets red quite easily and from my experience, cold hair colors don't suit me. I had bright blue hair once and it just made my skin look even more red, no matter how I did my makeup. Then I dyed my hair ginger and that sort of neutralized my skin. So it looked good, but mostly with makeup. Now I just let it all fade back to blonde, because I think that looks best on me.

  • @nikitatavernitilitvynova
    @nikitatavernitilitvynova Год назад +1

I went from having brown hair to red and it was the best decion I've ever made. Here's why. First off I feel the need to add that I'm someone who had coloured hair or streaks in the past so I'm not new to coloured hair. So it wasn't a big deal for me to go from a warm dark brown to a fiery red shade. Next, half of my hair is already white so I need to dye it regardless. Anyways. I really missed my coloured hair. I had to cut the lightened part since my mom told me she would try doing it herself. And she needed a clean slate. Then she chickened out. Which left me broken. I had this short bob I didn't like and not only lost the beautiful length I had but I also lost my beautiful bleached bottom part. So I practically couldn't dye my hair fun colours anymore because it would barely show as I have level 3/2 hair naturally. It would just show as a reflex. Not as an actual vibrant shade. So I dyed it with the elumen dye by goldwell in pk@all all over my hair after seeing a guy with bright purple hair and getting envious of him. Then I decided to grab some box dye after my two rounds of dye faded after a year. And picked a shade called intense red. I recently dyed it again red at the salon and the red is even more intense and bright and fiery than the box dye. Every single person I met has told me red hair looks stunning on my olive tone. And I haven't been happier.

“Art it up baby!” Hahahaa Stella you rock. I’ve always had people say “you can pull off any color/hairstyle”…..and I’m like that’s because I style it! It’s not enough to simply go to a salon and say I want this-you must become this! ❤❤❤

Honestly I've never really noticed that any colors or styles don't suit me necessarily except blonds. I wear wigs like you Stella and it's interesting that it really does seem that I haven't found a style that I don't like except for long loose hair (ie not in an updo or ponytail). I think the reason is that I always make sure to match my clothing to my wigs. I base my entire look around my wigs very much including the color of my outfit. I make sure that if I have a beehive wig for instance, I tone down my jewelry a bit (especially minimalist earrings). I also think confidence also helps.

My biggest downfall is the type of cuts that I try to go for because I don't have a perfectly rounded scalp It kind of dips and cuts really hard in the back. So certain styles or textured looks cannot look right on me. The main trouble that I see with my hair is that if I texturize it it wants to be waving curly, if I leave it alone it becomes heavy and straight. If I go very dark like a blue black my skin looks pale. But if I try to do like a beige blonde my skin looks very pink. So it's very hard for me to go to extremes.

I love this video, so much information! I do have one question that has kind of popped up here and there in different videos - on the texture scale, as you move through a, b and c textures do they also consider that your hair is getting courser as it goes from a-b- c? You kind of hinted at this when you explained your texture as 1b with soft frizz and mild courseness. I’m confused about this now, I thought that now course your hair is, has no bearing on your texture. I’ve always said that I have super fine, naturally greying, 2b - 3a hair with light frizz that I just accept as part of what my hair is and have given up fighting it. Have I been wrong for the last couple of years since embracing my wavy sparkles?
