    Racing the clock is by far the most exciting to watch. The closer your time is to the one you are competing with, the better in my
    opinion. There’s nothing more climactic than the final straight to the finish

    Good enough for 16th place in 2018.
    Granted there will be difference in track but it shows the evolution of the sport.

      Tom Walters Correct, of the sport, not the man. One wonders what Jesse Owens could do with 2018 Nike Olympic spikes, made specifically for his gait and ergonomics, on a modern sprint track (Owens ran on dirt).
      Bike technology has progressed so quickly that new records, while not meaningless, always point toward the machinery, not the man. Unless that man is someone who wins over and over again.

      @@mtb416 The advantages come not just on the mechanical side, but on the pharmaceutical side. Cyclists today are talking more effective and more difficult to detect drugs than they used to. Hoy, on the other hand, probably didn't take any drugs.

      @@monsieurboks high level athlete here :) trust me if you wanted to take Peds, there were plenty available. The difference isn't the effectiveness of the PEDs but who detectable it is. PEDs have been used in sport since the 1960s hence why the stricter drug testing policies

      @JacksonM 21110 Many Olympic sprinters have been busted for doping. There are a ton of anabolic steroids that can be cycled and hard to detect.

      @@oldtwinsna8347 I'm not an expert on the topic but yeah he probably pushes way more than what I said. I can sprint for 30 at 800w, this guy is probably double my weight and double my fitness (if not more) so I guess his effort is well over a thousand watts
