How To Adjust Your JK Steering Wheel

- This video is a how to on adjusting a crooked steering wheel. This works with solid axels only and not for independent front suspension. In this video I show you the tools needed for the job and just how easy it is to fix. An alignment will be your best solution, but this is free, quick and easy.
Took me less then a minute, awesome video. I just threw in the ReadyLift track bar and my wheel was a whole 90° off, this did the trick. Cheers homie 👊🏼

FYI......those bolts get tightened to 45 ft lbs...too many bad lessons learned when I don’t torque.

I did the same yesterday, got the Moog tie rod and drag link, Metalcloak track bar on order.

I learned the lesson the hard way, my steering was a full turn off after I changed my track bar and tie rods, removed and did over, before doing your linkage belt the steering wheel down before you remove the track bar and tie rods, so it minimizes adjustments.
Thanks for the video dude! My ESC light randomly came on and stayed on the other day and ever since then my steering wheel has been off center. I’m gonna try this fix when I get home today and see if that light goes off. I believe it will after reading a few threads on jk-forum about this issue 💯👍

I clipped a trunk with my jeep earlier this year and alignment is off and Trac control randomly turns on. Will this completely fix the issue?

This only works for centering the steering wheel.
I was out jeeping and banged a couple of rocks hard steering wheel off will this help or is a bigger issue
Sorry for the delayed response, but yes this is exactly what you should do. Make sure you turn the key to the on position so the steering wheel can move. Hope this helps!

Awesome, thanks for this! Just did my lift this weekend and installed adjustable track bars and had the same issue. Jeep drives nice and straight but dang't if the steering wheel isn't off.

I raised my Jeep Wrangler 3 1/2in and now it seems that the steering gets stuck in one position for a min whiles driving what would cause that
When you had this issue did you have some free play in steering wheel?
Yes a little bit for sure. Once everything was lined and tight I was good
This will also cause your traction control to be intermittent. It thinks you're going around a turn.
Ahhh! Mine is doing that. I had to adjust the center link but it's still a little off. But I was 50 miles into the trails and had to do something.
ahh man, thanks! I just had the steering box apart and my steering wheel is about 15 deg. off right now, and I am having issues with my traction control. I had no idea they were related.
I’ve been dealing with this for two days. ABS and traction control went haywire and I thought it’d be an expensive fix but we’re going to try this and see if that fixes it.

sometimes it could be the steering wheel bolt along with this. The only reason why I am saying it might be the steering wheel bolt is if your steering wheel has a wiggle to it than you gotta tighten the bolt.

By doing this, is your turning limited one way?
Nope, my turning is fine both ways. This is used just to straighten out the wheel to align with the tires.
Fancy Boy Jeeps My steering wheel was spun around after installing track bar and when I rotated the drag link to correct it I couldn’t even make right turns
Sorry for such a late response bro.. but I actually experienced what you’re talking about on a friends rig. You need to do a full wheel rotation to the left. You were adjusted to far right so your wheel locked.

Need to turn your steering wheel clockwise, turn the bracket counterclockwise, and vice versa.

Shouldn’t you have the car lifted when you do that?im watching a lot of videos and learning before I buy my rubicon.used of course 🙂 I always learned its better to go with the best even if I have to wait to save up all the money 💰 great video I will be watching all your videos on your build.
You want your wheels to not move when adjusting the steering wheel. Only way to do that is to leave the Jeep on the ground.
Also rubicon is the way to go. Wish I had done the same. Stay away from birth eastern jeeps as they tend to have rust issues. And yes.. buy better quality products and you’ll only buy them once.

IT WILL ALSO SET OFF THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR AND TRIP THE CEL LIGHT. IT ONLY GIVES YOU ABOUT 15 DEGREES EITHER WAY. SO IT YOU ARE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE THE SENSOR WILL ASK ,”WHAT IS GOING ON HERE AND SET THE CEL LIGHT. JUST SAYING.
My Jeep ones of the from tires Ones looks more out the driver looks right I take a different shops it’s to different opinions the mechanic said I’m need to Replace ball joints and tie rods another guys said the track bar
Getting a double adjustable tie rod would certainly help toe in your tires correctly. But an alignment shop should be able to get your wheels straight. There is a process for checking ball joints however.
