@@kidmoto22 well, that was a bust. The rear cylinder breather bolt is way off. I had a Screaming Eagle air filter that a dealer installed and taking out the stock breather bolts was a little tough. I have a feeling that my throttle body is misaligned. I just stop today so I can look at the solution with a better mood. I have installed other air cleaners on my previous bikes and never had any problems.
Question, if the induction module supposed to have free play??? I had to lift the module to get all holes to line up. The whole intake manifold moves but the flanges to the heads are not moving, like it is supposed to be.
I can’t say that I’ve experienced heat above what I think is normal. The best feature for me has been the water resistant filter. I’ve been caught in the rain a lot this season riding for hours in the rain and it’s never failed to do it’s job.
I’m not sure what your referring to? The stock cable that was cut was connected to the original cap and was removed. The cable on the bike was then connected to the new cap. There is an empty connector near the front light that is part of the lighting on a Road King Standard with additional front lighting. Maybe that’s what your seeing? Thanks for watching!
Hi I bought this one Arlen Ness Chrome Finish Stage I Big Sucker Kit with Standard Filter 18-458, it say use Standard Filter 18-458, but can't find this filter "Standard Filter 18-458" Where to buy it or can you use K and N filters on it? Thank you
Hello Kid, I also have the 2017 road king special, and Arlen ness inverted sucker air cleaner kit...... I installed exactly how you showed in the video. However, when i start the engine the RPM's go extremely high! after a few seconds it calms down a little, and the there was a lot of popping coming from the exhaust, then suddenly the bike starts to rev up again by it self. I turned off the engine... now asking for help.
Do you have stock exhaust? It sounds like your bike needs a tune. If you get something like the Vance and Hines FP3 you can connect to the ECM and tune your bike to the correct air cleaner and exhaust system. This should solve your issues.
Looks good, Kid. I've never seen an air breather with an oil reservoir. Do you know if you will need to remap your bike with it sucking in more air? Just wondering.
Theo Sid In the video at 10:47 I’m installing the vent tubes that are used for oil blow back and push it back into the throttle body. There’s also an oil collection reservoir on the backing plate that can be seen while I’m installing it. The vent tubes are held in place with the small plates that are installed behind the backing plate. There has been zero oil on the engine since the install. Run for almost 5000 miles no issues.
Do you know how far the air cleaner sticks out from the TB? I'm considering installing this air filter when I upgrade my carb in a couple of weeks, but I'm concerned its going to stick out so far it would rub my shin when reaching for the rear brake. Great looking filter though! Looks great on your bike.
i bought this air cleaner just instslled itbut i,m thinking about ditching already befor my first ride because its an obstrution to my floor board and brake pedal...
So when I just did the intake change I was getting misting yes. I tried the fueling dip stick vent..didn’t solve the issue. My next try was the CAM chest with the upgraded oil pump and that pretty much solved the issue.
Interesting update: This kit no longer comes with the throttle body badge. Sort of a bummer because you can see the exposed mounting holes but no harm. Guess AN is cutting cost.
@@ItsPiccoletto Typically if you just do slip on pipes you don’t need a tune, when you change the air filter and or the head pipes you’ll need a tune to keep the bike running correctly. More air with full exhaust system or air cleaner would require a tune. Hope this helps.
@@kidmoto22 the pipes I’m going to use is Fab28s. I’m sorry if I’m asking a lot of questions lol since I’m pretty cautious and want to make sure I don’t mess up. Thank you again for the information definitely gives me a idea 💡
It doesn’t. The M8 motor is designed to mist oil back into the heads and with the stock air cleaner that is all contained inside. When you have a more open air cleaner it gives you the impression that it leaks. However the real issue is the sub optimal oil pump. When I did my Stage 2 and installed a complete S&S Cam chest it comes with an upgraded oil pump that solves the sumping issues of the old pump.
Ok I just called west end Motorsports and they are calling Arlen ness to try and send me one. It was listed as one of the parts but I also have the Method air cleaner and you have the inverted one.
@@ronaldhicks2965 I rode last season in the rain and after the bike had been out all night in a storm and it worked like a champ. Hopefully yours does the same!
Great video Ryan! Just installed the big sucker using your video as a guide, waaaay better than the sparce instructions in the box 😂
Thanks Man! Good to see that these videos hold up over time!
Awesome training videos. I normally take my bike to a shop but i plan on doing some of the work myself.
Thank You
Thank you. Glad I could help!!!
That thing is slick! Arlen Ness for the win! They are so easy to install and work very well! Time to tune er up!
D-Cycle Thanks D....I got the FP3 in the mail and will be tuning this week cause riding is starting soon.
kidmoto22 Yaaaaaas!
I am installing mine tomorrow, so I am watching your video to learn how to do it.
Good Luck. This is a pretty straight forward install!

Thanks for the video walkthrough, Installed mine this weekend. Love the look!
I think it’s the perfect air cleaner for M8 baggers with the turbine wheels as it’s such a coordinated look!
@@kidmoto22 definitely agree! I paired it with the FP3, and after riding a couple hours yesterday think it’s going to be a great addition!
That really compliments the aesthetics of the bike!
Thank you Sir....The looks sold me for sure the performance change will be fun too!
That Arlen Ness looks way way way better :) Nice one. Those FP3s seem to be a great job, best of luck with it!
The GorillaBiker Thank You Sir....I like the looks for sure and the performance change will be interesting.
That looks badass!!!! And yes... Percy knows your design tastes all too well. 🤪
I have this same air cleaner on my street glide, I just uploaded a video taking it off.
Going to put it on my new road king🔥
Good video brother 👊
Thank you much appreciated.....I think it’s the best looking aftermarket air cleaner out there
Great video straight forward. I did install mine , on my 2023 FXLR ST , for some it gets hot . Did you experience the same ? Thank you for your time

Good install brother, sucking in more air is a good thing, and it looks good to, stay safe out there Brother 💯✌️😎
OZARKS H-D RIDER'S Thank you...I really love the looks of the air cleaner.

I put this on my 2017 SGS... WHAT A DIFFERENCE !
The design also matches the wheels. Not to mention you don’t need a rain sock!

@@kidmoto22 That's what I was hoping. I think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger! Thank you for the quick reply.

What are the wires behind the throttle body for? Are they left intact?
Yes they are not touched or disturbed at all.

I’m a taller rider and I’ve not found it to be a problem. That said there are many air cleaners aftermarket and stock that can cause a problem.

Never mind, I just heard you say it does not need a sock. RIP Arlen Ness
any oil puking from the throttle body?

Do you have to put a gasket behind the oil catcher?(the cup you screwed on)
If I recall correctly there is a gasket that went behind the oil catch.
Ok Thanks. You didn’t not show that and I didn’t put it on.😂
I’ve honestly not had any oil issues so let’s hope it’s the same for you!
I hope so. Also did you install a filter cover gasket between the backing plate and the cover over the filter? My kit didn’t come with one.
@@ronaldhicks2965 Nope nothing like that is included in the kit.
What size sockets did you use to remove the banjo bolts?
Sorry man I don’t recall it’s been a while since I did that install.

Is Rinehart air cleaner high flow air filter?
I have no idea...I installed an Arlen Ness air cleaner and it is high flow.
