    Hi Steve, thanks for the rocking vids. Always appreciated and look forward to the next one. Do you have a favorite tuner? That topic has been done to death on forums but it all seems to be about personal opinions rather than facts. Your opinion would add lots of weight to this subject. For now, just headers, slip-ons and breather. Who knows what next. Cheers.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  4 года назад

      Agreed...This has been beat to death lol and I agree..it comes down to what guys where initially exposed to as a tuner, and that tuner will be the "best tuner on the market" (insert eye roll here) After using just about every tuner on the market I have came down to using the PowerVision and here is why....Almost every tuner I have used does the same thing...maps the bike to perform at its best with what you have. As you know all tuners once installed are married to the bike...and so is the powervision...however for a few hundred bucks I can purchase another license from powervision and tune another bike with the same tuner. In my instance that is great because I have 2 bikes...one tuner. The powervision also has the on board screen...no bluetoothing to phones tablets etc..it has a long enough cable I can run it to my handlebars and watch real time performance on the tuner itself. also it comes in chrome or black lol just a side note there. If you are really good at tuning and "know your shit" so to speak you can really fine tune with the powervision in great detail...on the otherr end of that it has a auto tune which is decent..about as decent as any auto tune on the market I guess..im not a fan of it. With this bike the tunes from powervision are about the same as the fp3... I selected high input air cleaner, high output slip ons and it let me choose Vance and Hines Dresser dual headers...the tune, once downloaded takes about a minute to install and you on the road.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  2 месяца назад

      Stage 1 is opening the exhaust, open air cleaner, open headers and a tune. Once that is done it is done...every stage after that is just other things like cams, heads etc. The only thing you will revisit on the stage 1 is the tune based on your stage upgrade.

    Question. I have a stage 1 tune downloaded at Harley years ago, SE air filter and full Python throwback exhaust on my 2015 Harley Iron 883. Im updating my bike and changing my air filter and exhaust system to Cobra 909s and air filter cleaner. Will that mess up my tune in any way and is there anything I should be concerned about? I wanna do it myself.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  11 месяцев назад

      if you already had the SE air filter, changing it to another open air filter will not change anything. as long as it an get more air than the stock filter doesn your bike will adjust the little bit it needs to for filter size if there is a difference. Those 2 pipes look pretty much the same as far as length and being dual exhaust so I would say your current tune will be just fine.

    Hey Steve I just recently started following you and already appreciate the content you put out. It's very informative and to the point. I made a purchase on the Arlen Ness 15 Spoke inverted about an hour ago after watching your install video. I have a 2018 RG Special. After reading reviews on the om the Arlen Ness Air Cleaner I see some mention something about oil leaks and some oil reserves. Do you have any idea what this is in reference to and also will I have a problem putting it on my model Harley with the oil issue. One guy mentioned the oil leaked back to his saddlebags so I'm lost my guy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    • @michaelm9287
      @michaelm9287 4 года назад

      To add to what's above I found out it's called an oil catch can and I saw on some forums where guys added the can along with a hose. Some shortened the hose to sit behind the air cleaner and others ran it down to the bottom. Still concerned about oil spraying out. I believe one of the companies that sells the can is DK.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  4 года назад +1

      The oil they are seeing is called blow by and it is from the crank case..Oil migrates slowly up the breather tube and makes its way out through your air filter. With time, it accumulates and releases a drip at a time from the bottom of your breather cover Many relocate the breather tubes so that the oil drops to the ground. You can minimize this by not over filling your oil when doing oil changes. If you do over fill, it will breath the excess oil all over the side of your bike. You can get these oil cans and collect the oil...Ive had it on my sg for 3 years now and never had any oil blow by...I would say these guys are over filling the oil. Keep your oil level on the bottom end of the "safe" area. However your riding temps and altitude can effect this as well. If yours becomes an issue start with the oil level and if it persists then you can get a collector. Lots of companies make them.

  • @01968752

      @@sikbaggers I bought the Arlen Ness Drift air kit. It has holes in the backing plate that go from the banjo bolt to the sides of the throttle body opening and has a couple of short rubber tubes that feed blowback straight into the throttle body. It also has the oil reservoir. I can't see the reservoir doing any good at all with the blowback being fed into the throttle body. I've seen other videos where the Arlen Ness kit does not have these holes routing from the banjo bolts to the throttle body. If I want to install a catch can, I'll have to plug the holes leading into the throttle body. I can't figure out why Arlen Ness started to included the routed holes AND include the oil reservoir.

    Wait what? Don’t need a rain sock but make really sure you get it dry before reinstalling it after cleaning?

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  4 года назад +2

      It means while riding in the rain you will be ok as the filter will not allow "rain" to be sucked in and bog the motor down. If you are washing it you are soaking the filter entirely ...they are water resistant not water proof. Rain and soaking the filter in water is not the same. With any open filter that is made of paper it will need a rain sock. These dont. synthetic material that never needs oil, just wash and re-use for long lasting performance, Synthetic filters are water resistant eliminating the need for a rain sock. After washing, Shake off excess water and allow filter to thoroughly dry prior to riding ...pretty simple.

    Any puking of oil from the throttle body or need for a catch can?

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  5 месяцев назад

      All of them puke from the throttle body into the filter, its not the filter its the engine, its designed that way, one issue is your throttle body cannot burn that amount of oil so it collects in the air cleaner and the second issue is most air cleaners cannot store a ton of oil in it before it starts leaking on to your engine and pants leg...this one has an oil catch / reservoir on the back side but its very small so if you have massive blow by you need to address it or it will fill up quickly. Even if you do a catch can it will fill up and you will need to clean it frequently. Your best bet in reducing blow by is getting a vented dipstick.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  4 года назад +2

      No you can run your stock headers with the air cleaner and slip ons...tons of guys do it...headers are pretty pricey and you dont gain tones of HP from changing them..it does open up the system and a good tune will provide slightly more HP and it will actually sound a lot deeper in most cases...however you need to weigh price vs sound/small amount of HP gain ....You will be just fine with the stock headers. You can get away with no tuning your bike with slip ons and a open air cleaner but I recommend you tune it...it certainly wont hurt and you will be getting the maximum performance from your bike.
