Increase Air Flow and Stop Blow-By with the FEULING BA Air Cleaner

- The Final Solution for Increased Air Flow, and to Eliminate the Blow-By that the Milwaukee 8's are known to Produce. The Trask Performance Transmission Top Cover helps with venting, but it did not Stop it all. This External Breather Option with the BA Air Cleaner is my final Solution. This oily mist has no other option, but to vent into an external filter or catch can. Another GREAT PRODUCT from FEULING, and I highly recommend.
Just to clarify, the thread Locker used on the cover screws is 545. It is a “red” in color, high lubricity thread sealant for locking and sealing metal pipes and small fittings with fine threads.

🚨 Just to Clarify, Thread Locker used on the Cover Screws is 545 Loctite 🚨

Did this come with the external breather parts?
@@Tom-jw1pe it did not, you have to purchase those separately
That was an awesome installation video. Detailed, well narrated without any extraneous “yacking”. Great job! Subscribed
Thank You! I definitely appreciate it. I try and get straight to the point
You have the cleanest, most well produced install videos on RUclips.
That’s awesome! Thank you 🙏🏽 I really appreciate the support
Finally, an air cleaner with external blow by tubes.
Right! No modifications here, expect routing the filter/catch-can
I have done much research and looking trying to decide which air cleaner assembly I need. I am having a stage 2 upgrade on my 22 SG CVO as soon as my dealer will get me scheduled, I am going with this exact model and let them install it . Thank you for the help it is a big relief .
Congratulations on the upcoming upgrade! It’s like owning an entire new motorcycle. This Feuling air cleaner is top of the line, so you are on the right track
Ok Raider, you were right and I still have a few things to do to my 22 SGST but here’s what I’ve got so far. Before Sturgis I bought the RWD RS-1 shocks but since my bitch bar attached to the shock mounts, I had to wait until after my September elk hunt to put them on. And wow! Huge difference between these and the stock shocks! Very happy! Earlier this year I replaced the factory pos seat with a BadBoyz Cycles Venom seat! Love it! While in Sturgis I put the .50 Cal slip-ons on! Fuking love these pipes! Before I do any stage kits on this 117, I’m gonna add a few more items! I want some front end work done now to hopefully match the rear shocks but don’t have a clue what I should be looking at yet. But I’ll be doing some homework. After that, the Hogworkz Chopped pack for the long rides. Work in progress! Thanks for the videos!
That’s awesome! Thank You for the support. These are some great upgrades 🤟🏽
If you are looking to upgrade the front suspension, Russ Wernimont also has the fronts 👉🏽 ruclips.net/video/Fb-ideiwRQM/видео.htmlsi=Xgr0nCcwuCn5UjhD
The external breather option is great
Absolutely! No modifications required is always a plus
You might have the most expensive Road Glide Special on the road! Bike looks great and I am glad to see that a manufacturer is addressing the blow-by issue. How many of us drilled into our air cleaner to solve this exact issue. Thanks for sharing!
Haha Absolutely! It’s definitely getting there. Thank You. There’s also the DIY, and modifying it.
I have the BA in all black and it’s killer!
Very Nice! All Black is always a great option
Best video on the BA air cleaner on RUclips
But please don’t use 263 red Loctite on the outer cover.
I called them yesterday because I was reading the instructions and I did not like that idea.
I spoke to Josh over there and he confirmed.
Use the 545 thread sealant loctite that comes with it not the 263 used for the breather bolts and the 3 throttle body bolts.
You’ll pull the aluminum threads right out of that cage when you try to remove the cover if you use the 263 red on those little screws
Thank You! You are absolutely right. I pinned a comment explaining that, just in case anyone was curious about which one to use. 🤘🏽
@
👍👍
You make some of the best motorcycle related video's on RUclips. Very detailed and the video quality is top notch! The Red Loctite threw me off for a second, until I seen the words "Sealant" and the high number "545" on the tube. Loctite makes so many different products and the numbers are what really matter, not the color. Blue 242 medium strength is what I use on most of the bolts on my bike. Blue 243 medium strength is for oily applications, like in the cam compartment. Blue 246 in medium strength high temperature for things like your automatic compression releases on top of the cylinder heads. So, the numbers on Loctite's products are what is really important, not necessarily the color. I have been using Grade C 08431 Adhesive/Sealant on my breather bolts. I guess I need to order some 545 now.
Thank You! I definitely appreciate it. Yeah, I mentioned it in the pinned comments. Didn’t want people to confuse the loctite. The service manual will state what type of loctite to use in some areas, but your absolutely right on how many loctite(s) or threadlocker(s) there are
I routed my breather same as you and get oil on the side of my engine and saddlebag now 😂😂😂
Oh no! Try the catch can. I’ve never been a fan of filters for that reason
I prefer the wider bigger look of Trask , but this one looks good too.
All great products. Thank You!
I also have installed the trask Assault breather, $500, the 58mm velocity stack, $69, the Trask EBS system, $150, and a K&N filter, $50 and bam, you have close to an $800 breather setup but what I can say is when I remove the filter for servicing I wipe the velocity stack and TB with a white tissue and it still remains white! No blow by AT ALL! My 110-117 big bore has been running strong for the 22k miles since the upgrade. Yeah, if you wanna play you gotta pay. Maintenance is cheaper than replacement.
@@peteryeanacopolis2037 Very Well put 🤟🏽
@@RAIDERWORLD Thanks! I forgot to mention the Fueling vented dipstick I added before the Trask which I’m sure helps with the blow by issues.
Great video BTW. Clear and concise. Easy to understand. Thanks for your content 👍
Another Awesome Job, New Subscriber! Thanks Brother!! Hopefully Fueling has a setup for my 05 carburated Electra Glide Classic.
Thank You! I appreciate the support. Yeah, hopefully they have some stuff in the works for other models.
@@RAIDERWORLD Yeah man, hope so cause that looks AWESOME!
Brother, the more I read up about this oiling problem the more I get confused! Last week came across a video from Kevin Baxter, a great Harley mech, that says taking the M8 motor out of a constant state of vacuum isn't necessarily a good thing. He basically says that venting the head breathers into the intake keeps the motors vacuum working properly, kinda like the PCV valve on a vehicle motor. So, at this point I am 100% conflicted about what's the correct thing to do with this problem. Was thinking about this setup for my 17 CVO Ultra but now, who knows!! Good luck!!
you're correct, Kevin is a "master" mechanic and knows what he's talking about, I live in Georgia, not too far away from his shop and he has worked on my bike in the past, top notch guy too, I also had Bill Woods of Wood's Performance in Cartersville, Ga do my stage 2 build and he said the same thing about the vacuum pressure and he's good, I did have him install the Trask tranny top cover vent, I think that's a good place to start in order to relieve the crank case pressure, he said that I did not need both, the external breather and the top cover, ride safe
@@michaelthompson7001 Thanks for the info Brother! Ride Safe!
How do we know there actually is a vacuum created by the head vents? I'm yet to see a number on a gauge hooked up there showing less than atmospheric at most engine speeds so can we just assume something like that is occurring ?
@@brucejuniper512 I did go ahead and vent my heads into a catch can because there was enough oil mist collecting on my breather and in the throat of my throttle body. All I can tell everyone is this, my bike is running much better. I am also gonna vent the dipstick and see what that produces. I've read enough to be convinced that the M8 does need venting especially if you have a motor that has the old oil pump, 2017 to 2019. This should also help with oil sumping that these motors are prone to do.
Excellent video with no "babbling", straight to the point. Question, Haven't seen one of these in person. Would you know if this is a smaller diameter all around compared to Trasks?
Thank You! I definitely appreciate it. I haven’t tried to compare the two together, but they might be around the same size. Although, the Feuling air cleaner is more centered on the intake runner.
@@RAIDERWORLD It definitely looks like they worked a bit more precisely on the air flow factor.
Why not just install the catch can with the new air cleaner? Is there an advantage of the filter vs catch can? Great video!
I actually like the red filter, but it also lets me keep an eye on the amount of blow-by that’s happening. Sometimes with a catch can you can forget it’s there. But you can I install whatever you want 👍🏽
Very cool. Great look and better air flow. Thanks for sharing this great install video. Ride safe and enjoy. 👊👍🇺🇸
Very much so! The heavy breather was nice, but Feuling is definitely a step above. Thank You again! And same to you 🤟🏽🇺🇸

Does the t fitting come with the kit
Thank You! Unfortunately not. This was my own modification than listed on the instructions

Hell yeah! Thank You for the Support 🤘🏽
GREAT Video....I am surprised that there was so little blow back in the catch can. I have the HPI breather and vent kit as well....just havent installed the breather kit as it was on back order for a bit. Need to decide if I wanna do the air cleaner or a catch can. I did the breather on my Trask M8 and have never seen oil on it...I really like your placement on the air filter.
Thank You! Yeah, I was really surprised too. People kept inquiring about a review on the Trask, but I wanted to put some miles on it first. I’m sure it’s still venting, because there was oil on the filters. I’ll ride with this one for a few thousand miles and review it too.
@@RAIDERWORLD I am not too surprised that the oil isnt making it to the vent....its a long line for mine to get all the way to the filter....not sure if it bleads back into the system if it gets into the line. The whole idea is that it shouldnt be spitting oil ANYWHERE anymore since there is a pressure release....its not so it has someplace to go....lotta guys dont understand that and expect it to fill the can like a catch can on a car.....its not the same issue.. :D
You would hope it wouldn’t fill up. There is a long vent hose, but there’s also a reed valve that is supposed to stop anything from going back in, and keep a vacuum state. Either way, this external breather should definitely help
that is a quality unit.
Absolutely!
The external breather kit is not necessary if I have the Trask vented trans cover right?
It’s not necessary, but it is more effective. I only had the trask vented top cover, but I was still receiving a lot of pressure/blowby/oil in the intake.
@@RAIDERWORLD oh wow ok. Good to know, thanks!
Any blow by entering air cleaner? How often does catch filter need to be changed
I haven’t done a service on it yet, but the filter looks like it’s doing it’s job
Another solid video.
Thank You!
Curious about what floorboards and break pedal MFG you are running in this video?
I’m currently running all Thrashin supply floor boards
I noticed you did not use any kind of gasket when you used spacer washers does it not call for them?
They use o-rings, so they serve the similar purpose.
Great video!! I have low rider ST and stock air cleaner sticks out 7" what is final depth of filter after installation? hoping like 4" thx
This one doesn’t stick out too far. I had the Screamin’ Eagle Heavy breather before, and that one stuck out further.
Excellent job!!!
Thank You! Definitely appreciate the support
Your videos are so helpful! Is it okay to run just 1 filter instead of the 2 supplied by Feuling? I just purchased both the BA and the external. I'm thinking the catch can is more appealing, but not sure where to find the T adapter tp go from 1/8" to 3/8"?
Thank You! I’m glad this video was helpful. You can absolutely just use one filter. Just keep an eye on it after a while, so it doesn’t get too nasty 👍🏽
Another great video brother! I need to do some research on the difference between the cvo screaming eagle cleaner and this one. I love the look on mine with the 117 but how much performace would I sacrifice by not upgrading the air cleaner when I do the rest?
Thank You Brother! I think the heavy breather on the CVO works just fine. This was more about the look and external breather backing plate option for me.
You going to Daytona Bike week This year?

How is leg clearance on it and has it done its job?
Leg clearance is good. Better than the heavy breather I had on there. And yes, it has definitely worked great. Especially the external breather
Hey buddy, is there any ways or possibility of these little screws come off or coming loose and ending up inside the engine causing mass destruction?
The way these holes are tapped, there is a stop that will not let that screw get sucked through.
In hindsight would you skip the Trask vented cover with this air cleaner?
With the Air cleaner I would
@raiderworld after install the external breather air filter kit, you see a increase leak of oil or not?
There’s no increase, and any oil goes into the catch can
Does that airfilter also fade to white when the red oils run out or is the paper actually red
The filter itself is actually red. When it gets dirty, it will turn black. Then that’s when you clean it out, and it’s red again
Hi Raider,Do you get any oil or misting through the glass with this set up?
I haven’t seen any yet, but I would definitely say something if I did
You just hooked Feuling with a new customer. My bike is about to hit 45k and it is running like new. I have the Feuling vented dipstick for a while now, but I am still getting oil on my intake, although less than stock. Install question, which thread chasers did you used? Can you provide a link? I will let you know when I do the install, although with the cold here, I have to wait to March. Ride safe and please give us an update on how much oil are you getting after this filter was installed.
That’s awesome! I recently started with Feuling products, and so far I haven’t been disappointed. Great products, as well as customer service. Here is the link for the thread restoration kit amzn.to/3GnWY44
I’ll absolutely provide an update. I like to ride a few thousand miles to give an accurate review.
Pulled the plug. Got the one like yours but with the black filter. I got to speak to Luke. Cool guy.
Definitely need a thread chaser, needed that to get the new bolts back in.
Have you checked the intake after some miles? I am not getting much oil. But the filter where I am venting gets very oily, especially on a 500-750 miles ride.
Brother that new air cleaner is so clean looking! We’re you changing out the old for oil getting on the inside, or do you think this new one lends to better performance….love this piece!
Thank You! I was eyeing this air cleaner when they first dropped. They both are going to deliver better performance, but the Screamin Eagle breather doesn’t provide the external breather modification. You could always DIY it. I do feel that Feuling put a lot of work in research and testing in this air cleaner, which delivers more performance
@@RAIDERWORLD I’ve always eyed Arlen Ness big sucker air cleaners, but I also don’t want something obnoxious looking. You may have turned me on Fueling though. I need to understand that external breather mod better

To be honest, Trask customer service never responded. I did a camchest install video for Feuling and they just released this BA cleaner.
@@RAIDERWORLD Thank for the reply
Does this air cleaner work on 64mm throttle body?
Current fitments are : Standard throttle body fitment (OEM HD: 55mm - Screamin Eagle: 64mm - HPI: 58mm and 62mm)
just wondering if the filter box gets in the way of your leg much?
On this filter it does not. The race series option does require, or I would recommend mid controls
Benefits or flaws in filter vs catch can?
The filter has done great. Doesn’t catch to much dirt or grime from the outside elements, just because of its location. A catch can would obviously be a lot more efficient
Very nice
Thank You!
Hey raider how's the BA air breather treating you? Any blow by?
So far so good! I absolutely enjoy it. I haven’t checked for any blowby yet
Do you have a Ba Air chrome Cleaner with external breather for 2016 HD Street Glider Special?
These will also fit a street glide standard or special. I would double check the year on FEULING’s website fitment guide
Looks cool when new but that view window get dirty.
Can always clean it out when maintenance is due
been watching all your content, do you still have the fueling dipstick installed along with the trask check m8 and the exteneral breather kit being used all at the same time?
Thank You! I appreciate the continued support. I am still using the dipstick and top cover from Trask. They do still work, but not as effectively as I was expecting. Although, some M8’s have more blow-by than others, and I ride pretty hard too.
Will this Air cleaner fit a S & S shorty carb
I believe this backing plate is only designed to fit the Feuling Air Cleaner
So how is your blow by now after all these mods?? Have you looked after u put like 2k or 3k miles on it?? Just so i get a idea of what mods i need to do i got the trask cover coming and i guess ill do the heavy breather by trask cause i got there assault air cleaner. I dont really like the vented dip stick idea i feel when u hit throttle all the oil goes to back and it would puke out of the vent unless u run the oil quite a bit lower then recommend no??
The blowby in the intake has been reduced to “0”. The external breather Keeps it all out. Now the oil filter is catching some oil. This was expected after having to install the external breather. I’m a huge fan of the DK Customs catch can. This is better than your traditional filter. I also didn’t want oil venting out.
can you use this for a stage 2 kit
Absolutely!
Another great install video. I realize that fueling sends the red loctite with the intake. It just seems like you would strip the bolts out when you go to clean the filter later. Just curious why it takes red instead of blue.
Thank You! I always thought the same. I’ve used the red loctite before with no issues on removing it. Now this will be my first time using it on a filter cover, so we will see how it goes. It’s also how much you apply. The screws seem heavy duty, so we will see when I do the first service. There’s also nothing wrong with using blue loctite, just to be on the safe side.
Just to clarify, the loctite used on the cover screws was red 545. This is a High lubricity thread sealant for locking and sealing metal pipes and small fittings with fine threads. Probably should’ve clarified that lol. It also lists it in the instructions
@@RAIDERWORLD I just got my kit yesterday. I got Loctite 545, which is being used for the breather bolts. I also got in the box Loctite 262, which in my instructions says to use for the velocity stack bolts and the cage cover plate. Now, Loctite 262 is a "med/high strength, general purpose" product and it does not says it will permanently lock the fastener. Now Loctite 263, will permanently lock and seal the fastener. So now we now there are two different threadlockers that are red, but only one will lock the fastener, which is 263. Loctite 262 should be able to work in this application.
@@jobeta22 Yeah, the Loctite can get confusing sometimes. Some people think that there’s just a Red and a Blue. I’ve used the wrong type before, but with a little heat, it will come right off. It is very important to know what type is used for each application. In the service manual they will have it listed, but with aftermarket parts, it’s a hit or miss. Congratulations on the kit! I definitely enjoy mine 🤘🏽🇺🇸
Do I need to remap the computer with that air cleaner ?
If you already had a heavy breather on, I wouldn’t be to concerned with it. Although, anytime I install something new, I always remap it.
How is this air cleaner holding up so far??? Have any issues with the external breather kit??
It’s holding up great. No issues
@@RAIDERWORLD worth the money? Seems like it’s best bang for the buck!

What’s the part number for the red lower rocker box cover?
That’s was custom painted
Was there any need for tuning modification?
You should always tune with any new air cleaner or exhaust

How do you like that ba air cleaner?
Huge fan. Not only for the looks, but functionality
hard to tell but it looks like it sticks out further than a stock box? Does anyone know if it does or not?
It will stick out a little further than the stock M8 intake.
How about just pulling the plastic little tube off .. the air entering the filter will push it towards the rear and any mist will collect in the filter element.. also don't put a full 5qts of oil in the bike.
There’s different ways you can run it, this is just how I did it
It's a really nicely assembled and designed system, but damn if it isn't a lot of parts. Maybe a little over engineered. lol
It’s designed this way, so you can customize it without having to buy an entire new cleaner. But it does have a lot of parts 😆
For that price point I would just got for the trask assualt about $100 less and same style and look
The Trask assault is nice, but it’s all about the company and customer service for me. Also, the Assault looks a little to off centered for me
i dont get it, dont piston rings affect the blow-by, how is the air intake supposed to affect it
The used up oily mist that gets recycled back through the intake to meet emission standards, which in turn, builds up a large amount of carbon on top of the pistons, and honey glazed cylinders.
Why HDs owners always fixing or upgrading their motorcycles?
Because it’s fun, and we like blowing our money
They’re only made for m8 what about twin cam motors
Hopefully they have something in the works. They definitely knocked it out of the park with the M8 one
Any updates on this?
I absolutely need to do an update on this install. I get carried away with wanting to put a lot of miles on it before I give my review. I’ll put this on the list. As far as now, it’s doing an amazing job. I’ve only had to change the external breather filter once, but it’s definitely doing its job.

Mine sits on the inside of my leg, not in front. Now if you went with the race series, you would have to modify your bike to have mid controls. And mid controls on a Touring or Softail is mainly for Racing.
Doesn't come with the external breather. Looks like you were using the D,K customs
You purchase the external breather kit separately from Feuling. I was using the DK customs catch can
Idk man...a hiflo air cleaner is just a hiflo. Not really any difference. It's the exhaust that makes the difference with torque. Personally I would rather have a little something for show. A nice face plate hiflo that shows off the exhaust system.
It’s all Riders Preference 👍🏽
@@RAIDERWORLD of course that's why I said what I did. All I'm saying is the only difference in a hiflo is the look. One doesn't really out perform another.
@@mikepsly73 Absolutely. The look and external breather option is what got me.
Or if you don't want to worry about emptying the catch can just put it on the road, and forget about it
Haha, that’s another option. Just make sure you route after the rear tire
All the autos, millions/billions of cars trucks ,motos, and boatsbeen routing crank case pressure back into the breather system longer than you've been alive.A few drops of oil isn't going to hurt anything The truth is more oil will slip past the rings and valve guides ending up in the combustion chamber than from pcv system.
They definitely have! Thank you for your input 👍🏽
I'm sure we'd buy more of fueling products if they weren't so over priced
The price is up there, but you do get what you pay for 👍🏽
all this stuff for how many more horsepower? get a bmw k model and blow every HD away....you don't need some fancy air cleaner...just saying for a friend,
Working on your own bike, making it go faster or perform better, is what it’s all about. If you want something already done for you, but a CVO 👍🏽
Stop blow by? Blow by is an indication that you engine is fucked. The external breather keeps oily crankcase air out of your air intake chamber. You have a filter to keep dirt out and the designed HD crankcase ventilation dies nothing more than drain shot into your combustion chamber. You're using a remedy i saw years ago on the Trask assault breather created by another you tuber. Anyway blow by means you've got bad rings, valves, or valve guides. You need to plug those weep holes so that the engine's suction doesn't pull crankcase gasses into the combustion chamber. Fueling and Trask so far have the best external breather solution. Enjoy your extra 1 horse power.
Thank You for the input 👊🏽🇺🇸
They all require mid controls... Who the hell rides mids?
This one does not require mid controls, only if you ride the bigger air sucker
Jesus H Christ $700 plus minus for the filter barrel, filter, and the 2 red dongles with small hoses plus a few screws that are probably made in china heck the whole kit is probably made in China .Time to step off on spending that much money. Way over priced gotta be Chinese versions that are priced more realistic. Nice video tho.
Need to do your research. Everything Feuling offers is made here in the USA, minus the shipping. The research and development that goes into these products is second to none. If you’ve ever taken your Harley apart, half of it is made is Mexico or Thailand. You get what you pay for, and that includes customer service. Ever call a cheap after market company and get an English voice? I definitely appreciate the support, and you watching the channel, but you have to do a small amount of research on these companies.
Fir cost and fact hd been using same basic design forever no new bike should have any blow by or any issue. All these yrs and still have factory defects and cost out the azz. I brand bike i will never buy. Hd over orice low tech and still not as reliable as 20 yr old honda with 50k miles
Awesome! You definitely do what’s best for you as a rider.
Lol if you say so.
It’s working so far
These fools are outa there minds on the pricing for this air cleaner. Cripe.
You get what you pay for.
Looks like a cheap version of the TRASK !!
Definitely not a cheaper version
So the 22 R.G. limited i just bought has this issue i'm assuming ?
All bikes are different, some are worse than others. Only way to know is to check your intake when you service it.
