Nice! I plan on going to San Gabriel river, East fork road too. Was this in the wilderness area/bridge to nowhere area? Or further down toward the reservoir?
Haven't seen many people making videos recently from the east fork. I think my last video was right near where you were, and did pretty well in some bedrock. I like your cleanup setup. Now I got that itch again, gotta get there. Maybe we'll see yall out there sometime. Be well
@onedayoffprospecting too long if a hike with gear for me. I did really well at shoemaker which is about 45-50 minutes from Heaton Flats, but that's about as far as I've gone, maybe just a bit farther. Think I'd need to spend a day just packing in if going to the bridge.
I’m a newbie. Called the ranger district up there. Spoke to a lady ranger. I asked if i needed a permit or a pass to pan for gold on the east fork. She told me it was illegal to pan for gold. WTF!?!? Any help, understanding or words of advice? I asked her what makes it illegal. She stuttered for a moment without giving an answer. So i said; “just because it’s been turned into a monument.”? She answered yes. 🤦🏻♂️
I know about that. They don’t enforce the “no prospecting” we clean the rivers edge around our mining areas. Too many people just leave their trash all over. They should bust the people tagging the rocks that should be violation to the monument! Just get an adventure pass and go out there with a gold pan and find some gold.. I’ll be there tomorrow.
Great job getting that Au fam. Keep on having fun and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Before the storm, good day on the river! Good to hear test pans on the higher bank, great sluice and heavy pans!

Before the last parking lot. Along the edge of the road. Nugget Alley I think they call it.
HEAVY PANS To Ya!

I’m still researching the hike. There are many conflicting opinions on how long it takes.
Some differences are 2 hours apart.
