@@clarenegracey it’s a great one for mixing, however I wouldn’t use it in live scenarios where I want to keep CPU usage as low as possible. Ableton stock devices are fine for that
I wish Ableton would release the FX Section of the Drum Sampler as it’s own separate audio effect also. To be able to stack those effects together would could be awesome!
Thanks Christopher, super glad to hear that! That's exactly what I try to do - just practiced a new live set yesterday in which I used the new limiter end of chain and was really amazed. That's definitely a huge improvement!
Best thing about 12.1 IMO is the additions to Push 3. Being able to group devices, create macros, create macro variations and switch macro variations from the new Notes layout view is a big deal I think. Also Drum Sampler is pretty good.
100% agree - I updated my Push after I made this video and this is awesome. I use a lot of performance macros in my live set and finally having an easy way to reset these settings to my defaults is pretty insane. Love this
Thank you for the content. For drum sampler effects, it seems you can only have the selected effect active rather than multiple effects. Is that correct?
Thanks Carl and no worries! Regular side chaining with a compressor works similar to a dynamic eq but is ducking down the whole track you apply it on. With a dynamic eq on the other side, you can apply the side chaining only to specific frequency bands/ranges, which is very helpful when balancing elements in your mix that are only clashing in a specific frequency range
Thanks Morel! I'm a little bit on the fence about it: On the one hand I love the form factor and the way it is designed. Looks like a really intuitive music making machine, something like an OP-1 but in the Ableton world. On the other hand I also find it quite limiting: Only 8 encoders per synth preset to tweak the sound is a little limiting to me + only 4 tracks in general as well. So I will wait for now but I think for people without an Ableton Push SA it might be a great option!
Of course you could but with the new drum sampler it’s now way easier as it’s directly baked into this FX tab. Simplified workflows are always welcome!
That dynamic EQ feature saves a lot of time! Thanks
Glad to hear that! Probably one of my favorite features too
Just use pro-q3 bro don’t worry about this stock shit

Feature 3 is my favorite!
Same! I love that

Ohh that would be nice! As a small multi FX tool that could be really fun
Great Video as Always! Thank you Miles!! ❤
Thanks for the feedback! 💜
Good review. +1 on the Drum Sampler and Limiter, also my favorites
Thank you! 2 great updates indeed
I really appreciate that you give creative real life examples of how you’d use these features!

Great advice on dynamic eq!!!
Glad you dig it!
@@MilesKvndra I am glad too. This is one of the best things I learned online :-)
Great video, appreciate it!
Glad you dig it!
Thanks Newsgroups and SSL 🎉

dynamic EQ is game changer
It really is!
Thanks i had the beta and had no idea about the envelope follower update, it’s way more handy
Yeah it’s an amazing feature! Getting closer to a dynamic EQ, now Ableton is just a small step away 😁

Yeah this is gonna be amazing for live sets
Macro variations
The new Limiter looks awesome! Think i´ll also have to switch from Live 11 to 12 at some point 😀
Cheers buddy! In my eyes it’s absolutely worth it!
@@MilesKvndra I think so! 🙌

Yes, it seems like you can only have 1 effect for now for a drum sound. 2 would actually be really cool!
Only OGs can make a video 8:08 🔥
From 808 kicks to 8:08 videos it’s just a small step
Mine only goes to 8:07 😭
@@vinylarchaeologist damn RUclips, we need to keep the 808 vibes strong!
These better be AMAZING.
Ok. I did love the dynamic bit.
honestly one of my favs too - and the limiter also sounds so much better. Didn't even dive intothe auto shift yet haha
Thank you Miles! I'm still learning Live so i might be missing something....but how is the 3rd feature different than regular side chaining?

what`s the name of your Ableton theme? looks super clean
I really like it too! It's actually the standard color scheme in dark mode with the color temperature set to neutral

Are you saying you could not modulate pitch and gain prior to this ?

wen moog muse?
Ohh I'd love that but I'm lacking money + space in my studio right now 😅
@@MilesKvndrawe have a muse arriving at some point.. But the moog you have there is a stunning tool..
@@TheMM4F awesome, let me know how you like it! I had the chance to try it at Superbooth in May and really liked it
