LC looks better, is more understated, and gets better MPG. Will likely be a little more comfortable of a cruiser too, the new GX has some weird ergonomic choices in the front. Also FWIW a LC will always be more desirable than the Lexus equivalent, and thus have a better resale value - true back to the 80 series. Usually the Lexus models are 10-20% less on the second hand market vs the Toyota.
@@carguyeyedoc I like the look of the LC but I do think the GX looks better. I don't think there's any difference between them as far as resale is concerned. Older Lexus GX models hold their value incredibly well. It's the reliability that really makes them hold their value. Although who knows how either of these will hold up long term. Toyota hasn't been living up to their normal reputation for reliability lately. Overall I would much prefer a naturally aspirated engine on both of them.
@@hacob2004 I’d definitely prefer a V8 but with how many issues the 3.4tt has, I’d probably take the chance on their 2.4t hybrid. That’s the only downside of the new LC is the sound. Your first review LC absolutely had shot tires. I have no complaints with the handling on my LC 1958 on 33” KO3s, it’s actually surprising how well it’ll dance on mountain roads for an over-5,000 pound curb weight vehicle.
thanks for bringing us a quality video as always Topher! I love this land cruiser! My aunt and uncle live in Saudi and they have 2000's land cruisers and race them around the sand dunes so I have always been a fan of them.
70k for a Toyota shocked me. I looked at what a 1990 Land Cruiser cost when new and adjusted for inflation it was basically $70k. I guess cars didn't really get that much more expensive - wages just never caught up to inflation.
The real kick in the nuts is that the Land Cruiser of old is now called the Sequoia. This new LC is basically a 4Runner with a slightly nicer interior.
Hello from Japan. In Japan, we can't choose this powerful 2.4L turbo hybrid. We only have the weak 2.7 gasoline NA or 2.8 diesel. Americans are lucky. I always look forward to your channel.
For nearly $70k I'm hearing a lot of road noise on roads that look similar to mine. I thought this might be to next one in a couple of years but I guess not, apparently its hard to buy a new car when your aging Touareg does a lot right. All you hear in my car is the thudding from impact since it has a 45 aspect ratio, and this has a bit more sidewall. Nevermind.
The perfect SUV for those who can afford a second fun car to scratch that itch. If it has to be your “all-in-one” car, there’s definitely better $70k options out there that dont handle like absolute 🗑️
No surprise on the increase in mechanical grip--the "1958" trim Land Cruiser 250's are on 245 width, and the tires on this Land Cruiser 250 in the video are the typical 265 width. Makes all the difference. Anybody buying a 1958 edition Land Cruiser is advised to ditch those tires without delay. Put a nice tame all-terrain on or something.
If we rationalize too much LC isn’t it… I’d prefer the new GX550 overtrail but the average pricing difference is more like 10k and the LC design makes me smile more

I think they should have offered the LC with the 3.4l to somewhat differentiate it from the Taco/4R, basically it has the name and a boxy body. I like the interior better than the GX/Taco/upcoming 4R. The LC needs a bigger fuel tank, 17.9 is ridiculous.
