Spice Girls may seem frothy but as a teenager back then, what i got from them is the ideology of being ambitious, just always doing your best and you will somehow go places and treat everyone the same (with respect) as what she said here. I am not ashamed that it somehow became a foundation to how i live now.
Now that I'm older, I've come to realize just how much they affected me and molded me into who I am today. I see a little of every one of them in me. It's crazy. I feel sorry for younger girls who are growing up right now. They have nothing but problematic youtubers to look up to, which will probably be exactly who they will grow up to be as adults.
I'm not saying their intentions were bad, I genuinely love Geri, Mel C and Emma, but the idea that you can accomplish whatever you want in the world through will-power and sass is actually pretty toxic and far more American than traditionally British. It takes it as a presumption that climbing the "ladder of success" is a good thing and it says that just to want it matters more than wondering whether it's actually right for us.
I was at her last Spice Girls concert on the world tour in Finland in May 1998 when me and my family traveled to Europe!! It's sad she left only two years into the Spice Girls career because if she had stay a few years longer they would've owned the world
Why she was THE SPICE from THE SPICE GIRLS: She embodied the best of them: - Loved the fame as Victoria but she used that fame to do good to people. -Took music seriusly as Mel C but to express herself and help others to do the same. - Had fierce and a strong personality as Mel B but not to diminish anyone. She needs to make her mind up on why she left - always changing her mind. Bottom line she left because she felt like the girls didn't need her anymore. If she wanted to do something for breast cancer back in 1996, she would've done so. The girls were growing up and knew she couldn't control them (in a way) anymore. Geri was also very smart, she knew she was the oldest and wanted to have a solo career, hence why she left while she could.
No, there are only 2 things that make everybody mad: money and sex. Money obviously wasn't the problem but sex was. Mel B admited they had sex one night at a very posh house they rented and it's known Geri left the band shortly after moving in to this house. During an interview, Geri said she once had sex with a very famous woman but didn't like it because she isn't lesbian. She also said on other interview that she left the band because of Mel B but didn't explain what problem was. If it wasn't something very personal, she wouldn't change her version of the story all the time. I think this sex experience affected her deeply and since money wasn't a problem, she ran away as fast as she could. I think she was right: there are many videos of Mel B yelling at her and she also said that her relationship with Geri was "deeper" than with the others. It obviously wasn't a healthy relationship and it was the best for Geri to get away of this.

Geri left because she couldn't cope anymore. The group was doing live shows, something she struggles at and it was becoming obvious she was the weak performance link. She also had to have known that if she left first, she would have the best chance of launching a solo career... she wasn't the best singer or dancer of the group.

Glad I was able to hear about why she ditched the Spice Girls at that time. I bawled like crazy as I first heard the news from my dad when I was waking up to get ready for school that day. I was so finicky about the group's resulting status having to carry on with the remainder of the tour as a foursome, knowing very little of the adaptive modifications that had to be made to fill the void, that I eventually decided to abandon my obsession with the group a year later. I unfortunately missed out on the first reunion tour in the late 2000s because of how far away I've drifted toward other interests since hopelessly abandoning my obsession with the group, but I was able to catch their performance at the Closing Ceremony for the London 2012 Games.
well she did say that she had taken the decision before the tour, but didn't actually say why in the first place.. yes I think it has to do to the way she sees things in life which I totally share and respect.. but I still love the group and for me it was something very important jeje

whats the point in complaining that she left and that they could have gone on for a longer successful career.. they wouldnt have continued for that long even if she hadnt left, victoria would have probably ended up leaving regardless to pursue fashion. nothing lasts forever.. point is they made history and had a great run.

There should be no regrets, without Geri leaving, no Schizophonic album would have been made. It's the most relevant studio album any single Spice Girl could have had. Without Geri leaving there would have never been such shift on the remaining Spice Girls with the Forever album, as well. Everything happens for a reason. ALWAYS.

I LOVE Geri but... I don't believe the breast cancer history. Ok, It can be a small part of the whole story but not the main reason. But of course she will never admit the main reason. Apart from the awful fact of being bullied by Mel B, which didn't help at all, for me the main thing was her ego. She was so hungry for media attention and she felt that she was not getting that attention anymore in the group as she was being shadowed by the other girls, who were more talented than her. Maybe a more mature Geri could have handled with that fact, evolve, re-envent herself and survive in the group. But she didn't know how to do it. The easiest way was to leave. This way there was no competitors, no comparisons with other bandmates. Only her. Sadly, she discovered some years later that her ego and her hunger for fame was not enough to maintain her success.
