I have the Elegoo Mercury Plus but only use for curing. I have two buckets with alcohol one dirty and one clean. I stop using the toothbrush because get some scratches so now prefer to use a paint brush 1" Flat
Thank you. I have purchased a toothbrush in order to show my appreciation for the channel.
I think my end goal for resin cleaners is to never have to touch uncured resin and ipa at all, which means having solutions that are big enough to house the buildplate+the max build volume of your printer. I have a jupiter SE and fully plan on getting a 20L bucket that I can i just dunk the entire build plate into for a dirty rinse and a phrozen wash mega s for the clean rinse. Eventually, I'm even entertaining the idea of transitioning the mega S into the dirty rinse and have 30L ultrasonic for the clean wash using a non flammable solution like resinaway. I really just don't like the anxiety of accidentally getting resin on things or my skin and I go through so many gloves and paper towels as a result. The savings certainly doesnt offset the price but the peace of mind will be invaluable.
The UniFormation is fine with IPA, just follow the directions and don’t run it for more than 3 minutes. Never had an issue and I’ve done a LOT of prints in it. Bonus is you can set the build plate direct into the top with the print on it.
That being said I still currently use a little pickle bucket for first wash and then another small container for second wash with a soft brush.
Thank you for sharing this information I am doing my research in how I will proceed with this interesting hobby, Thus so far I am leaning towards the ultra sonic cleaner and the curing perhaps a diy build. First of course I have got to acquire the GK 2 Resin Printer. XD
I see what you mean now about the wife and money lol.
This is a great demo on the cheap Vs pricey machines. It might be also worth adding to this that if your 3D printing for yourself to make ornaments or one off prints, a tub and toothbrush is more than enough for your needs, and might I also suggest a syringe with IPA to clean out areas a brush won't reach (doing this under the IPA makes it less messy but you need to figure out how much pressure is enough. But if you're doing massive prints like 100s of tabletop warhammer figures, or a production line of the same print, a machine is definitely the best way to clean them.
As someone who works on a resin print farm in Manchester, we have 4 IPA/ water wash and cure machines, a Sonic Cleaner for the dirty IPA wash, a Elegoo Mercury X wash for a second bath of IPA using reclaimed IPA, another Elegoo Mercury X washer for a third bath in fresh from the factory clean IPA, and then a forth Mercury plus washer filled with hot- boiling hot water for final cleaning and removing all the IPA from the print before drying and putting into the Curing stations. If I had that set up for one off prints it would be a complete waste of money, but for something that aids in a production line for cleaning so many parts is absolutely worth the investment.
Now I just need to see if I can convince the boss about investing in the IPA filtration system 😂
Also too add, yes the sonic cleaner we have has a thermostat so we can keep an eye on its temperature, however, we also have it in a high ceiling, well ventilated room closed off from the rest of the studio, not to mention restoration and gloves for H&S and a purpose fire extinguisher/ blanket if the worst case should happen, so the fumes aren't as much of an issue, the warm IPA certainly does help with cleaning the resin prints, but again you need the right kind of working environment to do this, a room in a home I would not recommend, a shed in a garden I would also not recommend, a double garage separate to the house should be ok, but a large outdoor workshop with purpose built ventilation and separation from other areas of the space is much better. This is just my advice and not fact, I do claim to be a health professional or a professional of health and safety, what I have written is purely from my own experience and unique to my working environment and practice.
Got my Mercury X wash and cure for 60€ so the ansew was fast :p but nice video :)
I have the elegoo mercury plus but don't use it anymore. I use multiple tubs (clean and dirty) of IPA and built my mown massive curing box since I also got an anycubic m3.max for things to fit.
Can you link the UV Lights that you use in your curing box please.
I know one cheapest form to clean resin; You must mix 3 parts of regular alcohol and 1 part of Awsome degreeasse líquid,
👍
