Massage treatment for the adductor magnus

- This is another video demonstrating my approach to treating the often neglected muscle adductor magnus, which is an absolute must-treat when treating hip restrictions. This technique is an integral part of my hip protocol for soft tissue restrictions of the hip. Remember this muscle is an antagonist to our gluteus medius, so in terms of treating altered reciprocal inhibitions of the hip, the adductor magnus is the key to balancing the relationship with the ever-important gluteus medius.
This technique is a real art: you have to make sure you have the client in a comfortable position for the hip and the knee, engage the tissue so taking out any skin laxity, and remember not to push into but along the tissue whilst exploring the hip flexion and adduction passive range of movement. Make sure you use the right amount of cream (I use Premax Essentials) and listen to the tissue. This should not be painful at all; if it is then you need to slow down the stroke and maybe back of pushing and focus on gliding along the tissue. This sequence usually takes four attempts. You can then focus on the proximal fascia region, reassessing the passive hip internal rotation.
