    This video actually helped me release the pressure on that muscle myself! I found the tender point and pushed on it with the pressure for about 40 seconds and when I went back to the workout where I got the sharp pain, it was gone!!! Thank you.

    Really, REALLY like the use of your hip to move the leg around. I typically do the same thing you showed with very slight differences, but the foot and hip thing is seriously a great idea. Thanks for showing me something new 👍🏼

      Hey Mike,
      That's what friend of mine who teaches for Maitland would call a "clinical gem". It's those little things you pick up from a mentor, clinical instructor or live workshop that just make something click, or become easy.
      Glad I could add one to your repertoire, please share it with your colleagues ;-)

      Hi, guys. As a female LMT who works on a male patient in this area, I would appreciate any advice about what to do when he starts getting a boner. I’m serious-there’s a guy who does a lot of contracting work on rooftops who came to me for a 90-minute massage, waist down only. I know he couldn’t help it, and I know part of the struggle is dealing with my own awkwardness. But if you have any words of wisdom, I’d greatly appreciate them. Thanks.

    This was a very good video, very informative and I like how you stated that the trigger point in the ischial tuberosity requires confirmed consent before working. I work as a LMT and was doing some refreshing because i had a client today that needed her adductors released. I don't work the inner thigh very often unless its requested so this video was an excellent refresher, thank you for posting

    Great video. Very good explanation and demonstration. Thanks for adding the close up portion.
    Is this the kind of thing that can be resolved with one good trigger point release session?
    I have a really tight spot deep in my groin that I only feel when I am lying on my back like in the video. But lately if I do any big external rotation like sitting cross legged on the floor, there is no pain but later when I lie down to go to sleep with my legs straight I will feel this kind of throbbing pain for 5 - 15 minutes and then it will to away.
    I made sure I did not externally rotate my hip for about 5 - 7 days and that pain in bed was gone but then I started sitting cross legged again and the pain came back.

    For myself it helps for client comfort to add a barrier between my ASIS and the foot, like a pillow or something like that. Where I can still palpate but the client doesn't have to worry about where their foot is. Really like the videos Brent, great stuff to add to my massage practice.

    • @BrookbushInstitute
      @BrookbushInstitute  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks Jon,Obviously if that's how you are comfortable, go for it. I like putting the heel on my ASIS and always felt uncomfortable with barriers. I feel like it gives the client/patient this sense of me being afraid to touch them... but, like I said above... if that is how you are comfortable.
      Thanks for adding to the video and comments, I am sure the pillow idea will be a great addition for many.Dr. B2

    Brent, is it recommended to perform this technique on yourself? I tried myself and it's not that hard. Am I 80% sure about the issue/muscle? All I know is that what the Osteo did has not worked. My issue is that I have been doing some medium level sprint training, and now feel that my left leg is really heavy, it really hurt the other week just to walk; had to almost drag my leg along with me. That extreme pain has gone away, but just when I think it's gone, it switches on to pain (short lived), then switches off minutes later. I suspected adductor, but now not sure if glute/groin, ITB and/or hip? Oddly enough, 2 weeks ago I came to training with a mildly sore groin, took it slow on warm up, but was able to do medium level sprinting, 1/2/3/4/5/400m - a 5 minute break between 4-5, and 5/400m. However, the next day, my legs felt fantastic, but the following weekly training, the next day after went down hill quickly. Sorry for the long post. Any thoughts?

    • @Randy-is6ww

      Sometime foam rolling is good to shit down the neurodrive of the muscle and then stretch, them and perform some strengthening exercises for the adductors. Just remember the glutes are a huge part of us maintaining good posture. I’m sure they are compensating more than they should, so just make sure your glutes are doing their job or other muscles will have to compensate for them and that’s where muscles like the adductors become overactive. Copenhagen planks are a great exercise to keep the adductors functioning at an optimal level

    Can this type of stretch cause more injury if their adductors were torn or had undiagnosed sports hernia type injuy?

    • @BrookbushInstitute
      @BrookbushInstitute  7 лет назад +2

      Adductor strain in the acute phase (6-8 weeks) absolutely, sports hernia probably not.
      It is always a good idea to stay away from stretching a muscle that has been strained/partially torn.

      What scans can be done to get a true diagnosis for groin pain... It's possible that the pain is not from my back or label tear. I stretched my quad (front of thigh toward side) and felt something funny. Afraid to exercise. Without true dignosis. The groin pain also appears to be isolated In the groin.ay times. Very frustrating. Way to long since had proper exercise too. I know pain and this is different.

      Not necessarily Cameron,
      There are a ton of techniques out there, and depending on which school you went to, the set of techniques taught may vary quite a bit. If you have pain, you should likely see a physical therapist or orthopedist who may come to the conclusion that this technique is necessary via movement assessment.

      He is working the mid thigh first. I happen to have a knot exactly there and appreciate the video. Simple childbirth can cause alot of issues in women for a large variety of reasons in the groin areas, add injuries and/ or things like Endometriosis, which basically acts like a glue and glues their organs together. That can be very uncomfortable, I know, I've got it. Just watch a video of them cleaning that mess up. It's pretty cool , weird, complicated and not at all, depending on what got glued to what, especially the main veins and stuff. That may help you to understand why those areas get attentions. We don't like it , at least most of us. And while their certainly are questionable guys and girls out there, I do not think this guy is, based on this video .

  • @jasonhunter6125
    @jasonhunter6125 8 лет назад +3

    Great video, but I'd rather see her bare skin, as it's easier to see. Also, it would be great if you made a video of how to identify the muscles of the inner thigh; how to activate them, so that you can feel and identify them individually. Maybe also draw with a pen on the thigh as you find them;) I have bothering issues in all kinds of muscles in my inner thigh and I find it confusing to figure out what muscle it is. Thanks for great videos, though.

    • @BrookbushInstitute
      @BrookbushInstitute  8 лет назад +19

      Hey Jason,I appreciate your comment, but I do not think that skin in this case is necessary, and I do believe it would have made from some very revealing videos. As you cannot see the muscle through the skin, the extra layer of yoga pants does not make a tremendous difference. We do thoroughly discuss how to find and palpate the adductor magnus in this video, and an anterior adductor (that includes an explanation of palpation) is on its way. Watch the video all the way through and I think you will see what I am talking about.

      There is a good technical reason to shoot with athletic women. Less junk in the way. Shooting around penile tissue and testes is trickier.
      Dr B2, have you considered tights with musculature printed on it? Or a digital overlay?
