Hi everyone, I hope you like this crochet tutorial where I remake a shawl that my Grandma made years ago. It is very easy and quick to make. Written pattern available on Ravelry via link in the description. Thank you for watching. Anja xx
Thanks for sharing the shawl... I will try this. My beloved grandmother made blankets too. X
That is awesome that you have your Grandma’s shawl. That is so so precious,
You can put it in a memory box the one that like a frame but a box with a clear front and put the shawl with her picture of her wearing it, I have my great grandma table cloth and a picture of her table with it on it and I put all in the box and it hangs on my wall . So so precious. Thank you for sharing this beautiful memory and honouring your grandma 👵
Thank you for sharing❣ It's so beautiful❣🥰❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! How special!
So gorgeous!
I’ve made this shawl in cotton polyester blend with neutral colours. It’s gorgeous and really large. Love love love it. ❤
Sounds great Shara! Thank you, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks how was your trip?
I believe this is the second time that I have watched this video. I love the smoothness and the color. I will try to recreate it too. My name is Ana and I love the shawl has her name, too. I already have chosen my yarn, so I hope to make it soon, with the other Ophelia Crochet WIPS, mind you! Thanks for your tutoring!
You're most welcome Ana, I hope you will enjoy your crocheting time, and the resulting item, Anja x
You wearing Anna's Shawl alongside your Grandmother shows more than Love, Family and Endearing Nostalgia.
This also shows the enduring beauty of our craft and it's worth and value.
This beautiful shawl which lovingly remains beautiful, fashionable and wearable after half a century reminds us our craft is worthy of our time, effort and expense.
Let none of us feel guilty for spending a little more for quality.
Thank you Anja for again giving us a smile for our body, mind and spirit.
I watch, rewatch and binge watch your videos.
Thank you a thousand times.
Bless you .:*:.
I just completed my Anna Shawl in a 4 weight Azure blue color. Again I lightly washed it and will apply the fringe when dry. This was an easy and fun project with the decreasing stitches each row. For some reason the triples work up fast. I work on several projects at one time - seems to make all go faster. Next I’ll make this one again in a lighter weight. I do enjoy your tutorials and envy your smooth technique. I still look like I’m trashing through the jungle but get the job done. From hot 🥵 north Texas only 100 today!
Oh thank you Deborah, the shawl sounds lovely. Practice brings results!! Anja x
Thanks for this video, this shawl is so beautiful and easy with your tutorial.love from Italy😍🌷🌼💙💛
I have just finished this one it is beautiful thank you Anja
I would like to thank you and also your grandmother for this marvellous shawl ❤

This is something my sister has been looking for she wants a long shawl that they would show in the old westerns like Little House on the Prairie or Gunsmoke those shows always had woman wearing a shawl in winter but men wore coats she likes the long long shawls
That's wonderful. Maybe you can crochet one for her? Thank you for watching Donna Worlock ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
Thank you so much for this pattern a really beautiful shawl
Wow amazing!
Thank you, so glad you think so! Anja x
Omg! How beautyful!! And it looks so easy and i think i give it a try!!
Thanks for sharing and showing!😘
Hi Anja! I wonder how old your grandmothers shawl is. It is iteresting to know the background of an item when working on it. Specially when you gift it to somebody you can tell something about the item😊
I really enjoyed it, it is a beautiful shawl it's so nice that you have a shawl that your grandmother wore . I'm going to try the crochet it.
Absolutely lovely. Such a nice idea and tribute to your grandma.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching my video Marion Mathews and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
This looks so beautiful!
Lovely, I have so many ideas to do with this pattern as well as your Moeke inspired Anna's shawl!
Thank you!!
Very nice, Anja. I especially like your pink & brown yarn.
So pretty! Those pink and burgundy tones look so nice on you!
This is one of my favorite Ophelia videos! The love for your grandmother shines through so well. The shawl is beautiful. Congrats on being so close to 60,000 subscribers. I would love to have a chance to win the bundle of hiyahiya hooks. Thank you!
Absolutely in love with this pattern ❣️Thank you so much for showing us the tutorial ❣️🌷❣️
Lovely!
Both of them
That is a beautiful shawl. Love the picture. Great tutorial. Thanks
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! I want to make it- I’ve only really ever made pretend doll blankets so I don’t have to follow a pattern. My grandma taught me a few stitches when I was little. This will be my first true project. In the previous video you mentioned your grandmas shall was a bit larger than the pink one you made. In this tutorial are your number of stitches going to make one the size of your pink one or the size of your grandmother’s? If it’s the size of your pink one, how many extra chain stitches would we need to start with to make it larger like the green one? (And how much yarn is need for each size please 🤗) Again, beautiful!!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Is the stitch repeat 4 stitches? I need to make mine much larger. Thank you for sharing your grandmother’s beautiful shawl.
This is a lovely shawl. I have made it several times. Thank you for the great tutorial.
You’re very welcome 😊 Kylie, I'm so glad you like it so much, Anja x
So lovely, a wonderful tribute to your gran.
Glad you enjoyed it Barbara, Anja x
So pretty!
Thanks for watching. Glad you like it. Anja xxx
What a brilliant tutorial! Thank you. I love the shawl, love its history, entirely enchanting! X. (How much yarn will I need? I’m sorry if I missed it!)
I like the box idead thats really neat could you make another shawl with maybe like a dc shells and maybe some single chrochet I think this pattern is nice but Id prefer a smaller shell Id love to have this design hanging in my closet :)
This looks beautiful!
It's gorgeous!!! Oh, and so is yours. I'd love to have a go at this!!❤❤❤
Go for it! Thank you for watching Jennifer Lang ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
@@OpheliaTalks you're welcome!!❤❤❤
This is so BEAUTIFUL and so cool that it is your Grandma's shawl copy. I LOVE the picture, you shared with us, of her wearing it. Thank you for that! I love the older patterns you do. ❤ Is that your Grandpa in the picture beside her? I love those old photos. Cherish them. Love from the state of Georgia, USA.
What a treasure! This is a lovely pattern. ❤️
Thank you! 😊 Thanks for watching my video Ruth Goebel and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
Love your Grandma’s beautiful Shawl, thank you for sharing it with Us! 😍❤️😍 I would to make myself one, but I’m a plus size, can you please share the pattern repeat stitch count? Because I’m thinking it might be Four! Any help or suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated! Thanking you in advance!
This is so beautiful. I love it. A future project for my daughter and daughter in law.
Thank you so much for sharing this.😃
These are so adorable. I love the colors.

Hi
Beautiful shawl. You do look like your grandfather.
Oh thank you! Thank you for watching sharon gibson ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
Very very nice and easy project to do. It will be my next ;-) Thanx sooo much :)
I just want to know who much yarn it takes?!
Very nice
That's gorgeous! I'm definitely going to make this. Could I please ask what the multiples are as I'd like to make a bigger one if possible. Thank you for sharing this piece of history x
Anja, this is simply beautiful. Can you let us know how many yards or meters of the final project? 😍 Also, since could you post the measurements of your grandma's shawl and yours? Thanks
👩🌾🏠How nice to repeat and renew your Granny's Shawl🤗
U look lovely 😍😍😘
Thank you 😊 Anja x
Lindo. Parabéns
Thanks for watching my video Solange Paula and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
Would love to make this gorgeous shawl but I find working in the back bumps really tricky despite many attempts. Will the shawl be affected if I don't?
very nice. Would be nice to know how much yarn you need for the full shawl.
Thanks for watching. Glad you like it. I use three balls. Anja xxx
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you, will try to make this lovely shawl. ;)
beautiful. how much yarn did you use?
I think you have to buy the pattern on Ravelry in the link posted in the description box because their is M-L in sizes. 😊
Ravelry says 656-875 yds using Dk yarn
I modified the stitch on 2nd row of pattern doing 2 trebles before single treble of row below chain 1 then 2 trebles after. In other words, I separated the shell using the single treble of row below so ch 1 is above it. Hope that makes sense.
well done. Thanks for watching my video Ms Bryant and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
I believe I need to leave a comment to have a chance to win your giva away, I already have won anyway with this lovely shawl
Mine came out so bad so wrong doesn’t lay flat. Gonna redo watching closely. In chunky
I have a pkt of 4 magic glitz from ice yarns. Would a packet be enough yarn?
yes of course!!
Did you miss count or did I? At 252 chs, 252hdcs, I only got 2 small was and 62 large sqs, not 64 as you said...I trigger in back to the beginning, started over, still only got 62 large boxes. Help!!!
Anja, what is the name of that Ice yarn variegated shown here? I love it. I finished the Anna Shawl in Red Heart Amethyst color, it turned out great. Thanks for sharing the pattern. Love you.
Magic light. There is a link in the box to it! Don't forget Sharoncat2008 I do a live video on Sundays at 20.30 GMT, be there for live interaction with me! Thank you for watching and keep crocheting! Anja xxx
thank you, I found the place to buy it, it's from overseas and I was a little hesitant, but I still might try. I love that color. I finished my Anna Shawl in Amethyst, bright purple with 4" fringe instead of the 6" and it looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pattern. I watched on Sunday. I was the suggesting eating licorice because it's cleaner on the hands while crocheting, lol. You said you prefer chocolate, don't like licorice. It was a lot of fun this week and every week. Have a good week.
I’m following your stitch counts very carefully, but I can’t get to the correct number of boxes on the second row. Is I possible that the chain & hdc rows should be 62 +2 rather than 52 +2 ? I’m going to give it a try, I think. Thank you for the pattern. X
chrissie hardman first row is 64 boxes and two half ones and second row is 65 boxes
Thank you, Anja, I got there in the end! I really shouldn’t start a new piece late in the day, my brain’s too tired! I think I’m going to love this shawl, I really do.
hey Anna :) with all my most respect I love the top then downward pattern worked here there dont seem to be anymore on youtube could you make a more enclosed pattern
Hi Virginia, I will put it on my list for future projects, thank you, Anja x
have you made any more shawl patterns that is worked from top to the very bottom
I’d love to know the color and brand name of your nail polish!
For those who need to make a larger shawl, the stitch repeat is 4. Or precisely 4 + 4 ( 4 for your boxes and 2 each end).
I would like to win the hiyahiya hook set.
Good luck
If I made a Reading Shawl using this lovely PetrolBlue yarn-
How would I know how many backs to buy?
The Reading Shawl - was about 1500 yards of the dk
Any ideas how to covert that to that would be in the #5
It all depends how many rows you will be doing, I suggest getting more yarn than you think. It’s always better to have leftovers than run out and not being able to get more yarn, Anja x
Ophelia, I really want to make this pattern . I would like to make it 60" to 72" across. How would I enlarge it ? How many extra stitches etc.?
I make my shawls with a fingertip to fingertip chain, if you need it bigger just add more chains, Anja x
It has a 4 stitch repeat. As long as it’s divisible by 4 and from finger tip to fingertip it should work. I always add a few extra stitches because I like mine a bit wider. Note: If you tend to crochet tighter as you go then you may want are tight crocheter may want to add a few stitches. If you crochet looser as you go, you’ll crochet a few less stitches. Also you can always add a few extra rows of your edge to achieve the length you want.
What does sk mean in row 1
Deborah hamsho skip
Skip what then chain 252?
Ok thanks for the tutorial.... Sk meant slip knot.....u naughty lady
Deborah hamsho yes it’s either sk or SK and generally sk is skip and SK is slipknot but I had no idea what part of the pattern in row 1 you were quoting anyway if you watch the video it should be clear!! Glad you worked it out!!
what color Ice is this and how many skeins to make the Anna Shawl?
Magic light pink. I used 3 balls. Thank you for watching Sharoncat2008 ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
