Actually (April 2022) there seems to be a new version of the ISDT ESC70, which some (not all) customers received from Amazon (Germany) and which has a "New" sticker on the backside. This seems to work flawlessly (?), only few reports to date...

Hi, so sorry for the bad using experience. With urgent investigation, the ESC70 you got is an unfinished engineering version product, (the laser engraving is on the side, but the latest version's is on the front), it came to the market for some unknown reasons.

the esc is really great but have some flaw, and most of those flaw come from the app, the only good thing i like from 1080 is the easy configuration and they stay like way you want, sometimes using a app to do what programming can do is not always a great solution, but for me you are the one show most of the problem even you show how true is the esc, for now i stick with the 1080
I just received mine on 10/21/22….. and it works great!….fairly easy to set up and a breeze to change parameters too, I almost didn’t order it, but figured they would finally have the bugs worked out…… and they do!!
Yes, seems to work quite well now. Also no problems in my forums anymore. Only this "rpm control" seems still a bit strange. Many people also use the ESC now for "normal" cars, not crawlers (me, too).

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I had high hopes for this ESC, but have a world of problems with it. Firstly had all issues mentioned here about saving settings etc. Eventually got it updated to 1.0.0.10 firmware and that seems to have resolved that to a manageable level, still won't save settings occasionally though.
My main issue now is that sometimes it just won't power up at all on 3s! This seems to be random now, but previously it would straight up refuse to work on 3s. 2s works every time! I've tried with different batteries at different levels of charge and it's exactly the same. I'm in contact with ISDT to resolve at the minute, so am holding off doing a video on my channel, but it is taking too long to resolve in my opinion.
another awesome review. at that price I will getting one of these for some kind of project. I'm hopeful it will only get better. 👍
I love their battery charging systems but I will say their mobile applications definitely need some more work that is there one drawback
Thanks for the review. Interesting that I had no problems with the app storing settings. I use a Samsung s9 phone. The only thing I have found is that it is really sensitive to throttle neutral position before it starts up. I'm on the same firmware as you. And use a Radiolink RC6GS transmitter.
Thanks A buddy from German rockcrawler forum also does have problems with neutral position in the Radiolink. About 20 people there do already have this ESC and not a single one does not have any problems. Guess you are the first one who reports no problems (never) saving the settings.
Good review, I have one of these in my Amazon basket. But until they have sorted the bugs out it`s staying in the basket.
Thanks for sharing, I was going to return my esc. I got the ESC90 had a ringing noise upon acceleration that I do not like learned from u adjusting to 16 took care of that. Don’t like the sudden stutter from esc that happens randomly

i am trying to use a spektrum dx5 radio and it wont seem to work with this esc. the app opens and bluetooth conects but it wont actually show the esc in the app, the esc reboots and goes to flashing red after it conects and the app goes to home screen but never actually shows the esc to calibrate or do any settings, when i look on isdt website it states wont work with dsm2 but doesnt actually mention dsmr so not sure if i have a esc issue or a incompatible issue,,,,,,frustrating,,,,,

The "release version" hasn't gotten any better in the month since this video went live. Interesting to see how vocal folks are in their defense of it, while in the two videos I've made on it it doesn't work well enough to actually use. If I had had any expectations of this ESC I would be more angry than disappointed. I'm just disappointed.
I know and wonder if I should make a 4th update video. Think no sense, read the forums. Super angry about Exocaged RC. With such videos he looses all his reputation.
@@donaldsneffe I take all RUclips reviews with a grain of salt after all of the glowing reviews and praise convinced me to try a Redcat Wendigo, and it was AWFUL. I had read some bad about the ESC70, but foolishly decided to "find out for myself." It's bad. Sadly, it seems like there's not a whole lot of transparency in the reviews from the "big channels."
@@CrawlerCanyon They really changed, changed to bad IMO. Exocaged was top years ago, I really like(d) his channel, his tire tests, his servo tests, ... but this review was horrible IMO, fooling viewers. Surprised so many positive comments to his review... in the forums (my forum, German) about 30 people do have the ESC70 now (or even more) and there are 90% complaints, many, who bought the ESC from Amazon, sent it back.
Same with RCReview... sad to see where those channels go (but for example the last video about the tuned Gladiator by the young guy was awesome).
I still do not sink the ESC70, even preordered another one from BG, because it is so cheap.
Maybe ISDT will sort out the problems. There seems to be a new firmware version every other day now. Many people had problems because update did not work, froze, and then the ESC did not work anymore (paramenters could not be changed anymore).
IMO ISDT released this ESC much too early. They should have tested it intensly before release or sent it to reviewers (honest ones) and ask for their opinion.
For example Modellbau-Regler.de did it this way with their awesome new ASX24. Took time for development, then they sent the first version to some experienced hobbyists (including myself) and asked for their opinion. Then they changed some settings according to the testers comments and now, finally, after quite a time, it will be released. But that's "German way of engineering" vs. "Chinese way of engineering", Chinese way will for sure make more (fast) money, German way gives better reputation and customer satisfaction.
I just received mine from Amazon. No leads what so ever. No white middle wire like yours. Gotta solder it up we shall seeee!
The white wire is only on the Amazon picture, not on the "real" ESCs. Wonder what the soldering spot on this location is fore... maybe brushless planned for future?
Its being a pain won't Bluetooth pair just button flashes blue for like 15secs. Its been calibrated and runs but I need it tunned for crawling. Damn this thing should have just gotten another noble hobbywing 1080. Welp back to Amazon
@@redndeyes I also do prefer wires to bluetooth. However, I think the throttle curve is a cool gadget in this ESC.
great review...id rather have my hobby wing 1080 esc by far man..im glad i have 5 of them with 3 in my trail trucks and 2 just waiting on deck...im not saying down the road it wont be a nice esc but to compare it to the 1080 and do a big review on it just to sell out your link was bullshit...they need to update the app fix lots off little things then re launch the esc..but to say out the gate its better then a hobbywing 1080 was straight bullshit period...a month ago is was the number 1 buy for a trail /crawler now its old news..i like rc review but its videos like that that make me realize its a youtube business and he will say anything to make a buck or get a free esc that needs more tuning up....

"rcreview" on the other hand has quite a lot of issues. From constantly mixing up electrical terms up to even dangerous (mis-)information, as seen on his lipo-videos.
Worst thing in his latest review about this ESC was when he showed the APP was recognizing a 3S battery which he praised but was on a 6V cutoff which he completely ignored.
@@sharkey9 oh i watched it brother and the donald guy review was soooooo great idc if it was long it was honest and thats all i want is honesty..yes its a cheap budget esc but to say its better then the proven 1080esc was just crazy to me when 2 videos ago it was the number one option to buy on a crawler/trail truck build ...but i get it they send u the product and a link and say we will give u a small portion of the sales and everyone heres 25 and buys it...but for 15 bucks more u could get a proven 1080 that works amazing and yes u will buy 5 1080s and get 5 program cards ...andddddd...so what...u have extras..at least there not saying we sold a 1080 so use the other program card...so i dont mind that..but a nit picker will nit pick the dumb shit....im not saying the esc wont be good in the future..but i seen so many issues on the app alone and i have 3 1080esc in my running trail trucks..and 2 1080s to go in my winter build and my rc4wd xtra cab rtr when the stock esc goes...i like his channel dont get me wrong but every now and then he jumps out the window so im sorta use to it....
@@josecanseca8979 I like his channel too, watch most of his videos, but... worst things are his Lipo, charging, (Lipo fire) videos... some of them are really dangerous and he proves in nearly every (Lipo) video that he does not have any knowledge in this area at all, he still does not know what charging current is... stopped watching his Lipo/charging videos (because I got so angry after the Lipo fire video).
@@donaldsneffe yup i agree...and he will not tell you about the v rating on the receiver and it will not work bc u will over power it and wonder why your rc isnt turning on..or he will say just put ur servo for 7.4v but the max is 6.8v and yes sometimes it will work but u wont get the longevity of the servo bc u over powered it
@ donaldsneffe Do you have to keep the Bluetooth on your phone on and close by to be able to use this ESC? I can’t just turn the Bluetooth off on the phone and exit the App then run it?
For using the ESC (running the car) I did not need the phone/BT. Did you save settings?
Sorry, it is long time ago, cannot exactly remember anymore and did give away my 1/10 stuff, so do not have the ESC anymore.
I figured it out thanks! The esc will run normally without having to be paired with BT I was little worried LOL thought it only worked long as it was connected to my BT.
What on earth, how can they sell the ESC with apps that don't work correctly. No drag brake in crawler mode? What is the point of this ESC exactly haha. Great content 👍

He told me he sold 20 via Amazon, earned 1%, about 20 bucks, and did 10 hours of testing - so not much money for the work ;-) (I did for sure not test 10 hours ;-) ).

Would this work good with a spektrum DX6R
Should work with any radio. Works with all my car radios, but I do not have a Spektrum DX6R.
Also bei mir funktioniert das nicht, kann die App zwar öffnen, aber nichts einstellen
... sehr viele haben Probelme. Dann fragt man sich, wie z.B. Exocaged oder RcReview solch positive Reviews veröffentlichen, könnte man schon als "Verarsche" bezeichnen, Hauptsache sie verkaufen genug...
I think the biggest problem with this esc, that will NEVER be fixed, is that we won't understand, and isdt won't explain to us, why certain options will only work with certain other options on/off. We will never know those relations between options, as Donald almost(?) discovered some, and those relations might exist, cause isdt thought... And they will never change it. Furthermore a patch, is a piece of code, that fixes 1 problem, and introduces 2 new problems. This app having many issues already, still needs popup instructions, popup warnings, popup "related settings have to be on(/off)", still needs fixing many issues, and once they start messing arround with it, adding stuff, it will start becoming a bigger mess than it is.
I was really worried, couldn't afford a dud, this showed up, i knew the risk, pulled the trigger, shot a dud.
I'm screwed.
Set it to professional user / forward-reverse / PWM 16 kHz and you will have a nice, cheap crawler ESC where you can play around with throttle curve and easily adjust BEC voltage, and have a strong BEC. I guess it is still worth the 25 bucks. But of course I can't understand how a company can release a product with so many flaws.

@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 Normal dragbrake in crawler (forward/reverse) mode works, same as you can set in the 1060 with the pins.
I could've bought hobbywing 1060 V2 esc from Poland with warranty for less and i'd be laughing now i guess.

Ich hab bei meinem die drag brake auch mit Forward/Reverse eingestellt bekommen....du musst erst drag brake aktivieren während for/Rev/brake an ist und danach dann auf Forward/Reverse wechseln....dann funktioniert es auch 😉
Auch bei 10 und 20? Die "Active Dragbrake"? Zittert der Motor dann nicht? Laut Manual geht das nicht... Normale Dragbrake hat er ja eh...

So normal drag brake works in crawler mode just not active drag oh well for the money I mean uts cheep
And 1080 dosnt have active drag just 1 to 9 setings
I thought active brake was for racing when you throttle off the car aplies brake to corner save you doing it. I maybe wrong anyway order this 3 weeks ago amazone just wating on dilivery if its not good my boy can have it in one of his crawlers 😀
I am not into racing so do not know what active brake (ABS?) really does. But active dragbrake should keep the truck on throttle (input) speed when descending, so a kind of FOC (Hobbywing), at least this is what I always thought. I am not a professional and I could be wrong. However, do not know how you would need this in an onroad car.
For 25 bucks it is ok, and it works... still those bugs are annoying.

I've never raced but do have a race motor and ecs and it has a drag brake seting 10 to 50% its only a guess that it would apply drag rather than having to brake on a fast corner to alow the car down ery much like an abs may e this is why it's only acsesable in fwd brake rev ? Realy dont no but if every thing els works its damn cheap esc with alot of features great review new sub 👌
As soon as Ive turned the app on I got a firmware update app seemed more stable haven't lost bt at all yet maybe you can do an update
@@tdrcadventures8808 I did this update before I made the video. I told it in the video, updating firmware was also the first thing I did with my ESC70, did not even try it without updating. Guess I cut the part of the (too long) video, where I told that when first trying to update it it froze at 44%, waited for about half of an hour, then switched off everything and tried again. And then in worked (in cotrary to a Furitek Lizard, where I had had the same problem).

Good ideas horrible software. I been working on esc70 for more than a week and nothing. About to throw it in the garbage and get another 1080. Bought mine on Amazon
I gave up on mine, the software is too buggy and esc is just ok

Some love it, some hate it. Guess if you don't set up tand use he FOC for your crawler, you are quite fine with the ISDT70. It is super cheap...

Not so cheap. Take a look at BL HELI32 drone ESC for crawlers. And in use with outrunner BL motors 28 to 35 size - the outperform any brushed setup.
Mine seem to be broken. I will try to get a refund and "bin it" . Done with ISDT. Had same poor experiance with their charger.
@@kmet2000 I am a big fan of their old chargers, SC-620 and 608 still my favourite ones... (also had T8 and Q6), but the new P60 (?) is crap, bought 5, 4 did not work, got money back. Love my small old ISDT power supply, my discharger, my volt checker... but new products seem to have decreased in quality. All my favourite ISDT products are discontinued ;-)
I used BL heli a lot (flashed dozens of ESCs) from around 2011 (or 10? When Stefan Skaug released it, I even got ESCs from him from Norway before first release) for my micro helis... but not in trucks... I know, there are some fans (also in my German language forum there is a long thread about BL heli ESCs for crawlers). Actually don't wanna mess around with this ;-) (more into micros and brushed is good for me for my 1/10).
