  • My Seiko SNKM97 is not running well. A whole 12 hours of wearing got only 30 hours of power reserve. I put it on this morning and after an hour it was 20 minutes slow because it had just stopped. Probably typical Seiko poor QC and incompetent lubrication.

Most informative. I have pondering the thought of getting one. Do you think that you might gotten a bad from stock?

Benny Benitez I got my hands on another one of these, and it has been completely reliable. So the first was just a bad’un.

I have the Seiko SKX 007 with the same movement & I find if I shake it for a good minute it lasts me a good 40hrs easy with normal wear, the power builds as you go about your business; I think that you may have a faulty mechanism.
The movement isn't necessarily cheaper than the hackable watches it's just an older movement from Seiko (pre hackable & hand winding). I own Seiko hackable 4R36 & love them but I also love these older 7S26 movement, they are solid work horses, as long as you don't get a faulty one. I've just ordered this same watch & hopefully it will work perfectly as it's a stunning watch.
It will be interesting to see your mod, please RUclips it.
    Bless

Gary Willacey Thanks Gary. Since this video I actually agreed to return the watch, which was indeed faulty, to the dealer and I found exactly the same watch a week later on eBay. Touch wood this one seems to be working absolutely fine and, as you say, it starts up with a good shake. Cheers.

So which movement would choose to install?

Benny Benitez Maybe a 4R36. I’d have to check that it was suitable size-wise.
