Second time I've watched this because it is the best documentary on her life. I went down to the Porum area many years ago and found the gravesite long before it had signs and publicity. I was directed to her gravesite by an elderly neighbor lady in the area. It was very hard to find...and those deep woods sure had a lot of ticks. Another great one Jerry !

As someone who has been an information junkie for 40 years I have watched easily thousands of documentries. I much prefer watching a documentary then a Hollywood version of events, concepts, etc. What I appreciate is your relaxed approach of naarration. And as someone who has researched many conspiracies it is good to have references such as yours that has good information that isn't embellished or glorified as the corporate press does.

I agree with Elijah. These stories are very well done. I have enjoyed watching some of them not knowing anything about these people not being American myself and you talk in such a relaxed manner that I really enjoy. And you seem to have really researched your stories. I also love all the pictures you show of everything so it's easier to get a picture in your head of everything. Thank you!!

I am 83 years old and lived south of Fort Smith in my youth. I lived in Paris, Texas and then west of Dallas. My Grandad told me some things about Belle Star, but he didnT know much about her. I guess the best way, for me, to describe Jerry's documentaries, is that he makes the people living flesh and blood and humanizes them in some way. He shows that they were husbands, wives, sons, and daughters.
    Very good, Jerry thank you.

In every modern tv show and movie you see where ladies ride it's often astride and rare to actually see them on sidesaddles. This proves that no matter how tough and robust some of these past ladies were some of them still definitely rode sidesaddle in fashionable habits. I enjoyed your video and the photos very much. Well Mr. Skinner, you've done it again. What an interesting short documentary about another western legend. I'd only read about Belle Starr through those old paperback novels my father used to read religiously (a great cowboy and indian reader BTW) and through those I always thought Belle to be another fiction dreamt up by one of those many novelists. Still as they say, the truth is stranger than fiction and probably dosen't sell newspapers too well.

W-ithout a doubt, Belle knew EXACTLY who her murderer was. The second shot is SO telling. A shot to incapacite her, but hopefully just enough to let her be able to see who was about to take her life. A shot to the face would be just the thing to send her on to her Just Desserts, including that few seconds of terror on her last moments on Earth. Mr. Skinner, you are the ABSOLUTE MASTER !! I could almost hear the gun shots, the hooves of the horses & the fear. THANK YOU !!

It is obvious this woman was very intellegent anf way ahead of her time. One can only wonder what she might have accomplished if she had been born a 100 years later. I wonder why Hollywood has ignored her especially since her type of tough strong woman is popular these days. With her mind she would have made an awsome attorney.

Another 👍🏻. And the photos! Amazing. And Bud, what a good big brother. Everyone back then should’ve been able to ride (drive) and shoot (hunt). And sits sidesaddle? Wowzer. I’ve read a few things about her. Not sure what to think about her🤔.

+Jerry Skinner beg pardon, sir, but I caint quite figure your accent. I'm thinkin northern Arkansas, or eastern south Carolina. maybe Tennessee? my kin are all through them places, including south eastern Missouri. but wherever your from, I sure like listening to y'all. (my guess would be Jones county Arkansas...?

It's a fairly common "Southern accent". Most of my family for many generations live in North Alabama, near the Tennessee border, and they all speak very similar. My parents moved to central Florida in 1969 when I was 7 years old. Even though we visited my people every year in Alabama, I never developed the "Southern accent" due to being raised down here. Florida must have more people "from everywhere else" than any other state I reckon....lol. Dad was an Alabama man, most of my mother's people were from western Pennsylvania.......and I'm raised in Florida......so I'm all jacked out of shape....lol.
