Took this tip till the course today and shot 9 under my handicap, and won the competition. Great tip for anyone coming over the top. Flushed my drives all day. Keep up the great content
This is so timely! I went to a practice at a simulator this morning and realized that my club path was off because I was already arcing due to being set up too far forward. Glad to have my thoughts confirmed and a great way to see it visually!
Has anyone noticed golf RUclipsrs all hit on the same topic at roughly the same time? Usually in the same week you'll see Rick, this guy, saguto, etc choose the exact same topics. Case in point, I've seen several driver ball position videos in the last week eschewing the traditional lead heel.
@@simon1841 i have adjusted my ball position back @2 inches a few weeks ago but continue to see a few address this. Perhaps its the British pros who see one vid and decide, "hey that would make a good 5 minute utube vid"! Make some more $$ off the numerous desperate hackers..😄
Tried this on my next round and was amazed, fixed my slice and the next round I did the same with the same result so now feel loads more confident teeing up with driver!
You have an older video explaining this same concept and it helped me immensely. I had a massive slice to the right that I've managed to mostly correct to a nice straight drive by moving the ball position back and really focusing on crossing my right arm over the left to close the club face during the swing. Exactly as you demonstrated in this and the older video. The next step that helped me make it more consistent was to "push" with my front leg to help bring my hips around fully. This I got from a Jake Hutt short. Now I just need to get the repetitions in to make it muscle memory.
I remember watching a Mark Crossfield video years ago, in which he said "think about ball position as a playing field", some will find their optimal ball position a little further forward, some a little further back, totally dependant on how each individual move there body in the swing.
Alex I saw this video quite by chance before I went to the range this morning so I thought I’d try it . I can honestly say although there are a lot of Driver ball positions videos out there at the moment using your method I actually hit my driver the straightest I have ever hit it without doubt the straightest. So thank you and maybe all golfers struggling with their driver should take another look at their ball position
I've wondered about this. Because it seems when i make a concerted effort to put the ball off my left heal, it seems to not go as planned, but if I naturally just walk up and get comfortable, I'm more like a club-head in, and it goes a lot more smoothly. Definitely trying this at the range later.
Question, as almost everyone advocates having the ball forward in the driver swing, along with the shoulder tilt - Why/how does the club head not ground out before it reaches the ball....Especially as everyone advocates keeping the tilt/lean back, so you can hit up on the ball
Alex I’ve just applied you driver ball positioning on the course and it has worked a treat, the slice has gone!!!!!!!! Is there a similar video for irons
Can you do the ball strike on the face diagram with ball direction from slice to draw. And do the ball position with the different strikes. Right now I close my face slightly at address and the stance is closed with front foot ahead of back foot. Ball placement is at the heel of front foot. I am then near center on the club face to just off toward heel or toe, and ball goes pretty much dead straight. How to change so that I can gain control of a slight fade or draw?
Excellent job Alex in explaining where the proper ball position should be for Driver! Very interesting in how you attained the proper ball position by your feet set up at address! I will definitely be looking into this since I am naturally an in to out swinger. Well Done Alex! Keep up the good work!
this seems brilliant can’t wait to try out this subtle difference! how would you say moving the ball back this much affects swinging driver up into the ball though?
forgot to mention i’m encouraged about this because my fairway woods which i already play in the clubhead inside left heel position typically have a straighter or slight draw shape, while driver typically fades and harder to turnover.
dear alex your video s have been a huge help to me my drives not bombs but i now find i am hitting 70% of fairways my chipping far more consistent i play a lot on my local coarse priors hall northants and got the shock of my life when we played glen gorse leicestershire sure i hit loads of fairways but the ground was like looking at the ocean all wavey undulating they called it my ball was always on the bloody down slope and i couldnt hit one bloody ball of of these slopes can you help
Great video. How come many club golfers all seem to have the same faults? Mine is on the downswing I find it so difficult to swing down to the ball. I suppose the reason is I feel I lift my arms in the backswing but yet find it so difficult to lower them in the downswing. I feel if I do this I will hit way behind the ball. Any suggestions?
@@susancrowther9998 I’m not a coach but mine would tell you to relax, keep your back to the target as long as you can, point the butt of the club at the ball and f@@king hit it.
I always felt like if the shaft on the backswing was passing just under the top of my right shoulder then it was on proper plane to do this but of course I never do it consistantly. This reinforces that. Gonna try this first thing in the morning. Yeah it is a bitch being retired and playing 3 times a week..about all I can do.
you talked about teeing up the ball b4 and playing it more forward, It worked got rid of my slice it hasn't given me any real distance tho. Now this video your saying move it back, I'm confused.
Moving the ball forward for you got rid of your slice because you weren’t closing the face fast enough. Moving it forward gave you another millisecond of time to close down that face. This tip isn’t set in stone. It was for a golfer who was swinging over the top. Having the ball forward only made his swing path worse.
You are missing a very clear body movement. On his initial ones where you show the problem is he opens his lead hip too early and too far. Ball position and swing is affected by that.
Because frankly, thats something THAT SO MANY Golf RUclipsr channels "teached" and advised us to do exactly that for years. And suddenly all of us "are doing it wrong"? Come on, really?
Alex isn’t saying we’re all doing it wrong, the tip is for someone who was swinging over the top. If you swing over the top with the ball forward, moving it back naturally makes you swing more from the inside. It’s not for everyone just for people who have an out to in path this tip could help them.
Using ball position to fix your swing is inherently wrong. Yeah slight modifications is okay but moving ball position means you are trying to hit different type of shot. You gotta figure out what you are doing "wrong" in your swing. There is nothing inherently wrong with most ball positions; executing right swing path for certain ball position is what matters. If your swing path is outside in then put it all the way t the heel. If its othervise put it closer to the center; ie fade or draw.
*Just look at what ball position doing to your swing! It’s about stacking the domino’s in the correct order!*

I concur. Very weird 😮!
Yes, I watch a LOT of golf videos and am subscribed to quite a few and I've definitely noticed this.

Nice tip Alex. This worked a treat for me. It’s cured my annoying fade and given me an extra 25 yards. Many thanks
@Alex my new number one golf channel, the best out there as far as I’m concerned, awesome, new subscriber
I think this was one of your best teaching videos to date. I can’t wait to get to the driving range

Good video. You have done this a number of times in similar videos. Position the ball one club head inside your left heel.

This is pure gold. Can’t wait to bring this to the range and the first tee 😬
Great video Alex. Thank you 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️
Will try this out, thanks Alex

Loveeeed this!!!
If you’re looking to straighten out your drive, even more to the ball down a little lower, it flies straighter
Very good Alex

Yeah

easy way to remember is to put ball lined up with the left shoulder with driver , move back for irons.
If you move the ball in a club head you don't seem to be hitting up on the ball as much. Isn't that going to affect distance?
I wish it would be easy like that. 😉👍🏻🇨🇭

A closed face with the first swing is a dead pull, correct? That may convince a few folks that..ya that's what I'm doing
Intentionally closing the club face thru impact leads to inconsistency IMO...
You are missing a very clear body movement. On his initial ones where you show the problem is he opens his lead hip too early and too far. Ball position and swing is affected by that.

I’m not saying that ?
He’s never a Mid H/Cap Golfer with that swing!! No Chance!Unless he’s got a short game like Seve…..😂😂
Of course I am, otherwise you are out of worrk😂😂
The same mistake mid handicappers make when hitting driver is...hitting driver.
No you don't. That second shot is off your heel when looking head on. The first you played off your toe, which where most lost drivers tee it up.
Okay no probs

You don’t swing the club that far back at my level
