@@AvidMax even when I DONT catch fish, I’m never disappointed!!! I just enjoy making the flies! And who needs a bunch of dumb fish distracting me from a nice day standing in a stream!!! 😂🤣😂
@@AvidMax I made a handful of these tonight, and had a heck of a time with the legs!!! They always tend to point upwards. But they look good otherwise Thank you!
Newbie here. I've had to work really hard keeping the biots split, especially on the smaller hook sizes. On other patterns with other tail material, I've seen some tiers split the tail with the thread. Would that technique work in this pattern? And thanks for demonstrating this pattern on a rotary vice, confirms some techniques I've adopted by trial and error and showed me a few new things too. Like your service too with getting orders out the door.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, that technique could surely work. It's good to remember that there's always more than one way to achieve the same appearance!
great question! Tying on this style hook adds some curvature to the body, it allows us to use more of the hook shank and tie this in a quite small size while keeping a profile that gives the impression of movement in the pattern.
Pretty little bug! I like it. Gotta tie one and see if my fish agree!
You won't be disappointed!

How is this different than the standard copper john? It's looks great by the way.

@@AvidMax I thought everyone tied copper johns on curved hooks lol
