New villains are lame and they changed the personalities of the old villains. Princess Morbucks is a prime example of this. In the original her main goal is to either join the PPGs or destroy them for not letting her join. And she's a spoiled brat to boot. In the new version, she sounds like a valley girl who has her own passe (complete with a white tiger) and just acts like a spoiled teenager instead of a spoiled little girl.
The staff members have giant egos inserting themselves into any episode without a reason or context because they think nobody watching the show know it's them.

The Powderpuff Girls, not the Powerpuff Girls, ladies and gentleman, the world of no violence, no crime, no action, and no original voice cast for the girls, the main characters being made fun of by teenagers, going to high school, and having bad tantrums, and a whole bunch of filler, and a bunch of stuff that these people got rid of because they don't give a crap.
Dang. If they could pull off a nice current rendition of the old designs then WHY?! Seriously that one scene made me mad due to the what could have been. Even the shading of the lines (since PPG had the thick line style) weren't too dark just enough to distinguish it. Anyway yeah this episode is a dud if mainly due to the fact that the moral could be seen a mile away, the girls acting like brats instead of maybe I don't know bringing up legitimate reasons or facts to the professor on why they want to age. This was ample opportunity for a cameo from the kindergartners now aged up. Have them (or just one) question why the girls haven't aged and then have the girls worry that they are stuck like that or something. Maybe the professor agrees to give them a test and then finds out to his horror that they won't age or will age slower than non-powered people. Knowing how much of a psychological burden this would be to the girls, he makes the potion, gives the warning, etc. Also add in a subplot where the girls tell their former friends about the potion and how they will grow but then after drinking the potion and a day or week goes by with no results and more teasing from the students, they break his rules by drinking more than what he said. That way it keeps the elderly plot but also keep the moral intact. Thank you for this review and man did I have issues with it. Sorry again for the long comment.

This is going to sound weird but of the episodes you have reviewed thus far I can honestly say that this annoyed me the least. Granted, there was still a LOT of stupid in this but it didn't make me miffed like the other episodes. Maybe it was because even if the girls got older, they still made them....fun? I guess? I mean, they played up a lot of old stereotypes but they didn't go for the low brow and do a lot of old-people gross out jokes and honestly, seeing the other kids LIKE them as 'grandmas' was a little sweet and the twist of the kids beating up Mojo for messing with the 'grandmothers' was clever. BUT STILL SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL ON THIS. Heck, they could have made fun of the fact that the GALS could still kick ass as old people and just found out that even if they got older, they would still be heroes (though they still did in a way. Just not by fighting) but yeaaaaaah....nothing too interesting to say about this other than disappearing dog leash and Mojo has a mother.....I don't think mama Mojo would have liked her son being a lab monkey and then mutated but OKAY. ONE MOOOOOAR thing I would like to add to the whole school thing; yet again, the writers are taking a dive right into cliche town while spouting out how innovate they are. The girls being in kindergarten could be said was another pun on just how silly the idea of the entire show was. Let's back things up; during the time the series ORIGINALLY came out, we had adult super heroes, super heroes who were in middle and high school....but when do we have that many series when the heroes are in KINDERGARTEN. It might not seem like an important detail but it just accents how wild the concept of hyper violet heroes are when they're more or less five years old. THAT'S what made it funny and at times reminded us that at the end of the day the PPGs are little kids. Putting them in middle/high school more or less has saddled them in with every other animated show that is on now where EVERY story seems to take place in a middle/high school and any character who is outside that age bracket is just a side character. If the writers were so dead-set on doing something that was outside the box compared to so much shit that is on now, they wouldn't have done this because it DOES make it look like every other show on. Seriously, you lose some of the fun that came with the girls being crime fighting kindergarteners when you just shove them in the same tired middle school setting with BOOOOOOOOOOYS, POPULARIIIIIITY, BULLIES. Give me a break. None of those motivations made sense and even if the girls were put in an older setting you know that Blossom would have been the first of the three to find a niche given she was the most mature of the bunch with Buttercup being a close second. The only one I could see having trouble would be Bubbles because she really was the one of the three who did act her age the most but all three of them? They have so many advantages over the other kids that if there is any reason why the kids would have been rude to them it would have been because they were jealous THEY (the other kids) couldn't keep up, not vis versa. Also, showing that the animators could work with the old style using new animation tools. HAHAHAH no. I know I said of all the episodes I have seen, this was the one that bothered me the least but I still managed to find some crap within it.
One of the things I noticed about that epsiode was that in the flashback Bubbles had her old hair design. I don't know why, I just had to smile at that.
I'm watching these reviews, because I grew up with the original PPG, but this reboot just loves stabbing my childhood in the heart. Glad to see a true PPG fan that actually points all the problems with each episode. Keep up the great reviews Shadow Streak. :)
Shadow Streak Seems reasonable. I mean seriously. The people working on the reboot basiclly saw the show and decided to go the same route as Teen Titans GO has. They removed violence, because violence isn't the answer? They are superheroes for crying out loud. Superheroes are meant to stop crime and stop villians by using violence. Sure violence isn't the answer. but they can give kids that messege in more clever way. There are times violence is pointless, but at the same time it's the only way to stop bad guys from harming innocent civillians. Take an example from the original PPG episode were Mojo first time created the Rowdyruff Boys. Dumbing down charaters won't make the audiance laugh, it will piss it off more. -_-
I wish that the reboot got cancelled and the original show continued with Season 7. Then Powerpuff Girls will go back to what it used to be. So, who's with me?

Why Ms Keane didn't made a appearance in this episode at all ? I would at least expect her in the flashback. Also she probably could've play a major role in this episode since the first half of the story was focused on bullying.
Mojo messing with the PPG while they are old, and having a crime spree could have been funny. The entire time hes talking to his damn mom though it completely ruins any of it for me.*
Especially when you remember he doesn't have a mother who has the same ability to speak as he does. He was mutated in the lab when the girls were created so....either he did the same thing to his own mother or the writers are just pulling shit out of their asses again.

He's made up a mother who is more like him, and pretended the lab accident never happened! or you know the writers have NEVER watched PPG, they must of at this point i hope.
And another thing detestable about this episode is the whole "elders are gassy" cliches, mostly related towards Older Blossom. Toilet humor is sorta funny, but only if you use it in the correct way, like the show "Fleabag Monkeyface".
Also, on the continuation thing, it would be nice to at least give some sort of refresher of a character, especially if we haven't seen them in a while or to anyone who's joining in early. But that only needs to be done if it's different shows with years in between. This is probably the wrong video to talk about characters coming back, but it still talks about continuity.
It would make a bit more sense if this were the first episode as opposed to the 12th. But would an aging episode really leave a good first impression considering it's been done many times before? I don't know.

Shadow Streak your right they've always respects and treated the professor nicely why make them act like jerks to the person who created and raised them in this reboot. I can understand why did this to Mojo Jojo because he wanted to use them as pawns for his evil plan and acting bratty and spoiled that was hilarious as Mojo Jojo should of thought twice about being a babysitter in order to use them for his plan, yet the professor who they've always been grateful, respectful and thoughtful towards. The writers of this episode were being greedy selfish lowdown jerks don't do this to them they're great characters don't make them bratty, whinny and insufferable ingrates to the person who made them seriously that's messed up and wrong.

Possibly, I may actually save that for when the entire series ends because season 2 may or may not improve upon this one. Of course, that'd be a long time from now but I think it'd be worth the wait.
As a huge fan of dexter's laboratory, I honestly feel the kinda just ripped off the concept of "old man dexter" where he attempts to make himself older but due to a mistake, he ends up obviously very old. 10/10 on originality there, just take from your sister show. Aside from that, this episode i actually found funny. I just found it kinda hilarious mojo was dealing with mother issues even though that is a weird continuity error. though you do have a point in them being bratty, and i never understood the concept of why the PPG are not treated like celebrities to an extent. I guess the kids are just ungrateful. also i wish they actually did something with that monster cause it bothers me he exists for literally no reason.
+Shadow Streak they've already recycled old plots from the original, why not take from the show that ran beside the original? the same could be said for "bubbles of the opera" to an extent of the whole picture day plot, attempting to look better and instead looking worse.
Havent seen it yet. Though from the clips provided I would actually prefer the animation team for ttg work on the ppg reboot. I dont really like teen titans go either but i do like the comic book thick outline style.
I doubt that, from the clips and images I have seen. the two shows apparently take jabs at each other like "haha the teen titans dont care about fighting anymore" or "haha the ppg look like little babies" and it feels like two hobos fighting over a sandwich. both shows are not very good, so whats the point in taking shots when neither really come out a winner? as for the writing of teen titans go itself(as an individual show)....its meh. i dont like it but i dont hate it either. my worst complaint is that the toddler titans are just too childlish most of the time and the characters are either given ridiculous traits that dont really make sense or they're boiled down to one or two basic traits to make a running joke "funny". sooooo when I do get to see this crossover, i'll come back to whatever thread is relevant at the time. for now, i dont have many high hopes.

Yeah considering their behavior they aren't really kids anymore, and along with the fact that they're in grade school now the continuity would make a bit more sense. Though it's a big reason why a lot of people don't like the show; the way they act is a bit over the top in some situations.

Heck, they could have made fun of the fact that the GALS could still kick ass as old people and just found out that even if they got older, they would still be heroes (though they still did in a way. Just not by fighting) but yeaaaaaah....nothing too interesting to say about this other than disappearing dog leash and Mojo has a mother.....I don't think mama Mojo would have liked her son being a lab monkey and then mutated but OKAY.
ONE MOOOOOAR thing I would like to add to the whole school thing; yet again, the writers are taking a dive right into cliche town while spouting out how innovate they are. The girls being in kindergarten could be said was another pun on just how silly the idea of the entire show was. Let's back things up; during the time the series ORIGINALLY came out, we had adult super heroes, super heroes who were in middle and high school....but when do we have that many series when the heroes are in KINDERGARTEN.
It might not seem like an important detail but it just accents how wild the concept of hyper violet heroes are when they're more or less five years old. THAT'S what made it funny and at times reminded us that at the end of the day the PPGs are little kids. Putting them in middle/high school more or less has saddled them in with every other animated show that is on now where EVERY story seems to take place in a middle/high school and any character who is outside that age bracket is just a side character. If the writers were so dead-set on doing something that was outside the box compared to so much shit that is on now, they wouldn't have done this because it DOES make it look like every other show on. Seriously, you lose some of the fun that came with the girls being crime fighting kindergarteners when you just shove them in the same tired middle school setting with BOOOOOOOOOOYS, POPULARIIIIIITY, BULLIES.
Give me a break. None of those motivations made sense and even if the girls were put in an older setting you know that Blossom would have been the first of the three to find a niche given she was the most mature of the bunch with Buttercup being a close second. The only one I could see having trouble would be Bubbles because she really was the one of the three who did act her age the most but all three of them? They have so many advantages over the other kids that if there is any reason why the kids would have been rude to them it would have been because they were jealous THEY (the other kids) couldn't keep up, not vis versa.
Also, showing that the animators could work with the old style using new animation tools.
HAHAHAH no.
I know I said of all the episodes I have seen, this was the one that bothered me the least but I still managed to find some crap within it.

One of the things I noticed about that epsiode was that in the flashback Bubbles had her old hair design. I don't know why, I just had to smile at that.
I'm watching these reviews, because I grew up with the original PPG, but this reboot just loves stabbing my childhood in the heart. Glad to see a true PPG fan that actually points all the problems with each episode. Keep up the great reviews Shadow Streak. :)

Shadow Streak Seems reasonable. I mean seriously. The people working on the reboot basiclly saw the show and decided to go the same route as Teen Titans GO has. They removed violence, because violence isn't the answer? They are superheroes for crying out loud. Superheroes are meant to stop crime and stop villians by using violence. Sure violence isn't the answer. but they can give kids that messege in more clever way. There are times violence is pointless, but at the same time it's the only way to stop bad guys from harming innocent civillians. Take an example from the original PPG episode were Mojo first time created the Rowdyruff Boys. Dumbing down charaters won't make the audiance laugh, it will piss it off more. -_-

And another thing detestable about this episode is the whole "elders are gassy" cliches, mostly related towards Older Blossom. Toilet humor is sorta funny, but only if you use it in the correct way, like the show "Fleabag Monkeyface".

But that only needs to be done if it's different shows with years in between. This is probably the wrong video to talk about characters coming back, but it still talks about continuity.
It would make a bit more sense if this were the first episode as opposed to the 12th. But would an aging episode really leave a good first impression considering it's been done many times before? I don't know.

Actually, if we follow that logic and also as that Mojo calls The Professor his “father” and says that The Rowdyruff Boys are his sons, kinda like how The Professor is the girls’ father … did they actually kiss their half-nephews in those two episodes? Shadow Streak your right they've always respects and treated the professor nicely why make them act like jerks to the person who created and raised them in this reboot. I can understand why did this to Mojo Jojo because he wanted to use them as pawns for his evil plan and acting bratty and spoiled that was hilarious as Mojo Jojo should of thought twice about being a babysitter in order to use them for his plan, yet the professor who they've always been grateful, respectful and thoughtful towards. The writers of this episode were being greedy selfish lowdown jerks don't do this to them they're great characters don't make them bratty, whinny and insufferable ingrates to the person who made them seriously that's messed up and wrong.

As a huge fan of dexter's laboratory, I honestly feel the kinda just ripped off the concept of "old man dexter" where he attempts to make himself older but due to a mistake, he ends up obviously very old. 10/10 on originality there, just take from your sister show.
Aside from that, this episode i actually found funny. I just found it kinda hilarious mojo was dealing with mother issues even though that is a weird continuity error. though you do have a point in them being bratty, and i never understood the concept of why the PPG are not treated like celebrities to an extent. I guess the kids are just ungrateful.
also i wish they actually did something with that monster cause it bothers me he exists for literally no reason.

Havent seen it yet. Though from the clips provided I would actually prefer the animation team for ttg work on the ppg reboot. I dont really like teen titans go either but i do like the comic book thick outline style.
I doubt that, from the clips and images I have seen. the two shows apparently take jabs at each other like "haha the teen titans dont care about fighting anymore" or "haha the ppg look like little babies" and it feels like two hobos fighting over a sandwich. both shows are not very good, so whats the point in taking shots when neither really come out a winner?
as for the writing of teen titans go itself(as an individual show)....its meh. i dont like it but i dont hate it either. my worst complaint is that the toddler titans are just too childlish most of the time and the characters are either given ridiculous traits that dont really make sense or they're boiled down to one or two basic traits to make a running joke "funny".
sooooo when I do get to see this crossover, i'll come back to whatever thread is relevant at the time. for now, i dont have many high hopes.

Yeah considering their behavior they aren't really kids anymore, and along with the fact that they're in grade school now the continuity would make a bit more sense. Though it's a big reason why a lot of people don't like the show; the way they act is a bit over the top in some situations.

Shadow Streak you forget to mention that the PowerPuff Girls are 5 years old I thought you start Elementary School at age 6 or 7 that just makes no sense they're kindergarten age. why couldn't they think of a better plot of the girls being homeschooled until Pokey Oaks Kindergarten was rebuilt or go to a different kindergarten but can't because of the students from the elementary/middle school in this episode turning out to be super powered criminal evildoers who want to reshape Townsville in their own image because they viewing it as way too flawed and pathetic making the girls fight them and beat them up in order to save Townsville from them thereby stopping them and putting them in jail for their crimes with the original voice actors on the PowerPuff Girls and the old animation from the old show that would've been so much episode than this dud.
