AND until there are actually competition, like EA Live vs 2K, and heck maybe 2K Football vs Madden, or maybe other companies that can make a good sports game, 2K and Madden are at the top with no competition, if someone was just able to make a good game that can go against 2K or Madden, they would actually put some thought into the game and make some real changes. The player builder is nice and the city is cool, everything is overpriced as always. There’s no reason why a basketball game out of everything should encourage me to go outside and learn how to play properly from 2K’s mistakes. And it’s sad with the amount of times I’ve actually gone outside and hooped for a full hour or so to cool off from being mad at 2K.

This game has gone to shit My own teammates are blocking me and when you get screened a mile away you still get hit with the penalty. This game loves to foul you and tell you that your doing bad because of it. Steal attempts are tackles and almost always lead to a "Personal Foul". Flops are legit useless but when an AI does it they instantly get the foul. Shooting is broke as hell because even if you hit an almost perfect shot wide open it can just miss because of who knows what. Defense is actual trash and your character will constantly struggle. The VC gain is absolute garbage. Why am I still getting 750 VC when my upgrades require thousands? Game isn't all bad but hell if I can't even get my own teammates to pass me the ball without being penalized something is definitely wrong.
Don't you love how there's an invisible wall the AI can't walk past on the edge of the court, that your player constantly trips over? Or how they can literally walk right through your players but rematerialize just as they come in contact with the ball? Or how they have the balance of a circus acrobat and the reactions of a time traveller. Also straight up warping from one location or position to another. 2k Sports. It's in the game.
Ikr the AI literally is trash and somehow just gets the ball i remember once the AI turned around knew I was going to fucking pass
This is how it works. They make a game engine every 4 years, which lines up with the console releases. The thing they have to do yearly is:
- Change animations
- Change menu screens
- Add music
- MyCareer Mode storyline
Everything else will remain the same because the engine is the same.
2k used to change it up sooner, but they just dont care anymore.
I dont even blame 2k, I blame the community and EA for not providing any competition. As long as people keep buying this shit + myteam + vc they will not change it because it works from a business perspective
They also monetize the shit out of every aspect of the game. You even have to pay for animations?????The game feels like you living in an overpiced city and you get paid minimum wage. So you have selectively choose what your spend your vc on. The grind is unbarable, the accessories are over priced, honestly screw this game and 2k.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who hates this game. The crazy part is if the shot meter wasn't so bad I'd actually be able to tolerate everything else. The ball handling is still shit, it's still impossible to make it in the early first round of the draft

I have about 70 points with like 18 assists in the NBA finals in 2K21 MyCareer. It’s the end of the game. We are celebrating the championship. A second later (LITERALLY) I get kicked out of the game, and I have to start it all over. I actually started crying not even joking. Actual TEARS. I’m just so done.
That’s what I never understood with mycareer, in some stories you’re a top prospect in the country but start with low stats & 60 overall

@@alonedownthere47 yeah I’ve been playing 2K since 2K5 switched to live for 07-09 even had 2K9 all the way up til 2k21 so I know exactly how shitty it is I don’t need a video to tell me anything because I’ve played the game for 10+ years I literally grew up with the game. 2K has always had a large fan base which a lot of people also grew up still playing the game so I know many 20 year olds and 30 year olds who were playing back on 2k14-17 when it held more skill and competition they’ve lost that age group just look at all the top 2K content creators stepping away from the game. There’s no skill gap making the game more childish and arcade like. 2K didn’t use to appeal to just one specific fan base they just made a great competitive game. Now a 10 year old can start this game up for the first time and be a demigod first day with knowledge of basketball badges etc because they’re appealing to weaker players or casual fans not people who are loyal fans. You don’t need a video you’re right just log on and go to the neighborhood or city or whatever and look at how many courts are playing that’ll tell you everything

Bro so relatable. My player is a 7ft 69 overall coming into the league for the hornets and in my first game against the Lakers i get blocked by a 6ft + danny green. The entire game is rigged, my career, my team all rigged and stupid in terms of physics i bought the game thinking their would be change, but no. All they did was add a new neighborhood, shot meter, somehow downgraded the graphics and made it incredibly hard to make a single shot, like im so done with 2k..

I didn't pay $60, I waiting until the Thanksgiving day sale and paid $30. The same with 2k20. Went back to 2k20 and will never buy another 2k basketball. I left madden alone years ago because these games today are worse than the games in past years and that makes no sense. If people just stop buying this trash the 2k Devs will change how they do things, but they know we live in a dumb down society and that people want things instantly to just be the 1st to have it, so they will continue to put out copy and paste trash game play.

Finally! Someone speaks up that isn’t giving us bullshit quotas like most famous 2K RUclipsrs! This video was thorough, clear and pretty well formatted. Honestly, I know that the PS5 might bypass some of this but when has trailers from nba2k ever held its own?! People like to forget that nba2k18 had moves & animations that were in the trailer but never existed once you got the game. The trailers WISH their game was like it. Will people ever learn? But this game might actually be up there with 2K18 as one of second worst games of 2Ks entire library.
Me and my friends only thoroughly enjoyed 2K14, 15, 16, 17 & 20 (to an extent) and even tho majority of people didn’t like 17, it was pretty much the beginning of the end and we should’ve known better. That game is literally God compared to the ones that came after it. But yea we knew that 2K only cares about money and since nobody wants to talk about how clear it is really upsets me.. it truly does. I can’t believe that I have to not play any newer NBA2Ks because it no longer is rewarding nor is it newbie game friendly. Just like you said any kid who comes across this game will think to have to buy VC and use their moms credit cards to be able to have some sort of fun.
2K15 and 16 even tho you were a 65 overall or 67 I still had chances to win games and it was actually fun to play because your player wasn’t total garbage. I never needed VC for those games because it was fair and you felt like you were effective, even if you lost! But I’m glad in a way that I enjoyed the peak of NBA2K so it’s sad seeing it fall to corruption THIS EASILY. RIP but I appreciate you talking about most of our concerns when it comes to the game. Im going to share this video with as many people as I can because they CANT keep getting away with this..

You're right pointing out that 2K has pulled the ole bait and switch in the past by showing content in the trailers that isn't actually in the game at release. That's why I'm so skeptical seeing the next-gen trailer that came out yesterday. Also, you're spot on about 2K15 & 16, the progression was much better to the point where you didn't need copious amounts of VC in order to develop your player into a superstar. I remember that in only about 40 games without having to spend actual money, I was playing like an all-star shooting guard and leading the Pels to the number one seed in the West. And it wasn't nearly as boring having to play those games either because they kept giving meaningful incentives during the season. Here, playing 40 games feels like playing 400 games because there's nothing new. Thanks again for the watch and comment.

Man, i feel you, i loved some of the previous nba 2k's but things got out of control the last few years, and tbh i'll buy it, but ONLY when and if it comes on sale under 15 bucks, that's it. That's the price reasonable for a 5 year old game, which it is.
Edit:imma think about buying it on sale cause comment section got me worried about MyTeam mode being worse than last year...

The sad thing is that these bad designs still exist even though the game has already been released for almost a year.
They even took away animations like interviews where you could build/lose team chemistry or fans, meetings with sponsors in favor of text communication, and sponsor event animations for the heavier MyCareer players that don't really mess with online because the servers are the worst anyone has ever seen. To say this game is a copy and paste of '20 is being too generous. Oh and the draft, just make me go to some random team that actually has a pick around wherever my draft stock ends up. No way the Celtics are taking Cobb and I as the top 2 selected...they don't even have a pick until late in the round, yet they got the #1 & #2 picks without having to trade Tatum, Brown or anyone else at all from the team??? It's a straight up "c'mon man"
My man you nailed it. They completely removed aspects of the experience like the interviews and meetings with sponsors and added nothing of value to replace them. There's also no realism whatsoever to a team not only having the top two picks in the draft, but drafting two players that are the same position. Really? 2K has no idea how to make a realistic simulation, which is a shame since it's the only basketball simulation game available.

Most 2K players don't play shit else, 2K is literally all they do, can you blaim them? What they gonna do, read a book? You'd need to learn how to read first and i mean cmon, its people who buy 2k every year we're talking about, we need to set the expectations realistically
I keep thinking " Maybe it's me. Maybe I am doing something wrong . " Nope, too many video's and comments about how much this game sucks . So many things about this game sucks. The shooting, the gameplay by teammates , how no matter what team you are playing, if you miss a shot or have the ball stolen, every team immediately turns into the 80's Lakers and has a perfect fast break for an easy 3 or dunk . The halftime commentary was removed, interviews with myplayer gone. The high school camera view sucks. The shooting in this game is awful. Even when I hit the mark with Flexible release on HOF, missing shots. Oh, that's right, Flexible release only helps if you completely miss the mark . Agree, you start off so unbelievably bad and Cobb is God like with a high level badge ( Gold and HOF) you can only dream of reaching.
Good point about the unrealistic gameplay when you are removed from the game and the amount of points the opposing team is suddenly able to score when you sit. In Myplayer, my team won't go without a calling a timeout if the other team scores 2 or 3 baskets in a row , however I am supposed to believe that while I was sitting and the other team went on a 17-2 run , my team never called a timeout ?
Also, apparently my opponent can reach through my teammates to get a steal. I passed the ball to my teammate, the opponent who was standing behind , reached through his body and got the steal .
Now if you try and steal the ball, apparently Junior's Football background comes into play, when I press the steal button once, he immediately attacks/assaults/tackles the opponent , all I wanted him to do was to try and steal the ball .
Also, for reason my teammates and even myplayer wait around for the defense to come guard them when they are wide open . I pass the ball to them for an easy layup, they standstill until the defender moves to them, then blow the layup.
I have seen my teammates do the same as your Mitchell Robinson example, I see my teammate come around the defender and think he is going to come to the open spot on the court, I pass thinking he is going to continue and he stops, ball is intercepted .
Have also passed the ball and hit the defender in the back, and he absorbs the ball through his body and catches it in front of him.
Oh, and my favorite thing was when the January update came out, it wiped out my 2k20 and 2k21 builds.
Finally, the injury you get in myplayer happens no matter what you do. Made it to the 4th quarter without being injured and we were way ahead . I then tried to do nothing to cause an injury. While standing still, I passed the ball to my teammate whom was standing next to me . I injured my knee standing still.
And don't get me started on MYGM where I get criticized for complementing my coworkers .

The “archie vs harper” melodrama was awful. Archie literally just came up to you, said he knew your dad, and tried to leech off of you, and then you’re told several times thereafter that “he’s been with you from the beginning, he’s gotten you to where you are”, as if he got me 30 points a game in college or got me those scholarship offers? And then Harper offers you literally everything, with the one very reasonable request being that you just…don’t hire Archie instead. What did Archie offer? “You can be ya own man, say whatchu think”, even though you heard literally nothing that your myplayer thought, at all.
I fucking hate this game. I do.
NBA 2K14 had 2 features that i loved. The first was the option of deactivating fouls, which is so fun if you play with friends. And the other feature was the option of customizing all the rosters as i wanted (before i begin a season for example)
2k7-2k11 was the best era of 2k imo. I wish 2k would go back to making games with that type of love and care. Everything went to shit when 2k started valuing the online fans over the fanbase as a whole.
2K12 was good. Also 16 was top 3 2ks

The old 2ks had dope intros, menus, offline game modes, retro team presentations, and fun/fair gameplay that didn't rely on badges and what jump shot you choose. They felt like new games instead of a update.

I cannot tell you how many times my character breaks free inside the paint - gets passed the ball and then does a 1-2 second hesitation without my control only to do some crappy fade away that i wasn’t trying to do at ALL!! 🤬🤬🤬
I kinda liked the idea of people not making mis timed layups. It adds more skill to slashing. I use shot aiming when slashing because it allows you to choose what hand you want to use or what kind of lay up you want. There is also a nice boost if you time it right.
