Thanks for posting this. They were a great group of singers. I wish I were around in the 40s and 50s. Todays music is crap and the singers can't sing. Ed is the only one left and looked great on the PBS special.
these guys made some pretty songs; i heard them all ,when i was a kid in the fifties. i'm not afraid to say, most of their songs bring tears to my eyes, evoking memories. i can't praise them enough.
Music at its finest. We went to the movies on Sunday night, and their sounds filled the theater with a beauty I had never experienced. It was beautiful, and I will always cherish the sound of their voices filling the theater; their harmony, and they took my life and made it rare and wonderful.
A real discovery for me as I am a life long Bert Kaempfert fan and this is one of his original compositions. Had no idea there was a vocal version .... Great !!! Thanks for posting !
Beautiful song by one of the great all time groups. This was a #1 hit record in October, 1953. An actual song done by real singers, a lost art in these days/
Teens today can have their hip-hop, rap and all of the other cr... they listen to these days. I'm an old-fashioned guy who was a teen in the 50s when there was Elvis, The Platters, The Ames Brothers, The McGuire Sisters, The Drifters and dozens of other great Doo-Wop groups and pop artists. Let's hear it for "The Golden Oldies." It may "Only Hurt for a Little While," but that hurt is really intense when you get dumped by the love of your life.
You, You, You - The Ames Brothers [Malden, Massachusetts] - 1953 - "AMG Pick. A fine orchestrated song will soaring female vocals and great vocal harmony by the Ames Brothers. I can see Perry Como (on the same Record Label, RCA Victor) singing this song." - The Very Best Of The Ames Brothers (Taragon)-1998.
I am so relieved to find this song.....I have asked so many people over the years if they knew a song that went You, You, You and I just got a puzzled look!!! The AMES Brothers.....Wow....I will never forget this again!!! i was in my first year of High School and remember singing it all the time.
Always reminds me of the "50's Greatest Hits" LP my folks bought in the 70's, thought this track was so cool...It's so beautiful and well done, yes...but kinda *spooky* too, with the female vocals in the background. Yay. Thanks for posting.
True voices. How wonderful! I overheard a song my my step-daughter was playing. It was "The roof is on fire" over and over and over again. Do ANY new songs actually have lyrics any more? Tell a story?
@stephen1622 Ed is still performing and soon to be 83. I saw him on a PBS special about two years ago and he truly does still sound great. The Brothers were from the Boston area and of Russian Jewish descent.
I love this record, however it wasn't written by Kaempfert, but by another German songwriter named Lotar Olias. The English lyrics were written by Robert Mellin.

I've loved this song since I was 8 or 9 - used to sing it constantly - probably drove my parents nuts, but I loved it.
Takes me back to my childhood, the 50s good stuff
This is when you could understand the words! I remember hearing this on my first radio in Los Angeles! Great harmony.
when our kids were young and whenever said "seeyah" we would play this tune to them to improve their language. Thanks to the Ames Brothers.
so very beautiful. I agree, music is not music anymore. How I long for the old days.

I know that they recorded songs for movies, or did you see them on the movie screen?
Come home from school; drop your books and turn on the radio to listern to music like this. Those were great days

The Greatest quartet of all time, could listen all day.
Ed has the most mellow voice.
Glad he is still with us. God Bless
He was still performing at 84
I loooove this song! I'm an addict for 50s, 60s and 70s music even though I was born in the 90s I just love the oldies.

First heard this marvelous group in Memphis, TN, on stage. Fantastic. Years ago, several. :))
A real discovery for me as I am a life long Bert Kaempfert fan and this is one of his original compositions. Had no idea there was a vocal version .... Great !!! Thanks for posting !
At 70 this music is much more appealing.
La plus belle chanson des Ames Brothers pour moi, merci de partager ces beaux moments.

THIS WAS FOR ME AND MY FIRST LOVE--WE WERE SWEET 16!!! 1953--60 YEARS AGO!!!

So happy I grew up in an era when music was real, a treat, great poetry.
Ditto

Such a beautiful love song!
THE AMES BROS, STRICKLY CLASS
Happy memories!!!! Beautiful.
Definitely from my youth and still lovely !
This was our song 65 years ago.
@9295dv so sorry to hear of your loss. Just remember all the years together and the great memories you shared.
The music is so mellow and not out to make a political statement. Great dancing music and easy listening to.
I was born in the wrong time. I love this music. I would have been a groupie!! Ed Ames voice makes me swoon!!
Then you would not have liked Elvis. Same era.
+originalsbyterry I don't know, I love Elvis also!
Same here! I love the older music
just the prettiest song!
Great harmony!
This song kept me going during the week at Ga Sou, until I could hitch-hike on the week-end to GSCW.
sure do not make music like this anymore. great stuff!
What has happened to all the beautiful harmony and the quartets? I miss that so much. They just don't make music any more. So sad.
SWEET PRECIOUS MEMORIES

What a great group of siblings with great voices!!!! Love these guys,,,Are they still alive? Anyone know?
@CarlDuke Thank you very much for the info!
Have you noticed that there are no Quartets anymore? Too bad. I love "Harmony" These guys were the best.
For US Miss Bee !!! I'm in love with you !!!
You are right. Sorry for the erroneous info.
@stephen1622 I found that Ed Ames was the soul surviving brother!!!
I love this record, however it wasn't written by Kaempfert, but by another German songwriter named Lotar Olias. The English lyrics were written by Robert Mellin.
@CarlDuke Not Russian -- Ukrainian Jewish. Their real name was Urick, by the way.
We used to call this the sheep song: Ewe Ewe Ewe. [pronounced You, You, You]
the music was written by Lotar Olias, not Kaempfert..........
Sounds of my childhood, refreshing memories.
