  • Jon interviews Dr. Colin Reeves on two talks given at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary by Jonathan Moo and Katherine Hayhoe on the subject of Climate Change. Dr. Reeves dismantles many of the popular arguments used to convince people that Climate Change is caused by a petroleum-based economy and must be rectified through Left-wing policies, otherwise man faces apocalyptic consequences.

    Ken Keathley says at 18:50 that he began to see armadillos in southern Missouri where he grew up, but they were never there before. He assumes that the migration of armadillos northward was a direct result of man-caused climate change. This is the same type of emotion-driven reasoning, void of necessary data and logic, that many in the charismatic world often use when discussing "miracles". It is the same problem: A serious lack of discernment (and a misunderstanding of God's sovereignty over his creation). Are there any other reasons why different animal species might migrate? Have you eliminated all other reasons for the migration before deciding that man-caused climate change is the reason? Maybe they moved to a new location for better food. Maybe they moved to escape an influx of predators. Or, maybe they moved because too many Demoncrats from California moved in. Sorry, had to put that last one in there.

    I've noticed that our modern flavor of cult organizing now includes a layer of what I call "Kens and Karens". These are bubbly people who have poorly honed reasoning skills but they are excellent mouth pieces for the innermost circle of the cult. They drum up drama and anxiety to motivate the masses. That's what I see especially with Hayhoe and Keathley. That's not meant to be an insult against them, but rather a callout of exactly what they are doing whether they realize it or not.

    Another reminder that the Southern Baptist seminaries that train 1/3 of the nation's pastors should be regarded as institutions in captivity as they were in the days of the legendary conservative vs. "moderate" struggle in the denomination. Jonathan Moo from BioLogos trained the future SBC ministers. BioLogos teaches theistic evolution, which is absolutely incompatible with the doctrine of the inerrancy of the Bible. Theistic evolution as far as I'm concerned marks someone as a pseudo-evangelical rather than an actual evangelical. (Yes I know that implicates Tim Keller.) No theistic evolutionist should be giving instruction at a Bible-believing seminary. Pray and fight. And we must do a better job founding institutions that will remain sound in the future instead of having an endless cycle of decay and denial before ultimate withdrawal.

    We have been hearing since at least the early 1990s on a pretty much annual basis from the press that the preceding year was the hottest year on record or one of the few hottest years on record. Now logically speaking if this was really true and has been going on for over three decades then the baseline would have to be tremendously raised. In other words it would have to be much hotter to be the hottest year on record in the 2020s than it was in the early 1990s, and that kind of warming would have to be really perceptible. Now I don't perceive the summers to have gotten hotter at all where I live in the South. I do perceive that the winters have become milder, noticeably fewer single-digit days, and for heaven's sakes let's do nothing to reverse THAT!
    If somebody is knowledgeable enough to address this point that I have about the baseline and about how the media coverage just doesn't jibe, I would appreciate it.

      True, but in the next verse He also said "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter shall not cease." (Genesis 8:22) Those are planet-wide promises. God can still send non-global drought or flood, extreme cold in Antarctica and at the same time extreme heat in the Sahara. There was a 7-year famine across the middle east in Joseph's day, a local famine in Ruth's time, a drought in Elijah's time, and a general dearth across the known world in the days of Claudius Caesar. Revelation 16:8 says "men were scorched with great heat", which is one of many plagues. But these cannot over-ride his promise to maintain the planet's general climate while the earth remaineth.

    1- when deriving a trend from a cyclical event, choosing the starting point gives you modt any future predictions you want. Actual thermometer temperatures, "unanusted", show a COOLING trend since 1920 reaching the coldest in the 1070s; when it snowed in Miami and magazines like Time were announcing the coming ice age. See Tony Heller gor massive amounts of temperature records and demonstrated recent data tampering.
    2- CO2 is plant food and a rare gas (0.04% of dry air). Increased CO2 increases life throughout the planet. We're carbon based life, dilitedvin water. Hydrocarbons, fossil fuels is life trapped underground. Theore fossil guels we burn the more life on earth. Climate models fail to incorporate the negative feedback loops of photosynthesis, CaCO3 exoskeletons (corals, shellfish) and clouds. Free the dinosaurs and bring back the pre flood forests by burning MORE fosdil fuels for the health of the planet.
    3- CO2 is actually a weak greenhoygas, as well as so rare as to make mo significant contribution. CO2 jas a narrow absorptive range, methane by comparison is 80x more effective at heat trapping than CO2 and water is also FAR more effective than CO2. There's no logical reason to pin any temperature change on CO2...other than money as it makes it possible to divert from CLEAN energy (fossil fuels) to extremely toxic solar panels snd bird killing windmills.
    4- the climate hysteria industry is a multi trillion dollar global power grab, pun intended. Besides money, more important is power. Right now in parts of Europe farmers are revolting against the globalists. Just like the lies surrounding COVID and "trans"; the demonization of Carbon which is THE limiting element to life on Earth and something we need MORE of this is about global control.
    If they can make you believe absurdities, they can make you commit atrocities.

    So, she accuses people of being Pharisees and blinded to her junk science and calls them unchristian. But, she's not willing to consider that she could be wrong about her beliefs and opinions..... so who's being the Pharisee about their beliefs?? Climate is cyclical and affected by the sun more than anything else. With the expansion of cities , concrete highways, and large glass skyscrapers localized climate changes can happen because all those things cause heat absorption. So cities tend to be warmer . She has the same attitude about climate change being settled science that fauci used for all the mitigation measures the government forced on the public. It's "settled science " and you peasants don't have the right to complain or have an opinion.

    • @beverlylewis3467
      @beverlylewis3467 3 месяца назад

      It actually is settled science. And the science behind it is simple enough for anyone to understand. In the 80's it was called the greenhouse effect and that was a good description of what it actually is. Everyone, I think everyone, knows how a greenhouse works. It absorbs the sun's heat, then traps the heat and holds it in. Too much CO2 in the atmosphere works the same way, trapping heat and moisture. And that is not junk science. There is also nothing unbiblical about global warming. Just read the book of Revelation. It is, if course contradicted by Republican politics, which gets millions in campaign donations, (bribes) from the oil and gas companies.
