So beautiful, your tutorials are amazing. I have a lot of catching up to do. I don’t know what it’s like where you live but over here it takes 6 week after you sell your home and then another 6 weeks after you purchase a new home. I can’t wait to be settled again and start painting. ❤

I love these iris's and really enjoyed painting them. Thank you very much for your fresh approach. It has reinvigorated me when I was feeling a bit stuck with my watercolour journey. Your narration is calming too. Looking forward to trying more of your lessons. I never realised how long it would take. I have been going along painting for a few hours daily for the last 18 months and I am still very much a novice. How long did it take you to feel good and confident about your work?

I TOTALLY understand the struggle, and the time it takes to get good at this because believe it or not, when I first started I was TERRIBLE at it! It's taken me many many years of practice and patience with myself to get where I am today! So I truly feel that you can do it too! I always enjoy hearing from you. 🥰 Yes, the Hookers Green is M Graham Brand, however it probably won’t hurt the look of the painting if yours is brighter. Liesl, I painted this this evening. I can see why this is a favorite of yours...it is gorgeous! Your explanations on each step were easy to follow and the result is spectacular! I painted this one for my sister and I know she will love it as the Iris is a particular favorite of hers. Thank you for making the outline available. It really helps and makes this project so much fun to paint. I have another painting I want to try from a photo of the Japanese Garden at our local Botanical Gardens. Wild Iris is in the forground on that photo and these techniques will help me have more confidence in trying that painting. Thanks for all you do!

Are you allowing the petals with the blue on top and green on the bottom dry before applying the green on the bottom?
No, it’s not completely dry, it’s also not sopping wet either. If it is just slightly wet still, or damp even, the colors will just barely mix into each other right where they meet without overtaking the other color. Great question!
