This describes our family! While we're based in DC, we plan to travel quite a bit over the year visiting family in Asia and S. America. The traditional school year calendar wouldn't have allowed us to travel as much. We're excited and nervous about the homeschooling/world schooling journey!
Hi! Thank you for making this content, all of this resonated with our family in some way. We are a multiracial family who plan to unschool/relaxed homeschool in order to get our kids into their community, country, and greater world more than kids typically get to be in traditional brick and mortar schools. We aren’t super well traveled either, so we will be experiencing a lot of this for the first time together with our kids. I have 2 boys age 3 and 1 and we just started seeking out a community of homeschoolers/unschoolers to learn from and socialize with. I’m loving the content on this channel so far! Can’t wait to see where your family goes with it.
🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️Thank you for making your videos with revealing such vulnerability 🙏🏻 We do homeschool, too as Asian growing/learning in the U.S. not typically religious based. I truly appreciate that you are “supporting” us emotionally by creating your videos 🙏🏻💕 your work is so needed 🙏🏻 Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi!!! So excited for Homeschool Wherever 😃. Love your other platforms. Mom of 2 boys also live in NYC and enjoy traveling as well. Starting homeschooling in September. A little nervous but looking forward to the new challenge. Wishing you an amazing school year!
Hey Lisa it's so great to hear from you! Thanks for checking us out here too. It'll definitely be a fun adventure for our family and yours! Hope you enjoy what we've got coming out on this channel.
Wow I really enjoyed this video! We are an lgbtq multiracial family as well so secular is important to us. We are doing Prenda microschool now in AZ but moving home to Cali soon so trying to find some good options for schooling. We travel a lot too. Any advice for other secular curriculum options that we could use in CA? I haven’t caught what you use yet but I’ll be watching!
Omg!!!!! I love this channel. I saw your tic tok originally and came on here to learn my more. My name is Tia and I am a single mother of 2 (6th grade & Kindergarten). I actually have been researching lately on homeschooling just because of the politics of it, the learning style and content that I don't think my boys identify with. I am actually in my last year and will be earning my Education degree. I think this channel will help me out a lot with navigating this transition I most likely will start next fall since I will be going on for my Masters 😃. I hope to gain more insight on how your family will incorporate curriculum & culture into your family. Oh, and I have been thinking heavily on moving to Africa as well given the way the US in going now. Just seems like a great time for a change. Again, loved this video and I hope to grow with you and other moms who are going on this journey as well.
Ah thank you so much! I’m so glad you found us on TikTok! 😀 Amazing that you’re getting a degree in education. I’m sure that’ll be invaluable if you do decide to homeschool your boys!
We all start out with that structure piece and pick curriculum that helps us get a foothold in our routine. I feel it’s a necessary path. It’s educating yourself on how to teach with examples given to you and you try several until you find what fits for your family!❤️
Yes! That's why I love watching RUclips videos from all types of homeschooling families: religious, secular, structured, unschoolers. You gain bits and pieces from everyone!
YAY i just enrolled my 1st grader into home school and im slightly freaking out! but your video made me feel welcomed and sooo ready. Thank you! My family and i are also located in Brooklyn. we are non religious Puerto Rican with a 6 year old attending 1st grade remotely and its not working for me or her. there so much pressure and work load given to these children and im soooo over it.
Hey Vickiana I’m so glad to hear that! I hope you’ll enjoy homeschooling as much as us. 😀 By the way, I’m planning to do a video for families who are thinking of pulling their kids out of virtual school to homeschool instead. I’d love to chat with you about your experiences as some background research. If you’re open to it, could you either DM me at @homeschoolwherever or email me at info@topflightfamilymedia.com? Thanks! 😀
Thank you for sharing your story! ❤️❤️ we are also a secular homeschooling family ❤️ we lived in Denver for 4 years and homeschooled 2 kids in a small apartment 😅 we now have 5 kids and just bought our first home! So glad to have found your channel ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOVE 💕 this idea 💡 I will be living through you guys with this homeschooling and taking a bit here and there- my daughter age 11 is dyslexic 💕 so I will used ur ideas in the summer months (Williamsburg trip) brooklyn located 💗also mixed family
Hi! My name is Casandra, I just subscribed to this channel and followed on instagram (our family account is @Edmonson_Squad). I have 2 daughters as well, Solana is 3 and Shaelynn is 10 and we're also homeschooling this year. It's quite an adjustment from last school year but so far my oldest is taking it well. We like to travel as well even though its rare but we try to go to Disney every year for the Christmas party. Watching your channel (TopFlightFamily) has really inspired me to travel more with my family. I found it funny when you mentioned your husband not really liking school and you being the exact opposite because my husband and I are the same way. I'm excited to see more content on your channels and sorry for the dissertation lol 😂
Casandra Edmonson Wow I loved hearing your story! Funny that our families have so many similarities! Thanks so much for subscribing and hope you enjoy what we’ll be sharing here! Can’t wait to go back to Disney 😭 but we’re gonna wait a little longer.
Love lovr your content. You have no idea how much I have learned from you, we cannot wait for post pendamic time so that we can take our girls and explore the world like we have always wanted to but never did because we would get intimidated by traveling with kids so we would always procrastinate and end up putting our plans off.... Since watching your channel we are so confident that we can now make our dreams and wishes a reality 😉😊
Bonolo Patience Sebego Oh my gosh that’s wonderful to hear! 😀 The whole reason we do this is to hopefully inspire families to get out there and show them it doesn’t have to be hard or a hassle so it makes me so happy to hear this! 😀🙌🏼 Can’t waif to hear all about your travels once Covid is over!
Love it ❤️ So funny how much similarities we have. My girls are also going to a christian school, they are learning through ACE curriculum (accelerated Christian education) and are studying mostly catholicism with their social studies. We are also an interracial family 👪. Im black, south african and my husband is mixed his father is white and his mother is also black south african. although we want to travel, we also want to have some sort of structure where we dont have to be normads but still have the flexibility of time. Homeschooling is such a great idea and I cant wait to follow your and pick up some useful tips, tricks and advice. This new channel will help us put a whole lot of things into perspective.
I have definitely noticed a lack of secular homeschooling channels. SO GLAD YOU ARE DOING THIS! We are not anti religion either, but I can't tell you the relief in watching another family that doesn't attribute all their experiences/success/education to religion. Subscribed and looking forward to all your future content.
