The whole point why skylanders was so amazing was the toys to life concept having an in game shop would ruin its uniqness. Also, expensive? An average figure is like 2$. And being able to than trade your skylanders and than actually use the character to kill enemies, or fight your friend with there skylanders was amazing. Making it all online transactions will make it fall down the void of cashgrabs. Why would you want the company to make something that would intern ruin the fun for thousands and just give them money. And i know the toys were cashgrabs, but, you can tell they were putting heart into those games and characters.
@@drathyice7413you do make a really strong argument I like your reasoning and I totally 100% agree with you on that, skylanders was my childhood now it would suck if they were online characters however if you were able to get coins or whatever the currency is for fighting enemy’s or something then it would be a reasonable game that should be like 40$ to own and then you can buy coins or whatever if you’d like but you can also earn the currency by fighting or whatever they are gonna do but me personally I would like a new game in general just nothing like cod or fortnut if I get one of those bull crap stuff I’m done
I'm so glad this happened, though I still prefer going to a store to get it just because it just feels so good or magical if you know what I mean. Nothing beats the feeling of getting a new skylander figure. Not only that, the whole purpose of skylanders was to buy the figures.
That and you get a physical object to play the game for your money that can double as decour when not in use

The thing with this, one of the reasons I believe Skylanders did so well is because if I wanted to I could take my tree Rex over to my mates house and we could play together with our own characters. Eliminating the figures would eliminate one of the best bits.
the toy to life aspect WAS skylanders tbh. it was such a massive and essential aspect to skylanders gameplay that removing it would literally make it not skylanders anymore. people cant be called portal masters when they dont even have access to a portal.
They have to bring the toys back for this potential comeback, skylanders’ whole selling point was the toys. Everybody wants digital so they don’t have to go through the trouble of developing through Nintendo switch, imaginators on switch didn’t let you use portals and that was a hassle.
I’m all in for the idea, could be very cool for them on top of selling new skylanders they can reprint several skylanders from back then like even some notable toys like blackout and wild storm
I think the best idea would be a mixture of being able to buy the figurines with in-game cash and buying them with real life money either in stores as figurines or from an online shop preferably as the figurines mainly because I like having stupid pieces of plastic fill my room on cool shelves but maybe that's just because I have a lot of nostalgia for this franchise
hopefully having physical will give a boost or something
I actually prefer digging through thr bins full of skylanders it’s just cool picking out which one you want, I used to close my eyes and stick my hand into a big bin full of them at GameStop and just choose randomly
yeah there's no doubt that having the figures is much funner, but i think if there were to be another game they would have to at least have an optional digital store because not everyone can go out and spend $10 on a single character. maybe if they could sell packs though?

@@BennySGB Skylanders also completed my childhood too! Well, even though we won't know if that franchise will ever comeback, I actually thought of a way to bring it back. I like to share to you my idea of a *Skylanders spin-off game*
I call it *Skylanders Yin-Yang*
It is a spin-off game that *solely* focuses on the dark and light elements! Why, well it's clearly obvious, ever since the two elements were introduced in Trap Team, then to Superchargers and Imaginators, they overall had the *least* amount of Skylanders. In other words, the Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Undead, Life, Magic and Tech elements had like 20+ Skylanders (or 30+ if you count the variants, repose, DK, Bowser, Crash, and Cortex), while dark and light only had 5. So, not only will my spin-off bring back the Skylanders franchise, but also give the dark and light elements more love and attention.
The roster will be 32 (16 each) (Similar to the SSA roster, but also includes the *gimmick*landers) which consists of
Eight CORE Skylanders
One Giant
Two Swap Force (the new Swapabilities will be "Stomp" and "Gravitate")
One Trap Master
One Supercharger (Sky Vehicle: Light and Sea Vehicle: Dark)
Two Minis
One Sensei (Light Bazooker and Dark Quickshot)
Here's the storyline: There once was a evil troll scientist named: *Professor Dizastor* who out of many villainous schemes, wanted one thing most, remove all flowers in Skylands! He himself has a *strong hatred* for flowers! However, when he was caught, he was then put on house arrest (since CloudCracker Prison was destroyed around the time). But now, Professor Dizastor has created a monstrosity: *The Root Reaper* it's sole purpose is to swallow and absorb all the life essences of *all* flowers in Skylands! You, Portal Master must stop the Root Reaper and prevent it from destroying every flower, or else Skylands will lose its beauty and there'll be *nothing* left of green!
I'm also bringing back PVP Battle Mode, Sky Goals, Sky Gems, Heroic Challenges, Raceway, Survival Arena, basically everything from the past six installments, but put in a dark and light standpoint!
So, what do you think? Please be honest.
I think they should have 2 options for players. The physical figures that will unlock the character and give some other bonuses to reward collectors and then the digital version to just unlock the character with a menu to switch to the ones you own
Let’s make this year or the next a new year for Skylanders 💪❤️
To be honest, Having the option to play with the physical toys or buying the characters/Adventure packs digitaly would be so awesome.
God I hope Skylanders comes back and with a shop. All my Skylanders disappeared around 8 years ago. I only played up to trap team and got little over 100 figures, stopped because my family went broke and I became aware that each game threw away the last one's gimmick unfortunately😢 still have dreams where I dig through my storage and find them. Sadly I can only pray for the games return. Sorry for the rant.
Hey, it's funny because I have the exact same story, just that my collection is way smaller (would say a 1/10 of the whole cast) and I got my figurines back.
Same man. I had like 20+ different figures that I kept in a box, and I had every game except for Spyro’s Adventure and Imaginators (all of which were Christmas gifts). It was like my number 1 game for a while. But for some reason my stupid kid self got “bored” of Skylanders and decided to give them all away. Every game, every figure. And now at 19, I severely regret that decision because Skylanders was a significant part of my childhood and now I’m probably never gonna get it back.
It’s not even so much the games I’m concerned about (I’m sure they can be purchased on Amazon or something), but all the figures I gave away. It was already such a process getting every single one, and considering they don’t sell them anymore, it would be much harder now to get it all back. Honestly I don’t even need the other games or a new game, I just want Giants back because that was the one that I have the most memories with. But without all the figures, it’s useless.
For me I feel like if Skylanders were to come back buying e figures could be optional just like amibo

Someone needs to talk about how much the Skylanders OST *slaps.* The final boss theme of Giants makes my Timbers shiver.

My biggest problems with digital transactions for non-physical skylanders are the lack of longevity and resale value. With the physical figurines, you coukd not only use them with every subsequent release, but you could also trade in your old ones and buy other people's pre-owned skylanders. I've still got my big box full of skylanders and five of the six games in storage for my theoretical kids to one day play with...

I was a huge fan of this game when I was younger. I fell out of love woth it thanks to the content farm channels thst popled up, designed to make kids addicted to the videos and keep them watching... something my little sister got sucked into.
Seeing the recent resurgence of it online has been very nostalgic. Unfortunately it's very difficult to get into due to the price. If Skylanders is to be brought back then a re-release or remaster of the older games is needed, especially on PC thanks to the games not existing there (outside of emulation).
I think this franchise would mix well with the stage fighter genre
Nitro Magna Charge top and spy rises bottom half were by far my favorite combos back when I first played Swap Force. But as an OG for when skylanders first came out, boom-boom, drill Sergent, chop-chop, and drobot will always be my personal favorites,
A digital shop would be very cool and convenient, though it might alienate fans.
Honestly, in my humble opinion like 50% of the fun the Skylanders games brought, was based on buying and owning physical figures. Like the figures + portal are just a huge part of the magic and I don't think it could really work without it tbh.
The toys to life gimmick brought so much life to the franchise. Skylanders would just be another basic action-adventure game without it.

Honestly to me a future game would have all new and old characters unlocked automatically and you get to use a menu to select but purchase them with gold that would now be universal also the old figures can be used with old accessories and they give some bonus most likely a special mission and new characters can get that also and they sell traptanium portals as the portal as it’s the best one as it has everything and also you could buy the characters levels and all digitally

I feel like a good idea would be allowing you to attain and play as skylanders through in-game shops using Gold. And actual figures being used to summon the skylander as allies.
I don't see Skylanders ever getting a new game, but I think they could implement the Skylander in the next Spyro game, whether as NPCs or playable characters. I mean they did sort of bring Back Spyro in a sense, so I think I think it's fair for the purple dragon to return the favor.
What do you mean they're not rebooting the series ? The Skylanders series selled way more than the Spyro series and Spyro got a remake.
The only reason against the reboot or remake is that it would be hard to reboot it, since they need to make a choice between giving up the Toys to life concept and break the spirit of the series or keeping it and taking a big risk, but that's it.
This is why I say to invest in some of this stuff when it’s on its way out, it becomes super rare and expensive sometimes, like the switch imaginators starter game

If Skylanders does make a comeback in a remastered legacy collection (like Mega Man,Mega Man X,Mega Man Zero,and Mega Man XZ Legacy Collection),I want the following to happen;
-All Skylanders playable in all 6 games.
-PVP battles in both Offline and Online.
-DLC content.
-If possible,scan the physical toys and make them Instant Skylanders (like Imaginators).
-Variations of Skylanders available or unlockable.
-Boss Rush available.
-Co-op play.
-All Adventure packs and Skylanders available from start.

I genuinely hope they do bring skylanders back now i dont know if they would but i feel like unlocking the characters in game instead of doing a shop feature would be cool so like if you found a certain secret area or if you got to a certain part of the story i feel that would make the immersion and gameplay give you more freedom and would make the player base many times more vast as they wouldnt feel as paywalled if they are new to the game and dont want to pay 10-30 dollars (assuming we arent talking about the inflated pricing after the game stopped) to have fun with new characters they've yet to try

Hey I'm a die hard skylanderer!!! I miss it, I have a ton of skylanders right now gathering dust. My sons have out grown them persay but I still like it when I play and get lost in it. I hope it reserges comes back I wouldn't even mind if it went on line.
I think they should bring the figures back but also have an online shop for it. I loved those figures.

i had the idea for a new Skylanders game
that features both portal of power compatibility, for those who do still own the figures
and a digital store for those who are new to the franchise
but they have to fix the character select menu, because the one from Imaginators Switch is the #1 worst character select menu i have ever experienced
I don't even need a whole new game, but I pray for a remastered pack of all of them to play every character digitally
I think the recent hype is due to people just being nostalgic and possibly even the chill bill meme reminding people about sky landers

I remember watching somebody elses Skylander video a few months ago and they said something around the lines of "Every few months, our parents hated us beyond our understanding for taking us to a store and spending great amounts of money just for toys in a video game."
I think it would be pretty dumb to turn that into a shop collector Thing. We had real figures that we could put somewhere, and the whole thing was about "bringing toys to life". That would just be called pay to win with overpriced Skylanders that we can't even hold in our hands.
i definitely think a digital shop idea is the most possible and best idea. it'd be all around better---less expensive, more environmentally friendly, easier to manage, can't die off---however there's no denying the novelty of the figures. i think if people could scan their skylanders into the game it would make everyone happy

I think this move is a fantastic way. It’s good for the new comers who don’t wanna buy the toys, but good for us fans who grew up with it and wants to keep collecting more of the toys

Skylander figures were such a W for when it came to opening birthday gifts. I used to get so excited. You almost create a bond with the figure just because it is there, and I know that seems weird now as an adult. But as a kid it meant everything. My grandparents waited in line for 2 hours at Target to buy me a Ninjini. R.I.P. in Heaven to them both. I know Disney and Lego wanted to make a profit but them stealing the idea of Skylanders really faded out the franchise. The digital idea isn't so bad but I don't know, it's just not Skylanders without the figures in hand. That's the whole purpose of being a portal master. And the portals I thought were the prettiest things ever as a kid. Skylanders has to bring something special to the table that is modernized but unique at the same time. As an OG skylander I'm thinking that Skylanders may be out of their time. And will live forever in our memories.
So cool, I also have a ton of memories attached to the figures. Birthdays, Christmases, etc. I'm not sure how they would bring it back this time around.
Obviously everyone wants to figures back, but I'm just not sure that Activision would take that kind of risk nowadays.

Its maybe not a better idea but about the digital shop idea i would imagine that the skylanders you put at the portal could have a skin at the digital shop (for example if you put spyro in the portal the game will make dark spyro skin purchasable
Dude I loved playing on the xbox 360 sky landers battling that one evil team with chaos was so fun and the crystals to keep them. Only ogs know what I’m talking about

Why would I want a digital shop? The best part is going out, finding that one you've always been looking for, buying it, opening it, putting it on the portal and playing. That's literally the whole novelty of skylanders. thats like making an iron man movie but instead of tony stark making the suit its happy hogan randomly finding the suit

The return of Skylanders is no mystery, all the kid who used to play and love it as kids have simply grown up and are capable of expressing that love on the internet via RUclips. I too would love a new Skylander game.

Skylanders some of the first video games I ever picked up. I loved going to Walmart to see what they had for me. Only marketing like that I'd stand for. I loved having the hard figurines and don't wanna see them go digital.

Definitely feels like they SHOULD make it so sky landers can be used without the toys. On the imaginators port for switch, they had it so you scanned the toy ONCE, and then can select it from a menu. Definitely feels like the better move.
Digital shop might work but would be kinda weird. The fact the sky landers were physical toys tied quite heavily into the story of the games.
I wouldn't say "heavily" at all. It's just the premise. The main stories don't have much to do with them being toys, nor does the gameplay. I'm actually quite disappointed that there is no toys-to-life game that necessitates figures as part of the experience; just feels like a gimmick. It feels like these games could exist without the figures and the game would be the same. For that reason, I've been looking for games similar to Skylanders without the need to buy extra characters. I haven't found any yet but I do like bird's eye view action games like Death's Door and Hades.
I was just too young to fully apriciate the first 3 games, and now I would give anything to play them again, and even more to somehow get a remake of them first games

hey so ive bascially tipped my house upside down looking for my skylkanders so it would be great if we could use the olds aswell as new online ones
I feel the move is not to charge us more than 40 for a game we’re going to also spend hundreds on, also I like the figures way over digital, either we get the character by mabye buying them for in game gold, mabye a gatcha system, mabye some other currency in game, or we stick to using figures. The thought of buying them digitally, and not even being the owner of a proud figure, makes me sick.
It needs to revive skylanders and guitar hero, too.
