- If you are experiencing heater issues with you X5 and not getting warm/hot air inside the cabin, please read below and watch the vide for useful information. I will explain some of the more common issue resulting in low or no heat during winter. Following are the key point-
a. If No Air from Vents and Battery Low voltage Alarm, check Battery voltage and Recharge or replace old battery
b. If you are getting some air from vents but either its cold, or one vent is blowing cold and other hot or overall vent speed is low, do the following in recommended sequence below (basic to more complex) until the problem is resolved-
1. Top off engine coolant
2. Check Freon level (yes for heater too)
3. Replace heater valve
4. Change Thermostat (more complex)
5. Others (Heater core etc)

I paid 200$ online for mine heater control valve. My problem was every thing. I replaced the blower motor and resistor when the problem was HCV. Fix the problem instantly. I wasn't going to chance on buy a cheaper part that I know for a one year warranty. It was truly worth and they gave me a lifetime warranty. Was oem bmw part that came in the mail. If you like your ride like I like mine then make a smart decision.
Thanks for sharing this video. It fixed the problem in my 2013 X5 35i and I done the replacement myself!
Glad it helped
I’ve the problem with the hot air in the same model. How you solved it?
thanks for sharing this video it fixed the problem today have 99* grades
Glad it helped
Thanks alot for the video, really helped
Glad it helped
I'm having the same issue with my 2018 f39 x2,, take over 45 mins sometimes
Hello so after you blead the hose are there suppose to move I feel like der a movement in a bigger one feels like a bubble is passing by
Thanks for the video! I have a similar issue with my 2008 X5 3.0. I will borrow a Freon gauge off my bro today to check that but have been suspicious of the heater control valve. I pulled the clip and tested continuity across the contact points. It seemed I got close to 15.4 across each so I assume it’s working? I found one on eBay for $35 but you mentioned eBay didn’t work out for you? Would you mind sharing what didn’t work out? Thanks!
thanks axesomebody- Its a bit of a hassle to install a used valve and find out its seals are broken, that's what happened to me. I would encourage to buy a new one or consider replacing the seals on your own valve. Good luck!
I think he meant coolant not freon ,,
Ya, sorry, meant refrigerant. Freon has been gone for awhile. All it needed was a top up of refrigerant and back to good. Thanks!
Get genuine bmw the others dont last long at all maybe a year seals fail they leak coolant
i have bmw x6 same problem ! change this part controle valve but still
no have heat thermostat
are already change ? please need help
Is it possible to add freon without the ambient temp being that high? Seems like a dumb design that you can't do it when its cold out.
Thank you for sharing, when you said you bought cheap one from ebay that didnt work out, could you tell what happened? Because i did buy one from ebay for around $30, and it didnt fix my x5/e70 problem. But have no idea if the valve is the issue
Hi Hai, I think most of the cheap ones selling on eBay don't have the seals intact so you really will have to open the valves and inspect. There is a seal replacement kit but I would recommend buy a new one from dealership as it involves some hard labor in putting it back in. Best of luck!
i bought new on from amazon and will replace it on my x5 next 2 weeks
And ???
Bro if i aint the genuine bmw part u going to end up replacing soon they stop working and leaking after a yr or so supposed to last a decade
@@user-ep6kc6jz8l take from me job is pain in ass get genuine bmw i had to do job twice cuz of non bmw cheaper brand . They leak
@@dflex4180 too late, i already bought it put it on now, the original one must be really expensive
Why did you buy a bmw in the first place then bro? For cases like this is the OEM answer for sure or you can do more harm than good trust me. Good luck.
i have issue with heater. one vent give little hot air and another one give warm to cold air. but after some time both of them give me warm ( not hot) air ,,, is the problem the valve
Hi Basam, sounds like a heater valve problem. If its not heater valve then it could be thermostat, but I would definitely start with valve. Try running diagnostics and see if you find any error codes. That may point to a component failure but it is obviously more complex. I am not sure if the loaner diagnostics from Autozone reads all BMW fault codes.
All did all that and for some reason, my fan stopped working. Any ideas?
hi Teche7c, not sure why but I would check electrical connection/fuse box
I think it would have m7ch better if you could come out if that noise abs make the video so we could actually hear you.
I definitely need to improve my editing, will keep in mind. thanks for the feedback.
Hi my car when I turn ac on it blows warm air from drivers side vents only does this man the flap is not closing and do you know the part name
Hi Saif, do you mean the heater? one side vent blowing cold is usually because of heater control valve failure. Check your part number online by entering your VIN. Thanks
@@fixit4all no it’s actually the aircon
Driver side middle vent and side vent is blowing warm air
Passenger side is fine
@@Semaj.18272 did you find out the issue? I have similar problem. Ac is set to max. Passenger side vent is blowing warm air and rear center is blowing hot air. Do you know if the heater valve will fix this issue?
@@fishingtoronto nope lol
@@Semaj.18272 thanks
why the ebay one didn’t work ?
They eventually start leaking get genuine
Turn the engine off.
Why is the engine ring while you’re talking???
rookie mistake I guess!!
