Playdough Surgery 🔪👂🏻- Ear Tubes (Myringotomy and Tympanostomy Tube Insertion)

This is a common procedure performed under general (children) or local anesthesia (adults) for recurrent or refractory middle ear infections with effusions (fluid behind the ear drum). An operative microscope is used to make a tiny incision in the ear drum followed by insertion of a tiny tube (tympanostomy tube or grommet) to allow drainage and ventilation to the middle ear.
