Excellent video! I have some answers to the thoughts you had: Your performance issues indicate too much barrel for the spring you are using, but you mentioned that you have 5" of K25. That *should* be enough, so I'm not really sure what is causing the issues. I have no issues using DZ Max darts in any of my SLABs. Perhaps your barrel's edges are sharp and grabbing the darts as they chamber, or maybe the barrel *is* too long (or you need a 5.5" long k25). Who knows! BTW, the SLAB does fit longshot/lynx upgrade springs, so feel free to try those out. Those springs are wider, and make the prime even smoother. Also, the SLAB is dryfire safe. Your catch issues seem to be that your catch elastic is not tight enough (it should be looped around the muzzle twice), or your trigger rod is too long. Tighten the rod into the rod cap a bit (making it shorter), and loop the elastic around a second time. See if that solves your issues. Those two troubleshooting/tuning steps were also mentioned in the build guide and on the GitHub page for the blaster. I and a few others have used SLABs in HvZ, and it works great! On the topic of screws into PLA, you do not need to unscrew any PLA screws to replace the spring. Just the 3 large screws that go into the aluminum bar. Any PLA screw holes do not need to ever be unscrewed. I also designed redundance into all the screws. So if you strip one out while assembling, it doesn't really matter. All the forces in the blaster are very well spread out. Using bungees/elastic cord on the blaster instead of springs brought the HW cost down ~10 dollars, and it allows a lot more freedom in design, and it allows some nice features to be added. You will notice that the trigger stays in the lever while priming. To have some sort of trigger reset while doing that, a spring really wouldn't fit unless it was custom wound or very weak. Using elastic allows a nice solid trigger feel. Springs also REALLY like to fly across the room. In the current version of the SLAB, the same catch and muzzle piece fits elastic AND a longshot/lynx catch spring, with no swapped prints. So you can put whatever you feel like using in there when you assemble the blaster. People have been putting carbon fiber tube, aluminum straws, heat shrink, etc on the exposed trigger bar. It isn't covered in the base HW kit due to massive cost increase (~8 dollars just for a rod cover that long). If you want some upgrades for your SLAB, BansheeIndian has leather hand guards, stock cheek rests, and lever wraps for sale www.etsy.com/shop/BansheesBlasters SuperStressed has TPU butt plates WIP www.etsy.com/shop/SuperStressed3D and Roboman is working on some fancy metal upgrade parts, just for added bling. Glad you like the blaster, and thanks for the review! - Silly
Yeah, I figured the bungees and screws in PLA were cost saving measures as well as design choice. I might look into using springs were I can. I definitely need to tinker with spring loads and barrels and find the sweet spot. Tuning springs is not my forte. Need to get Luchathor down here to teach me the ways of springers. As for the 3 screw tear down, that would be possible...had I not put the extra screws in the priming bars when I assembled it. :P I shall remove them when I go to start tinkering to make it easier. Thanks for the feedback!
@@CaptainXavier (These numbers come from use in my Lynx V2, I've got a SLAB in the works too): For me, I've found that a 5kg Longshot spring and a 40cm Kuryaka barrel is perfect for our club's 200FPS limit. However, the same 40cm barrel AND an Adventure Force Liberator spring can hit nice 150s and under for superstock levels in your area. For HvZ, I'm going to try either the same AFLib spring and a 30cm barrel, or a spring from the X-Shot Orbit (aka a stock Longshot spring) to see how low AND consistent it can be~
I used aluminum straws as the cover for the exposed threaded rod for aesthetics. Carbon arrow shafts work nicely too. It's a great fun build and so easy to prime.
A wild Slab appears! You don't need to take any screws out of plastic to swap the spring, just unscrew the 3 big flathead screws and the whole thing slides apart. My slab is slappin with AF pro/Ruby darts so something must be going on with the OOD production to get that many squibs, I do have a ~10in barrel though so that could be it.
My friend Chance made a modified stock to hold brass rods so that the blaster is better balanced for flip priming it. He then proceeded to use his SLAB throughout RIT HvZ's fall weeklong, to great success!
This is cool as hell. I love the quirkiness of the action and the past/future styling of the blaster. Feels straight out of the best designed borderlands weapons
If the threads in the PLA ever become a problem you could try melting brass thread inserts into the PLA if there is room/integrity. Either way it's a mighty fine blaster and i like it and might print myself one.
I'm a big fan of lever action rifles so this thing would be a lot of fun. I see that you're just up in Washington. I have got to find some of these cool events you guys go to. Definitely want to get my kids into the HVZ thing as they get older. Even my wife wants to try it.
I put a lot of work and effort into a short dart Slingfire and while I love it with its metal internals, it only hits 135-140, isn’t perfect by any means, and I’m stuck with the design language of the shell. I’ve been itching to build the SLAB since Silly started teasing it. Love the review and content as always. You’re a wonderful man
This blaster is beautiful. Also those max darts are really inconsistent in most of the blasters I’ve be tested them with , the worker darts like custom blasters much better
Dunno. I get great performance out of DZ darts in my SBL with BCAR, and I'm betting I'll get similar performance here with DZ darts. If not, I've also got Worker HEs
Captain, I’d appreciate not being called out for liking to watch the fast forwarded building of the blaster. But in seriousness, I think it’s a great looking blaster and since it’s 3D printed I could print an orange version with blue detailing.
My blaster kit is on order from SFI. 3-5 more weeks to wait ..... Arghhhhh This is going to be absolutely perfect for our 200 fps wars, right along with TCs, Lynxes, Caliburns, and SBLs.
Oooooh, I like your new editing in the intro. I'm not a fav of lever action myself. Think I'll stick with a pump blaster like the talon claw or my Max Stryker. Really wanna get the all metal kit for a Nexus tbh. BUT to be fair, I'd like to have a flintlock blaster because it's cool, gimmicky and "fun" not practical at all tho.
Great blaster love the idea of a Captain Cowboy load out. But I have the same critique on the screws, bolts and nuts through would be better in 90% of the design. Also the picatinny rail is too low to slide on anything standard. Without a 2 piece attachment clamp you have to remove the front.
I love having all the mechanics exposed. Ultimate cyberpunky space cowboy blaster. I have 2 outlaws already, and im jonesing for a slab from silverfox industries, because he has an option for a foregrip rail
Speaking of yeehaw, could you possibly do a video on the YEHW pistol that I sent you? Maybe even comparing it to the HYPR? Just curious. Either way, keep up the good work, Sir.

Thanks for that. I was concerned about how easy it is to change the spring for lower fps events. Obviously, it's not a concern now.

Can't wait for the metric version that Silly is working on currently!
It's odd in the fact it moves the magazine to load a dart into the receiver. Looks awesome all the same.
I definitely plan on picking one up from OOD. Gonna go for Zombie Strike colors!
Fascinatingly enough one can now have a full western 3d printed loadout, i think a 3d printed cowboy hat is interesting for this

Nope
how do you like the scar as a means for launching mega xl?
also looking forwards to yehaws

What spring could you use to lower something like that to HvZ levels? K31? Anything else?
That or 788

This looks like a lever action Caliburn. Is this an accurate assessment?
More like a lever action Lynx or Talon Claw.
