My older brother missed my high school graduation because he was in Vietnam. Fortunately, he came home safely but he had a lot of friends that weren't as fortunate. For a lot of years, he didn't talk much about his time over there. He opened up a little more after the dedication of the Vietnam Memorial. But he still remembers. Love this version by Home Free. Vince Gill released this song shortly before my baby bother passed away and I still can't hear it without crying all these years later.
Love your heartfelt reactions. Several in my high school graduating class (1966) didn't come back from Vietnam. Young lives cut short. So tragic, but such a noble sacrifice they made. Thank you to all.

My 86 yr old mom lost her oldest brother in Korea, he was only 19. When my Grandma got his dog tags, she went up in the woods behind the house crying and threw the tags. It crushed her 💔 😢

Well it's 2:24 am and I'm in my living room now bawling my eyes out trying not to wake my husband. This song just hit me so hard, we just celebrated a year of my dads passing. My grandfather was one of the lucky ones to survive Pearl Harbor. But watching this makes me think of his mates and their families.
I had a cousin (was my dad's 1st cousin Jay) I was really close to and I looked up to. He was about 11 years older and left for Vietnam in 1969 when I was 9 and was killed just 9 months after he left, and we found out on my 10th birthday, June 23rd, 1970. I was devastated and didn't even want the cake & ice cream at the family gathering (to this day I will not call it a party). I would spend hours around him, when he was fixing cars, lifting weights, and just being a mentor to me. I wanted to be Jay, but ol' Nam got him :(. He was also was a father of a 2 month old little girl, Penny, that I talk to everday and she is like a niece more than a 3rd cousin. I am Godfather to all her 4 kids. Jay lives on in them and he would be very proud, one is a school teacher, one is a former Olympic weightlifter for the USA & now Dr of internal medicine and the other 2 are both policemen for the Miami-Dade County Police Dept.

I have a family full of service members starting with WWI. My husband fought in the Vietnam War, and we all know how badly they were treated when they came home. They were drafted back then and had no choice, but did the people back here care? Did they care what they went through over there, or the horrible things they saw, or the tragic things they had to do just to survive? No! This video always hits me really hard. Anyway, Thank you, for your service.

This song makes me think of my Dad, a WWII vet. He and 5 of his brothers were in Europe at the same time. They all came home ... tattered but alive. My father suffered but never talked about his military service. I will forever be grateful for all who have worn the uniform. Miss you Dad!

The hardest thing I've had to do is see my son off to Afghanistan. He made it home. This song makes me think of the moms who will never see their sons and daughters again. It makes me cry everytime I hear it.
Amazing reaction hon, and thank you so very much for your service to our country. My hubs is a veteran (Vietnam) and my grandson and his wife are both in the military, and I am so dang proud of them. I have to admit, that it scares me knowing they could get deployed at any moment. No matter how many times I hear this song, I break down, especially for all the precious lives we have lost.
This song always tears me into shreds in it's beauty. If you've never seen it, Vince Gill singing this for George Jones funeral will destroy you. I've watched it once and haven't been able to go back to it. It really conveys how much George meant to Vince. And I thank you for your service and sacrifices. 🇺🇸❤🙏
I know someone who was in Viet Nam. I think of him every time I watch this. He is a great guy! I have much respect for our service men/women. The guys are very big in supporting our service people. They have a few videos featuring them. Tim even did a few gigs with the USO before joining HF. There are some videos of his performances out there on YT. They do a killer job on The Star Spangled Banner too. They were invited twice to sing it before the Vikings game(s) which is also on YT. Love your genuine reactions! Thx! ❤️

It is very much worth watching too. As one vet to another, you may want to react to their arrangement of the great hymnal classic, How Great Thou Art. It is the finest version of that song I have ever heard. They filmed it in the Austrian Alps. It has over 22 million views.
Lost a buddy in Desert Storm to friendly fire. Can't discuss the details leading up to the incident because of the mission. Can't discuss what happened after the incident because it brings back the last imagines of him. Veterans can carry a lot of weight that few people realize.
My son is in Europe right now. I thought he would be safe until his tour is over, but now that stuff is going on in Ukraine, I'm a little worried. I'm now praying he makes it back before it goes pear-shaped. Thank you for your service.
