Good morning my beautiful friend. If you had not pointed out the weed in the stone wall I don't think I would have noticed. LOL!!!!!!!!!! What a gorgeous and stunning rose. Simple is more and less is more. Why plant roses that may be complex when it comes to growing them. All I have to say is the plans that you have for that garden bed sounds great. Hopefully you will be able to find some of those colors in the iceberg rose collection. Anyways enjoy the cooler weather and have a wonderful rest of your day.

Exactly! That’s literally what i do when driving around. Whatever i see around and i see its growing nicely and survives this heat lol i make sure to write down what they are or what they look like if i dont know their name.
Im one to plant only perennials cz i do not have the budget to buy a bunch of annuals several times a year so perennials and things that are tough is what i go for🙌🏻

So funny how “parking lot plants” change wherever we live! When I lived in the north, spirea, potentillas and lobelias were everywhere, and agapanthus and crepe myrtles were impossible. ANY roses other than sitka roses (not a true rose!) were a “dig ‘em up” project every winter, when it seemed like you just planted them! Now that I live in the south, you guessed it … non-stop roses, crepe myrtles and agapanthus are in every landscape and parking lot! I love it! 😃👍🏻

Beautifull, my neighbour across from me has one but its a climber? are there Iceberg roses that climb? she has had it for yrs and its beautifull, she is now in a care home and our new neighbours are not gardners, i think they want to have off road parking so it will be ripped out, i told them maybe put it in the back garden, it makes me so sad when folk just come and rip everything out,, i wish i had space i would have it, thankyou sweet friend and glad the weather has cooled for you xxx

Parking lot plants 😊 I keep snipes in car to get cuttings from those. They're sometimes different in neighboring states, a cup of water with a few extra holes in the lid, I'm good to go. That area will be really lovely for your tour, Iceberg is a fabulous Rose. Nice too that you mentioned a good beginner Rose.

The Rose looks perfect in that spot. I think that the parking lot plants are great for filling in gaps in our gardens. They are so low maintenance and are usually fairly affordable. I hope you have a wonderful day.

You certainly are right about iceberg roses in the shade! I have 13 icebergs and six of them are on the north side of my house! Their biggest flush of bloom is of course in spring but they bloom on and off throughout the summer even though they’re under an oak tree on the north side. it’s really quite amazing …they grow more open and taller than the ones in the sun but they look pretty healthy! My favorite rose!

Thank you for celebrating the iceberg rose! I have so many around my front and backyard gardens. Enjoy icebergs for many reasons mentioned. Enjoy the way the iceberg roses ‘dance’ in the breeze. They give me the feeling of being in the South of France. 😊

I love iceberg roses! They are not that common here in MA. One of our generic roses is the knockout rose. I have a few of those in my yard because they are so hardy! The parking lot plants can be common but are so reliable!

Awesome I cant wait to see it grow for you! I planted a climbing Iceberg and a New Dawn climbing rose (light pink) on a cattle panel trellis this spring. They have reached the top and are going over!!! I’m shocked! The iceberg has bloomed good and no blooms from the New Dawn YET! I also put a purple clematis on it too!

That white will really pop in your front garden. I didn't know they came in any other color than white. Thanks for the information. A fyi....you can cut back the Mystic Spires salvia in late July to contain the growth. I do that for most of mine. It takes a couple of weeks to bloom again but it's not so wild looking.

And they make all the colourful plants pop!
I have 2 in my back garden....they never let me down.
You have so many lambs ears....why not divide it and move them closer to the border?
Then you'll have some space for a new perenial or even some bulbs to plant for next spring.
Your cistus? Or verbena is bushing out really well.
    Great for drought tolerant gardens.
    Bye for now, Jo.

Hi Janey, I am enjoying this video about iceberg roses and will have to try growing some. I have a question about your lawn though. It’s so beautiful and green - I’m wondering how many minutes you water it and how often to keep it that way. My lawns have all gone practically dead from having to cut back on watering. I’m in the same zone as you are, but your lawns give me hope. Maybe I just need to water mine a bit longer. Here in Santa Clara County we’ve been asked to water just twice a week. Not sure if you have the same restrictions in Davis. Many thanks for any input you can give me.

I love iceberg too but have don't get many blooms because of shade. Always envious of the "freeway" iceberg roses that are abundantly blooming! Question - do you bury your drip lines in the soil? Once your drought-tolerant plants are established, do you plug the drip lines?

Do you dig up and divide your salvia? I have had one for a few years and I noticed this year (especially with the heatwave) they are falling away from the center. Im not sure if dividing it would help it not "not grow" from the center. Was wondering if you've ever dealt with this.

    • @KODoch48
      @KODoch48 2 года назад

Yes … It’s basically dividing itself. Most plants that start doing that are ready to be divided!
