My favourite Waits performance - and Christ knows I've watched a few. The album version of Mr Siegal went right past me, but this version - at the height of his powers, having just hooked up Brennen and dried out - blows me away every time.
sometimes you think about stuff that is not really something you should be thinking about, but who are the people that disliked this? all that comes to my mind is someone who just randomly stumbled upon and just was not happy with the result, little sad but at least understandable this way

I honestly wish the studio version was more like this, with Waits offsetting his characteristic growl with slick serpent-tongued nuance.
