Thank you Jerry; I enjoy and appreciate your presentations. I own a 2007 Goldwing and just bought a 2018 FLHP and am surprised how much I enjoy it. During my motorcycle teaching days, I used to tell the students (who'd always ask what I ride and or recommend) it doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride. Start with something light enough for you to well control then in a year or two, get something larger (if you want).

I was $20k out the door in Texas last month for a brand new black 2022 FLHP with 6 miles on it, no duty. I like chrome and don't love the built-in fairings so I was planning on a Road King Standard, but when they got rid of that this year and only kept the Special I wasn't sure what I was going to do. A police version wasn't even on my radar till my sales guy called me about this one coming in unexpectedly since he knew I was really leaning toward a black Standard. This ended up being the better buy anyway with the 114 and RDRS, etc and it rides like a dream.
My local Harley Davidson dealer usually has 3 or 4 used police motorcycles for sale in white with the solo saddles. I never asked about the price because I was unsure about how these police bikes are maintained by the departments. Next time I visit my dealer I will take a closer look! Paul Healey here in Lubbock the police bikes are maintained by the H-D dealer.
A dealer close to me will not order you one, but if there is one in the showroom for whatever reason they will sell it to you provided they remove the special lighting and replace it with standard stuff, and stangely, they always have at least one handy!
Jerry -- if you swap the tour-pak's Ultra Brace arm, around, it will fall into place when you open the tour-pak. It is mounted upside down sir. Great videos Motorman!

How Ironic! I just bought a brand new 2020 FLHTP Birch White and I definitely received the Corona Virus discount. I love the 114, the heated grips, RSDS and also the oil cooler gets a fan as standard on the police bikes. These bikes are a gem!

What I love most about the FLHP is the 5" tach and the handlebar/fork mounted speedo. That way you don't need to look down to see what speed you're going. I'm still debating getting that on my RKS.
I watched you washing your bike on one of your video's I came across a new product well new to me it's made buy meguiar's the call hybrid ceramic detailer and it works I've tried alot of products and this is the easiest quickest one yet for me you can even apply over your existing wax or detailer it worked so god for me just wanted to share it because of all the things you've showed us thanks

I was able to get a black 2018 FLHTP with 230 miles for under $18,000 OTD. Definitely a better deal than the Electra standard. Went from a Sporty to this, I love it!

I have 2 roadking police and 3 electra police’s with full sirene, strobe lights you name it. It is the best for touring use. The seat it have a suspension on it, the fairing on electra police is more upright than a streetglide, people may see the electra police is the same as streetglide, but no. You guys should try the police’s HD. It feels totally different, is easier to move left and right on a electra police than a normal streetglide, your seat is taller and it have good suspension so when you go touring and there’s a bump it won’t feel that hard since it’s suspension is soft as hell, and fyi your riding position it’s taller than every touring harley that i’ve tried. Its the best 👍🏼🔥🔥

ive had 2 flhp scooters ..since 2008... a 2007 all blue from billings montana…..and a 2012 blue and white from Alexandria Louisiana....both scooters had less than 3k on them.....good deals on both of them

I have a 2017 FLHP I bought used from a dealership last year with only 2K miles on it. All the fun Police stuff has been removed but the wiring is still in place. The price was considerably cheaper than a standard RK.
I can see the appeal to getting the police version. Great color choices (checked them out on HD website) and I love the high police seat, plus you can mount the police “tour pack” over where the passenger seat would be. Don’t care for the lights or siren/air horn. I also LOVE the tach/speedo swap on the Road King! Looks like there are plenty available used or new. I wonder why more police departments aren’t using these anymore? Maybe they don’t know about how massively upgraded HD touring bikes have gotten since 2014 and again in 2017. All I ever see around SoCal are motor officers on the BMW R1200RT.
Hey Motorman, I purchased an FLHP back in 2004, and took that seat off first thing, because I too am 6' 3"... I still have the seat, the pump with the bladder, and frame cover sitting in my garage...That FLHP was a great riding bike....Good info Motorman...You won't be able to get a tight seal on your CM-6M with that fu-manchu....hahaha
MI police only ride Harley during parades or when doing special escorts and stuff like that. 99% of the time, the on-duty patrol officers are riding the big BMWs
Got my 2019 FLHTP for 17,500 out the door. The dealerships in the area tend to work with us since we have to provide, insure and maintain our own motors.
I just grabbed up a 2019 FLHR (4k miles) for 17 out the door.
I saw a lot of police models out there but didn’t want the speedo on the handlebars (ruins that million dollar view IMO)
I just bought a 2020 with no sign of ever having any police equipment ever installed 8900 miles and came witg a chopped tour pack for $13,500
What are the side wings on your bike? I'm currently looking at the possible purchase of a Police bike since they dropped the Road King standard and I'd like Chrome. Very interested in the winglets and where you got them. Keep up the good work!

I bought a brand new 2021 FLHTP 114 all black from Oakland HD. It was dressed up like a civilian model.....best deal out there (Nov 2021) 20k
First big bike I got was an used police road king. Still had the stickers on it. The siren and the handset was not there. All the other stuff was there and wired up. Had to sign a forum saying that I would delete the stickers and put in the “correct “ light covers. Was a great bike, and price was right. 😬

if you look around in an auto salvage yard you can get a radio for a few dollars
I went from a 2014 Street Glide standard with an unmodified 103 twin cam to a 2017 Road King with a standard 107.
I went to having a fuel range of about 225 miles/6 gallon tank to about 165 for the same size fuel tank.
I can't imagine how often to gotta keep stopping for fuel on a 114 or higher.
3 years ago I could have gotten a new police Electra for about $19k.
Went with the Street Glide instead.

Jerry I’m 6’3”, I have a Road Glide 2019. When I turn the handlebars doing the exercises you teach. The handlebars hit me in the knees. Do you recommend a different size handlebar. Can you recommend a handlebar so that I can maneuver my bike.
I don't know your reach but you can try and angle them upwards. By adjusting at the handelbar clamp. This may not work if they're too wide and low to clear your knees. But if you do end up adjusting, you should also check adjustment of your switch housing and levers. This is so your wrist is not at a weird angle while pulling in the clutch or brake lever. I have adjusted buckhorns or superglide bars with great success to fit me. Might look funky but makes a solid improvement using stock bars. Good luck
H.D. makes bars for taller riders as do many after market company's. Try adjusting them first though.
Check with the dealership. If you go to the HD website and look at both the Road Glide Special and Road Glide Limited, the Limited bars looked to have a inch or two more in height as not to touch your knees in tight turns.
Awesome video Jerry and Camera-girl, thank you. A quicky, [maybe silly], question here ...... Can you, or your PD, start a 'push' for a law to be put forth so that "All" motorcycles in North America have that "kick-butt" horn sound installed as a prerequisite ?, [ If of course the alternator on the bike can handle the required power for one],. or something similar in tone.... That sort of horn sound is so needed in North America. [ I think it would put an end to bikers rev-bombing the 'cagers' when the people on 4 wheels aren't being attentive...], and it sounds awesome. ( I know there are 3rd party units available, but a stock OEM unit would be a sale-clincher, if the customer-demand pushed for it, etc. )
Also, now that I'm being nudged, A question added is, " Is the gearing on your bikes the same as the stock bikes from HD, or are they geared lower from first to 3rd gear?
Maybe include this info, if any in your next video ??....

Hi Jerry, love your videos brother. I live in Palm Harbor, FL and I'm looking at the 2018 Police Roadking 107 that were former Hillsborough county bikes that are for sale at Newport Richey Harley. Could you please share with me what upgrades if any are done to these bikes that would benefit the civilian buying one second hand? Do they all have custom tunes from Harley or performance upgrades from the factory, larger charging systems or anything like that? I'm concerned about the reliability and how these are ridden everyday by officers, how well they are serviced, concern about the condition of the clutch on them when they are turned in for resale to the public and what is done to prep them if anything for reliability? If there is any advice you could give me negative or positive to help in my decision, that would be great, I just want a very reliable machine for years and not have issues right out of the gate
Personally, I wouldn't buy a used police bike simply because they are rode hard by people who don't own them. They are serviced well because the dept. demand that officers bring them in for service usually every 3K miles. There's no way to tell if a clutch is almost worn out without opening the primary and checking the plates. The bikes are the same as the civilian version except, they come with the 114 motor a slightly heavier clutch spring and extra plate and a fan in the oil cooler. If the dealer actually checks the bikes prior to the sale, I couldn't tell you. If you are looking for a police Road King that's never been in police duty (2019 model) with only 2300 miles, or a 2020 Police E/Glide with 1300 miles, both in as new condition, shoot me an email at motorman 1857 @ yahoo.com,

In Belgium, the Electra Glide is starting from 25500 euros (29000 USD). then again, it's import ;)
Great video Jerry! I'm wondering if your aware of any aftermarket similar sounding air horn (don't need the siren) that will fit where my current stock horn is without the amp (ok if it's not as loud as with amp) on my 2003 Fatboy?

Hey Jerry, I think you said something about police agencies not using tour packs or something. I may have misunderstood you but regardless, I see California Highway Patrol and other agencies use their tour packs to stow their laptops in. Probably when you were on duty they weren't using laptops yet because of lack of technology but now I see police motor officers use their tour packs all the time. Maybe I misunderstood you?
What I said was they don't come standard with tour packs. They are an extra cost option.
@@motorman857 ah gotcha. But I'm pretty sure all agencies have tour packs now because as I said I think they all carry laptops in them now to run plates. I know all cruisers for sure have laptops in them for the same reason.
I did a ride a long with SDPD a few months back and I had a lot of fun. The officer I rode with was using his laptop to do random plate runs and whatnot.
We did a felony stop for a theft if you can believe it.

I'm not sure I heard the part about why you get a police bike, specifically...or at least why you get the extra big horn/microphone option. Does the horn/speaker ability come in handy on the road for some reason, or at your courses, or is it just for fun?

What’s the difference between a cruiser police bike vs a BMW R1200RT for example?
A Harley police motorcycle is a heavy weight cruiser/tourer. The BMW is a sport tourer. there are way too many differences in the two to even go into here.

As far as the tall Police solo seats go, they're similar in riding position to the old-style Buddy Seat... Which I've had one of on every bike I've owned.
Most guys think they look goofy... Until they've ridden one.
Personally, I believe that being a bit higher ON the bike, rather than IN the bike... And a bit farther forward, puts ya in a little better balance on the motorcycle... At least I'M much more comfortable with the tight maneuvering on my "high horse"!

At one time I could get a shrine bike ( because I’m a Shriner ) but now the dealers here have no idea about the shrine bikes. Fire and Police bikes, no problem. I don’t know why.

Maybe it’s just me, but...why would anyone who’s not a policeman want a police bike? Just for the bigger motor?
1. Seat rides better, but is higher off the ground. (a lot of guys change the seat out to the lower one)
2. Save $$$thousands$$$ off the price of the electra glide classic with all the stereo and navigational radio equipment, tour pack, which is a waste of money in my opinion. Saddle bags are all you need.

By the time you get the two up seat the tour pack and the Radiohead unit you really didn’t save anything If you want to work with it with those things
Actually, with the 2 up seat, tour pack and radio, I still saved about 8 thousand over the price of an E/glide special.
