Well before watching this, I know that outside of Planet 4546B is that Dolphins are extinct which sucks :( It’s been confirmed it was in a PDA Entry in the original Subnautica. I think it was mentioned in one of the Fauna entries.
In the Subnautica Below Zero experimental build, there is a dialogue chain between Robin and Al-An wherein Robin asks him why his species can't just stay safe inside their computers to survive. Al-An responds by saying something along the lines of "The same reason your kind did not survive on your planet," I thought maybe this was worth noting
Hmmm that's really interesting :) wonder if we'll learn more about that in the full game.....if it were true though, then the chance of them surviving in computers would be lower I suppose.
Actually if you tell anyone that you crash landed and had to build to survive the government would not force you to pay that debt and force altera would be forced to forgive the debt
@@TheLastBacon after going through what you go through on Subnautica you wouldn't really go into debt the courts would either have it forgiven or reduced
One interesting tidbit of information is the radiation suit's PDA entry says 'The Radiation Suit: A necessary precaution in a post-MAD world.' (Mutually Assured Destruction.)
Robin has a cat called Potato. In a picture which contains Robin and Potato in an apartment, there is what seems to be a futuristic city in the background visible through the apartment window. this could possibly be Robin's home planet and it kind of gives you an idea of what a city would look like in the subnautica universe
The game states when you get the survival knife how the pda tells you almost every other weapon was removed from the fabricator after a massacre. With the exception of the survival knife
I think that ban is on transgovs having a military, not on small arms in the hands of people on dangerous worlds. I mean, you can get friggin torpedo tubes.
I remember enjoying life after i got cured and had a perfect working base with a great view I felt no desire to build the rocket and return. Also altera uses human to run test and experiments such as solving puzzles using teleportation portals.
Actually there is an interesting connection to Portal, as Subnautica takes place in the same universe as Unknown Worlds other game Natural Selection 2, which was originally a Half Life mod, which is connected to Portal

My guess is that Alterra is actually the Subnautica devs making a game based on a guy that managed to cure this crazy alien disease and got off a planet filled with REAPERS and REAPERS and REAPERS and PEEPERS.
man your channel is so interesting since i watched the first video i can't stop watching these videos atleast now i have somethin to do during the pandemic
I only just discovered that the face of the ‘main character’ (Ryley) is the face that it is… To put it simply, I thought that the ever-present character face that we see plastered all throughout the game was Bart Torgal, predominantly because I recall him being of Mongolian descent (as are most humans in the world outside Subnautica). Upon realising this; the main character is Mongolian, alongside nearly every other character, it got me thinking… where are the rest of the world here? You only ever hear of the trans-government and Mongolia ruling over it almost exclusively. So, did Mongolia enter some arms race with the rest of the world and annihilate it? Did they obliterate all world oppositions and all but eliminate people of all other nations? We have Sam, who does not appear to be of any Mongolian descent, but I’m just curious as to the lore here… I may be ignorant to something, but the way I see it, Mongolia (and, for that matter, multipurpose corporates such as Alterra) essentially preside over the trans-government with an iron fist, and Mongolia is almost all of what’s left of humanity… nobody else.
I’m not to sure about where nukes and other weapons are aimed at in the current real life present, but I’m assuming Mongolia was untouched by the conflicts. Mongolia is basically a buffer zone between China and Russia and I can totally see it being overlooked in a war. Overlooked enough that it is able to profit from the power vacuum left over.
Alterra is a bit like in Starship Troopers. an earth where the military controls the world. want to become a citizen? enlist in the corps. (and risk getting torn apart by alien bugs)
What if ryley didnt pay their debts and left the alterra base instead? Because earth has been destroyed, and the solar system of 4546B wasnt conquered, ryley owns that area instead? What if ryley controlled that whole area and developed more technology and Alterra didnt enter the area? Its so interesting as if ryley re-developed humanity in 4546B? The more you discover, more question comes to mind
From playing the game, I'm gathering that Alterra, the Chinese colonies, and the Mongolian states are parts of human space. I would say Earth is doing fine due to futuristic tech, and dolphins are due to climate change. As for the expansion and such, I imagine, took place when humans first began moving outward into the galaxy. I would place the Chinese Colonies as the largest trans-gov we know of. Mongolian states are an up-and-coming border state (hence the smallest) and Alterra I would place at 30% the area of the Chinese trans-gov. As for location - Alterra Space borders Chinese and Mongolian space like a triangle. In NS2 the Kharaa came from the same bacterium as is on 4546B but mutated on a different planet over years to form the hive-mind we know. NS2 Kharaa I peg as affecting Mongolian space and Alterra space heavily, just beginning to reach into Chinese space.
Sounds good :) Though I’d imagine Alterra is pretty close in size to the other large trans-govs since it’s referred to as “one of the largest” while also owning 9% of all the phasegates.
@@TheLastBacon I wouldn't say Alterra Phasegates are in Alterra space, as they don't exactly consider themselves a government 😂. But yeah I think I am wrong about the size
We also know that humans in subnautica have entered the andromeda galaxy since avery quinn talks about how he is from a trans-gov on far side of andromeda
I have a little theory about Gargantuan Leviathan. Perhaps he did not die out, and Rider Prowler are young Gargantuar individuals. This can be proved by the absence of their eggs as well as their similarity.
The reasons Altera only sent one small exploration vessel seem rather clear to me 1: it’s outside not only their territory but everyone’s this is literally uncharted territory. 2: I’m sure their initial interactions with the planet dented their reputation, they lost 2 ships one of which was capital ship carrying a phase gate the other was carrying the equivalent of a foreign leader and they caused another company to loose a ship trying to rescue their employee, they’ll probably wanna be carful from here on. 3: following reason 2 I’m sure they don’t want to loose any more precious cargo or people incase there are any other issues.
@@TheLastBacon it is an exploratory mission I’m sure that at least part of their mission this might be stretching it a bit but if you remember in early development for below zero in the base was a poster that basically said alien tech was worth a lot and any cultural artefacts were worthless and if you know anything about anything then that’s ridiculous it would net lots of money more than tech in some cases so I thought maybe they were trying to get all the tech the could to figure it out and try to essentially make sure the planet was disarmed so they could start building their precursor hotels and under water golf courses with sea monkey club caddy’s.
Please, can i ask, do you have any chance of finding precursor facilities in lost river and lava zone without knowing about them - i mean gives you the game any instructions how to find it without you looking at any video? Thanks
I like to think that humanity in the subnautica universe lives fairly and prosperously. Even though Alterra is a horrible organization and the earth is damaged due to our expansion, things like the trans-government treaty and the prohibition (even in an authoritarian way) of any type of weapon, already means a lot in terms legal and I hope that with the advancement of technology and possibly a third world war occurring, humanity is more aware and responsible for its actions, this is supported by the very fact of human expansion through the cosmos, a type 2 civilization It could not be sustainable in the long term if our current system based on inequality and capitalism is still in force by then, so humanity must definitely regulate its violence (war, injustices, inequality, etc.) in order to expand, This is what anthropology is known as "The Great Filter" that prevents any civilization from achieving expansion and failing that, reaching a type II or even III society on the Kardashov scale, also the fact that Riley can travel FTL (Faster Than Light) to reach the nearest phase gate, facilitates the colonization of other solar systems. I recommend that you delve deeper into this topic in a second part, it is very interesting!
The next one should be his debt was paid off by a wealthy person, so he can helm a massive expedition! That way, all new features are justified by the story! Co Op, as well.
@@TheLastBacon I just think of Dead Space and how revolutionary it was to have the health bar be the spine of the suit. People love when tired cliques are explained as plot, so being a sequel on next gen with bigger and more everything, makes sense. Plus, it's blatantly ripping off Stargate, so go all out and have him helm a Stargate mission.
If I remember correctly wasn’t their a big trade scare with multiple Mongolian corporations poaching from altera. Which was the reason they brought the ambassador and went looking for the ship in the first place
Yeah, he literally says "we're from a little trans-gov on the far side of Andromeda..." when describing Sunbeam so presumably Alterra is there as well! :)
I live in America it's nice to be allowed to own guns as for dictatorships not so much this is an issue today cause another country has to get involved to stop a tyrant because citizens of dictatorships can't own guns and in some cases weapons in general
In below zero inside the omega base there is a pic of a big desert futuristic building and a pic of Sam holding her cat there is a like futuristic building so SUBNAUTICA earth is the future
Wait how did the precursors get to sector 0 mabye the got an other crew to go there but I don’t think that’s possible bc al an says “I was the reason The bacterium was unleashed”so how did they get there ?
What if they can only go a certain distance it could be the distance is short or long but if it’s long then they can go pretty far bc from the creator for the first game to sector 0 is pretty far
Hey maybe do a theory about how much damage the gun did to the aurora and how safe alterra is as in the loading screen it’s only 1 engine shot out and that somehow brought down the whole ship
I’d like to believe that all of the trans govs have their headquarters on earth and from there control some parts of the solar system and other Star systems completely. But what intrigues me the most is that are the nations of earth still existing? Like u said last bacon that the UN doesn’t exist in the 22nd century, so do u think that the 193 nations of earth went their separate ways by becoming member nations of trans govs like alterra, I mean if we look at the trans gov the Mongolian independent states it says that most of the Chinese provinces or territories became independent nations and together formed trans govs, So it’s obvious that the trans gov governmental system is mimicking the UN’s, if we look at alterra they became a trans gov because apparently they profited of off weapon sales to other nations thus creating a Ww3 on earth and they forced all the other nations and trans govs to sign the charter to end this nuclear war on earth, and possibly allowing some nations to join alterra. After that from what I understand humanity has colonized so many worlds and we apparently went as far as andromeda because the wiki says the trans gov that owns sunbeam controls systems in andromeda. And I also believe there is currently some Cold War between all the 12 trans govs (4 known and 8 unknown) for who gets to reverse engineer precursor tech, alterra having more leverage since 4546b is a gold mine when it comes to precursor technology, I’d also believe that precursor tech has been found on human colonies too!
The Last Bacon well, we know they’ve teamed up with other totally opposite companies like Nintendo and they always have some forms of Easter eggs references in their games, so might not be out of the question. The Elder Scrolls and Fallout planets, might also make an appearance who knows?

Yeah Mongolia is pretty much one of if not THE leading superpower of the world :) Both in technology and wealth.
Yep, very similar :)
3:23 This is kinda just a GUESTIMATE
You know :D like a guess and an estimate!
Would be super cool if he reactivated the gun and claimed ownership of the planet :)
You can get out of debt by before leaving feeding you PDA to a reaper because who’s gonna fish it out?
Love the idea :D
homies chilling, they just vibin while you fighting for your life.
Ikr :) poor Ryley...
Nice vids man
Thank you! :)
Good observation :) those phase-gates must really be something!
I was always wondering about this
Thanks
Glad you liked it! :)
Alterra probably believed Riley because he would use his pda as proof
Hopefully! :)
My Question is:What's with this big Planet right over 4546B?
Perhaps 4546A :)
I have a little theory about Gargantuan Leviathan. Perhaps he did not die out, and Rider Prowler are young Gargantuar individuals. This can be proved by the absence of their eggs as well as their similarity.
I suppose it's possible :) That would be one heck of a life-cycle to grow to that size!
I love your videos!
Congratulations the last Bacon didnt reply:D
My god I love this game even tho I’m terrified of it
Same here :)
why does it fell like the creators of subnautica have a time machine?
I sure hope not :D
Dammit why are your videos soo good
Cause I have an amazing community that motivates me to make content :)
The reasons Altera only sent one small exploration vessel seem rather clear to me
1: it’s outside not only their territory but everyone’s this is literally uncharted territory.
Yeah true :) but then again, if that was happening to me (loosing ships in one specific spot) I'd really want to get to the bottom of it!
So you can say there wasn't enough "SPACE" to go around
Eyyyyyy :D
Please, can i ask, do you have any chance of finding precursor facilities in lost river and lava zone without knowing about them - i mean gives you the game any instructions how to find it without you looking at any video?
Thanks
Yes you must find the facilities yourself
Ok thanks
I'm pretty sure that at some point, the game will point you towards the lava zone one, but not sure about river :)
I am painting my bathroom tile walls with RUclipsrs pro pics lol
That must be pretty challenging :)
I hope subanutica branches off and theirs more story to do with the aliens out in the galaxy
Who knows :) maybe they'll make a whole game universe around it.
Humans are Making a big Party in Earth 😎
I'd hope so :)
Protagonist: *returns from 4546b 1 trillion credits in debt*
Altera's employees: They're grooving
That is a very positive thought :)
It takes place in the year 3000.
Or close yeah :)
@@TheLastBacon In the natural selection. I saw date.
@@Wadethewallaby2001 I saw that date as well, im not sure of the exact year but it was a 3000
I really think in real life there's a planet like 4546b the universe /space is infinite big there has to be something similar
It’s possible I suppose! :)
I think that the first Subnautica was 1000x better than Below Zero
Well I'm trying not to judge before the game comes out :)
I mean alterta HQ said they were going for sandwiches so I guess they're happy
Wait did they say that? :D
@@TheLastBacon in the transmission about the Neptune escape rocket, somebody off mic asked if they wanted sandwiches
The Last Bacon and on a radio message they talk about ham and cheese sandwiches
The next one should be his debt was paid off by a wealthy person, so he can helm a massive expedition!
That way, all new features are justified by the story! Co Op, as well.
I definitely agree :) he certainly deserves to be pardoned of the debt!
1:29
And how do we Know?!?!?
*Natural Selection*
Yep :) there's certainly more lore hiding there!
If I remember correctly wasn’t their a big trade scare with multiple Mongolian corporations poaching from altera. Which was the reason they brought the ambassador and went looking for the ship in the first place
Oh I suppose that's possible :) I can't quite remember.
Alterra is station in both andromeda and the Milky Way..if you take the sunbeam into account they are a transgov on the edge of the andromeda galaxy
Could definitely be the case :) I think more info on this is in Natural Selection right?
Bacon, teach me how to edit lol
What program? :)
The one you use 😅
Just a question, how long have you been doing RUclips?
More than 3 years now :)
Ok more than I thought for sure
Bacon I love you man
Love you guys too! :)
subnautica is soooo underated!
It's definitely a good game :)
According to Avery Quinn Alterra is already at the andromeda galaxy
Yeah, he literally says "we're from a little trans-gov on the far side of Andromeda..." when describing Sunbeam so presumably Alterra is there as well! :)
I live in America it's nice to be allowed to own guns as for dictatorships not so much this is an issue today cause another country has to get involved to stop a tyrant because citizens of dictatorships can't own guns and in some cases weapons in general
Well, it's definitely been one of the staples of the American culture for a long time :) ....though I'm not sure if that alone could stop a dictator.
Probably not unless you're skilled/trained to be an assassin
In below zero inside the omega base there is a pic of a big desert futuristic building and a pic of Sam holding her cat there is a like futuristic building so SUBNAUTICA earth is the future
Well you're not wrong :) Subnautica does take place in the future and Earth does canonically exist in the universe.
Wait how did the precursors get to sector 0 mabye the got an other crew to go there but I don’t think that’s possible bc al an says “I was the reason The bacterium was unleashed”so how did they get there ?
Well they can teleport so I don't think it would be hard for them to get there :)
It's definitely an interesting question :) I talked a bit about it already in my Aurora vid.
The Last Bacon Ah haven’t seen that one thnx
Yeah what probably happened is that many countries “fused” and some just really expanded in size :)
@@TheLastBacon agreed
Corona: comes to America
Subnatica players: we have plan
We just need a couple emperors and all will be good :D
I’m gonna crash into neptune to save our asses
I’m going in 3 days
Maybe we will discover that Subnautica is part of Bethesda’s Starfield universe...! Far fetched just a little
Now that would be a twist :) if they took place in the same universe...
The Last Bacon well, we know they’ve teamed up with other totally opposite companies like Nintendo and they always have some forms of Easter eggs references in their games, so might not be out of the question. The Elder Scrolls and Fallout planets, might also make an appearance who knows?
hey bro I have an idea for your next video can humens colonies 4561b I think that with the sea empire free and the help with Riley Robinson and robin I think they can if so will they live side by side with the wild life think about it . 👍
Interesting idea :) I'd think that with the planet now being cured....they probably could!
The Last Bacon I agree with planit cure I'm shore they can but I hope if they do they will keep the invirment safe and not kill the butefill wild life but keep it safe 👍
I think for subnautica below zero when you leave I feel like nobody is on the plant no more and the city is abandoned for the fact that the precursors actually never got their cure for the kahraa and maybe all be extinct but alan
Yeah true it feels like the planet remains empty :)
2:09 so basically a alternative COVID-19 that is on earth, not just planet 4546B
Oof, kinda :)
who didn't watch this video they fake
Cause it's still a great video
Haha thank you :) but I do respect everyone's taste!
If it was possible to see the leviatian that's in the ice alive and swimming every person would shit themself
I know I definitely would :D
@@TheLastBacon then everyone would have a fewr of large body's of water 😂😂😂
