Thank you for this! I got a custom spiral bound planner but it is huge. Will do this to trim down. And next time will order disc bound!! Thanks so much!
Dec 2022 thank you and bless you. 💕 I'm gifting a friend some EC filler paper for her Happy Planner. Now I know where to punch the spiral paper and not trim it off. Happy Holidays. ❄️❤️
I cover the existing paper holes with washi tape, front and back, then hole punch the pages. I experimented on scrap paper until I got the hang of it. It makes a very pretty border.
I was planning to convert my EC EC petitplanner into an A5 binder because of the variety of planner options. Didnt think EC Spiral would work for Disc system. Great Video!💕
I was surprised at how well it works!! If I wasn’t such a chicken about punching my old school EC covers that you can’t get anymore I’d always and forever do it this way! 😂
If you are still using this system I would suggest covering the preexisting holes with washi and then punching them. It will make the edges neater and reinforce the pages for the discs.
Great tip! I was worried about bulking up the pages too much so I skipped that step but I think it definitely looks better with the tape on the edges. Thanks for watching!
Ugh I knowwww! I love everything about Erin Condren but man I wish it was more customizable! I need her bright, happy layout but I also desperately need customizability!
Great video girl! You slayed me with your Blues Clues notebook comment. LOL.. that was funny!! I bought the PRETTIEST white disc notebook with matching white pen (black ink) from Office Max. I'll send you a picture. I will have to try some of the aluminum discs.... isn't that punch the BEST?! I have it and it punches like butter! Hope you get a chance to make more videos. I love them!!
Perfect video! I just bought one of these systems yesterday and I'm excited to use it but didn't know what to do. This video really helps and your planners are too cute. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I love the disc also. But the Erin Condren planners are so pretty. I haven't purchased an Erin Condren because of the spiral. Now I think I can have the best of both.
Thank you so much for being the Guinea pig and trying this! I like the EC layout and size but prefer discs so currently forcing a mini HP to fit my needs more or less successfully. Great to know I have options!
thanks for the visual where you pick up the planner with one piece of paper. I love EC planners but I need more notes pages. was debating the new monthly deluxe, but this may solve my needs!
Woman after my own heart!! I’m a circa binder user for notes and projects, but haven’t officially been a planner. Now I’m getting pretty desperate for an organizing system in place, but I don’t want to give up my circa flexibility and really struggling to see myself in any of the planners I’m shopping. I like the bujo-esque functionality of the circa binder. I wondered if the notebooks could be deconstructed and reassembled but didn’t want to drop $60 to try. I still struggle with the size differences though. I have letter and junior sizes and the planners are all 7x9 smack in the middle. 😂🤦🏻♀️
Girl, the struggle is real! Although I’m not currently the disc system it really is one of my favorites and something I think about returning to often.
Hi! I love your video. I would love an update on whether this is still working for you? How has it held up to use? Do you carry it around with you? I have been thinking of doing this for a while. Also, I have the Arc punch as well and considering investing in the Levenger discs but I've heard the pages don't turn as well with this punch/disc combination. What's your experience? Thanks!
Excellent video!!! I love my EC, but badly want to be able to customize it. This is perfect! I'm excited to get started. Thank you for the excellent tutorial and tips!
It really is a super durable punch! I'm currently using a Leuchtturm Bullet Journal since I have almost nothing going on right now but I very often think about going back to this disc bound Erin Condren system. Her planners are my favorite! Maybe someday she'll sell them unpunched!
I had them override at the register too for 30% off on the heavy duty punch. The coupon code didnt work, but the fine print didn't say that is excluded the punch.
Abigail Free I was so fortunate. Way before I decided to try an arc planner, I found an arch punch at Goodwill and knew I would be using it someday. Maybe I paid $5 for it, maybe less.
Hi Allie! I actually ended up back in a spiral because I didn't want to ruin my covers by punching them. I have since considered moving back to the discbound option because I think it is so much more useful than the spiral. The 2017/2018/2019 paper that Erin Condren is now using is so much thicker and heavier than her past planners so I'm sure it would hold up just fine. If you don't mind a daily planner she did just release her daily Petite Planners that you can take apart and punch without going into pre-existing holes. That might be a more secure option. Let me know how it goes and thanks for watching!
Hi, I know this video is 3 years old, just writing on the off chance you’ll see this. I’m sure I misunderstood 😬 Regarding the EC planner, I thought you said you put the discs in the existing holes, and then later that you did punch the EC pages. I really want to do this, thanks in advance. 😊
Hi there! You’re in luck because 3 years later I’m still just as obsessed with talking about planners haha! You do have to punch the EC pages for the discs BUT if you line the paper up in the punch you are punching through existing holes which helps protect the integrity of the pages. It just so happens to work out that when you line the EC pages up in the middle of the punch it goes right through the holes that are already there. I hope that helps and please let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks so much for watching :)
I believe those were from the Staples Arc brand. You can find them online or in the store. Some of the dividers and pouches may have also been the Martha Stewart line. You can find her products sporadically at Staples. I hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!
Hi Maryann! If you search RUclips for Erin Condren coil removal I think there are a few videos about that. I just use a set of pliers and straighten out the ends of the coil and uncoil it!
My old teacher used to call those "chubby wubbies" and would talk about them "mating" and making mixed breed chubby wubbies. She had us rolling in class;
I didn't use any of the preset sizes on the hole punch for the EC. I had to kind of eyeball it and make sure the pages were centered on the punch. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching :)

Happy Holidays. ❄️❤️
I cover the existing paper holes with washi tape, front and back, then hole punch the pages. I experimented on scrap paper until I got the hang of it. It makes a very pretty border.
This is also a great option and looks very pretty! Thanks for watching!
The problem I had with this hack is that the washi edge gets too thick and the other side thin. and I like keeping all the year together.
Great tip on using the packing tape to punch the EC covers. I always had problems with it in the past and gave up. Now I'm going to revisit!
I was planning to convert my EC EC petitplanner into an A5 binder because of the variety of planner options. Didnt think EC Spiral would work for Disc system. Great Video!💕
Thank you so much for watching! Let me know how converting your planner goes! I love find new ways to make my planners more useful!
This Video was so well done. I have watched videos forever and you use great lemans terms and make understanding easy. I also got a few New ideas, TY
Thank you for your kind words!
OMG. Thank you for showing the EC punched discbound!!!
I was surprised at how well it works!! If I wasn’t such a chicken about punching my old school EC covers that you can’t get anymore I’d always and forever do it this way! 😂
I really benefited from hearing and seeing how the punches work, thanks so much!
I'm glad it helped! Thanks so much for watching!

This is exactly what I needed to see. I love EC paper and calendar set up, but wanted discbound. I will be transferring mine tomorrow!
Am i the only one confused why EC doesnt have a disc option now?
Ugh I knowwww! I love everything about Erin Condren but man I wish it was more customizable! I need her bright, happy layout but I also desperately need customizability!
Very good video! Informative - thank you! Converting my Erin Condren to Arc once I get my punch! So glad I watched this! 😊

I love, love the arc anything now!! Truly enjoyed your video.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. I think I might turn my EC into an arc as well.
Thank you for this video. I love the disc also. But the Erin Condren planners are so pretty. I haven't purchased an Erin Condren because of the spiral. Now I think I can have the best of both.
I wish Erin Condren would offer a unpunched option someday!
Thank you so much for being the Guinea pig and trying this! I like the EC layout and size but prefer discs so currently forcing a mini HP to fit my needs more or less successfully. Great to know I have options!
Haha no worries! I love being able to experiment and share my findings with you guys! It’s the scientist in me :)
I can't say enough about your videos! You will make an excellent TEACHER!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Question: I would love an update on whether this is still working for you or how long you used it for? How has it held up to use?
I got super excited until I saw this is 5 years old.

The disc bound system is so versatile and very useful! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
I am loving this idea!!!!
Love the Erin Condren and will be trying this with one of them. Tanks for sharing.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It works really well in the discs. Thanks for watching!
Nice planner I really like this.
I need that black cover!
I'm glad that you found your plannerpeace. It seems like there is no plannerpeace for me, haha))
Great info & techniques. Thanks a bunch! Keep up the great work! D
Great hack with reinforcing the edges with packing tape!
Thank you! I tried laminating over it with a strip of lamination pouch but it did not stick. The tape worked much better. Thanks for watching!
That punch is the best
I love the arc system thinking of disc binding my EC
It really is a super durable punch! I'm currently using a Leuchtturm Bullet Journal since I have almost nothing going on right now but I very often think about going back to this disc bound Erin Condren system. Her planners are my favorite! Maybe someday she'll sell them unpunched!
I also wondered if you are able to reposition the punched pages without ripping or damaging them as they are punched twice?
I know I'm almost a year late, but where did you get the black leather cover? I love it! Tfs!
Very lucky! I love that punch but man is it pricey!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
from where your black cover? she is amazing
Is it possible to order one of these planners unbound? I know I've seen people talk about how plum paper planner makes that an option.
Very nice. It would bother me to have the extra pre- punch holes with the disc holes
My first time watching your videos.....really enjoyed, got some great ideas. Will check arch rings....and subscribe!
Could you give an update on how the pages, dashboards, folder and covers held up after use? Am dying to get an EC but LOVE my Arc...

you can cover the holes with pretty washitape before you punch it
I absolutely love it!!!! ❤️❤️❤❤️
I loved your video
I can't stop laughing at the hole punch spill 😂
you never one month reviewed your Rough and Tumble backpack, can you do that after this long please?
Yes! I put it on my list of upcoming videos to film! It's holding up beautifully and I still carry it every day :)
Do you think this will work with horizontal?
Hi, I know this video is 3 years old, just writing on the off chance you’ll see this. I’m sure I misunderstood 😬 Regarding the EC planner, I thought you said you put the discs in the existing holes, and then later that you did punch the EC pages. I really want to do this, thanks in advance. 😊

That helps a lot! Thanks for your reply!
Could you please tell me where to find a black cover like the one you have?
Hi Carol! I got this cover from Staples. You can sometimes find it on Amazon as well. Thank you for watching!
Where did you purchase the plastic pouches & the dividers already punched?
I believe those were from the Staples Arc brand. You can find them online or in the store. Some of the dividers and pouches may have also been the Martha Stewart line. You can find her products sporadically at Staples. I hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!
Jessica Torina // RubyDoobies thanks for the info; your video helped me :)
No problem! Please let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Please show how you take the spiral off
Hi Maryann! If you search RUclips for Erin Condren coil removal I think there are a few videos about that. I just use a set of pliers and straighten out the ends of the coil and uncoil it!
@@JessicaTorina thank you.
Where did you get the dot grid paper you template
I just Googled dot grid paper, printed it off, and cut in half :)
Maybe washi tape would make the holes less noticeable
My old teacher used to call those "chubby wubbies" and would talk about them "mating" and making mixed breed chubby wubbies. She had us rolling in class;
How did you use the arc hole puncher on the EC planner? The EC has 9 rings and the HP had 8 rings?
I didn't use any of the preset sizes on the hole punch for the EC. I had to kind of eyeball it and make sure the pages were centered on the punch. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching :)
