    As a newbie planner, a detailed video explaining your system would be greatly appreciated. I impulsively bought a gorgeous 2020-21 planner from Rifle Paper Company and, without knowing that there's a whole planner community, innocently went to RUclips for some quick ideas about how to set it up. Wow. Here I am four days - and hours of RUclips watching - later, and feeling a bit overwhelmed. My personality type is squarely in the perfectionist camp, so I'm trying to resist the urge to buy everything and go about setting up the "perfect system," which experience tells me doesn't exist. Trying to follow my personal mantra of "Done is better than perfect" but all the pretty things..... I want them all!!! Yours is the first channel I've come across that seems to put function over form and I think I can learn a lot from your approach to planning.

      Thank you for watching and thank you so much for your kind words! I have been deep into this planning world for years now so I totally understand falling down the rabbit hole haha! I will work on filming a video about how I plan in detail for my next post. My old Midori bullet journaling videos might offer you some good planning tips, since it's similar to the system I showed in this video, but just housed in a traveler's notebook.
      The best advice I can give right now, while you're getting your feet wet, is don't be afraid to experiment to try to find what suits you, but try to be frugal and look for free printable and test inserts until you really find your groove. I have been pretty much using the same planner system/setup (monthly/weekly planner + bullet journal) for a while now, I just needed to find the perfect housing for it! I hope that helps and please let me know if you have any more questions!

      @@JessicaTorina Thanks for your response. Do you have any suggested resources for free printables? I also need to think about getting some good pens. I've got some Pigma Micron 05s and Studio Series Micro-line 05 that I've used in bullet journaling the past few years. Any brands you particularly like? There's so many!
      I did make the decision to go ahead and invest in an Inkwell Press 360 discbound system, so the frugal ship has sailed so to speak LOL. I did get the $20 sample insert bundle to try the different layouts, and got the $20 gift card to be used towards my insert purchase once I've made a decision. But I've not bought any stickers or other kinds of inserts. Again, thanks. I'm truly enjoying your channel and learning a lot.

    I've been doing my own inserts for A5 and half-letter for over 10 years. I used to use a simple half-letter 3 ring binder, tab dividers, and page protectors from the local office supply store. Although it was ugly, it let me focus on the page layouts. I started doing half letter disc-punched about 5 years ago but it was too hard to make my own covers and dividers (the punching was hard) so I didn't stick with it. It looked so "cobbled together" no matter what I did. Lately the disc system has had a resurgence and I am LOVING the new options for covers and dividers and dashboards, plus specifically the Cloth & Paper and 8Lotus inserts/printables. The minimalist look speaks to me. I use a Notiq stone gray agenda with champagne metal discs. This is separate from my work planner which is an Erin Condren hourly/horizontal frankenplanner. I use the hourly pages to track my time by project for billing, and the horizontal to manage my tasks. That one stays in my work bag when not in use. I don't like mixing work with home so it's fine for me to have multiple planners.

      I've found myself gravitating towards the minimalistic setup this year as well! I'm finding the simplicity to be really refreshing. I'm glad discs are working for you now!

    I use Cricut acetate sheets for my dashboards now, it give me a cleaner look than I would with the laminate sheets/pockets.

      That’s a great idea, I’ll check it out! The laminated pockets do tend to get a little warped :) Thank you so much for watching!

    This is the first video of yours I've seen and I really like it! I've been using a discbound system for bulletjournaling for a while, although I did my planning bullet journaling style as well. I just love the flexibility of keeping collections in one place and planning in one place and add dividers for whatever you want.
    For 2021 I moved to a premade planner for the first year and bough Happy Planners, but for next year I'll use my own inserts to fit my system better.
    I'm still figuring out how to set everything up to work best for me and I never thought of keeping monthlies in one section and weeklies in another, I've always just written out my monthly at the beginning of the month and then started on my dailies/weeklies, then went on to the next month once it was time etc.
    Now I have a planner with dividers for each month, but after watching this I'm considering moving things around ;)

      Thank you so much for watching! I also love the flexibility of the discbound system. I love my gorgeous ring bound planners but I just cant stand writing over the rings, so I've settled on discbound for now. I'm actually dabbling in my Hobonichi cousin now and having to get creative to set up the same system in a bound book. Always an adventure haha!

    How do you type on Peanuts Planner Co before you print them? I can't edit mine.

    • @JessicaTorina
      @JessicaTorina  3 года назад +2

      I open them with the Preview app on my Mac and then click the little edit icon button...I think it’s a little pencil? Then I select the text box button and add whatever I need to type. If you don’t have a Mac you might try downloading a free document editor? I hope that helps but let me know if you have more questions!

      Are you using half letter or A5 size?? I havent tried these sizes but heard that they are similiar. TIA

    • @JessicaTorina
      @JessicaTorina  3 года назад

      Thank you so much for watching! This is a half-letter size planner. It’s almost identical to A5. A5 is an international size and it’s exactly half of an A4 sheet of paper while half-letter is just half of one of our sheets of standard paper. A5 is 8.27” tall by 5.83” wide and half-letter is 8.5” tall by 5.5” wide. They’re close enough in size that I use them both in this planner without issue. The Erin Condren monthly inserts are A5. Hope that helps!

      These are 1” discs. I thought about going up to 1.5” but I didn’t want it to get too bulky. I’m trying to keep things slim right now so I have no excuse not to take my planner with me everywhere! Thanks so much for watching!
