I LOVED TOM LAKE! Meryl was a predictably incredible narrator. And it is perfect for spring! It is like a gentle walk with a close trusted family member. You’re gonna love it

Murderbot is the best series I've read this year. I'm on book 5 right now and I look forward to your feelings on books 3 & 4. One of my favorite parts of long flights is I will just BLAZE through books (something about being trapped with nowhere to go makes me so productive LOL). I hope you have an amazing trip, I'm going to Japan next year and am so excited to finally go!

Tom Lake was so so so good! I hope you like it. It’s definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. Also, Meryl Streep was the perfect narrator!

Poison Study is so amazing! I recently discovered this is actually a 7 book series! Any books past the 3rd book are hard to find but I’ve seen them sold on used book sites.

Desperately waiting for what you have to say about Tom Lake. The audiobook is beautiful. Meryl's voice is perfect for the character. I read Bel Canto because of you and it was a fantastic read.

safe travels + have a fantastic vacation!
your may picks are intriguing. hope i will get around to the expanse series soon. loved the tv show.
funny enough, i just read the first 3 books of the chronicles of ixia (poison, magic, and fire study) and really, really enjoyed them! great characters, world, magic, and adventures. for me, the romance subplot came out of nowhere, though. but, yea, great reads! just started with book 4.
looking forward to hearing your thoughts on north woods, naomi novak, and the licanius trilogy!
    happy reading and traveling! 💜

I just finished 'Spark of the Everflame' The Kindred's Curse Saga, Book One and it's pretty good. I've seen people talk about how the next book is great so I'm excited to dive in to book 2.
I'm reluctant to begin The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb because I don't know if my poor heart can take the emotional toil but I'm SO INTRIGUED! Agh!

I hope you have an amazing time in Japan! I was there years and years ago, and I want to go back. I am a Japan nerd.
I don't have a set May TBR, because, as usual, I am trying to just knock out my overall TBR and read the books I own I haven't read yet (and whatever preorders come out), but I know I want to read Husky & His White Cat Shizun vol 5, Relics of Ruin, SOS Hotel: Sleep With Us, and finish the Story Thieves series. Also want to read one of my Japanese language books. We will see what else I get to.

    🦋 May TBR 🦋
I've started The Legends of the First Empire in April, on your recommandation. I'm done with Age of Myth, and I hope to be able to listen to Age of Sword and the 3rd one (Age of something, I imagine 😂).
Also, for my "ereader-read", I'm rereading my way through The Farseer trilogy to FINALLY get to The Fitz and The Fool 🥺. This month, I'm aiming to finish Assassin's Quest and then jump to reread the 1st Tawny Man book.

Have a fantastic time in Japan! Where are you going? I went in October and I'm going back in June, which was not initially part of the plan for this year. 😂 I was way too tired to read when I went in October, so I'm on the fence about bringing any books with me. I might bring a couple of short books for the plane, or maybe if I need quiet time since I'm going with three other people. I've only heard good things about The North Woods. I have yet to read any Ann Patchett, but her books keep coming up, so I'm definitely intrigued. In May I always read books for the Asian readathon, so I'm reading Dragonfruit by Makiia Lucier, Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q Sutano, The Bandit Queens by Pirini Shroff, A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal, and The Old Capital by Yasunari Kawabata

Is reading Assassin's Fate during uour vacations a good idea ? 😅
I have just started The Ballad of Songbirds and Snake
I plan to read as well the Dragon Republic by R.F Kuang, The Hurrican Wars by Thea Guanzon (not sure about this one, I heard mixed things) and maybe Daughter of the Forest if I have the time.
I also got from my library the last Tiffany McDaniels book, On the Savage Side. Have you tried any Tiffany McDaniels books ? I think it would be totally your style. There are literary fiction books that border slighty on magical realism with beautiful lyrical writing and tacle very heavy topics. The emotional damage is real.

Even more than 2 arcs, the Expanse is organized into 3 arcs that follow the scope and players in the conflicts. First arc is obviously the conflict between the traditional human factions of mars, earth and belters. For spoilers sake, wont mention players in the other two arcs.
