I'll have another part to this adventure up soon....off to LHR now. Jb.
awesome job JB, thank you for sharing.... Absolutely perfect soundtrack !!!
The sights and sounds of the Saline Valley.
Beautiful film! 🙂
As always, thanks for taking us along! 👍
Great great video Juan thank you!!
If you fancy doing some GA flying at this part of the world Juan, get in touch and we can go in a PA28
Some have all the fun and I know it is not luck. A bucket list airport for me! I always enjoy your visits to England. Especially when you include some of the sights and sounds.
Juan proves that you can fly over mountains without jumping out of the airplane. Thank you for making these videos!
🇺🇲👍😀
Haha!
you left out the best part. he just happened to land in a thorn bush.
No only that there were girls waiting for him the next day not the FAA.
He didn't jump. He was sucked out.
I rode a motorcycle thru Death Valley at night in July a couple years back, and from 12:30 am to 04:30 am I never saw another soul. Out in the middle of DV, I stopped on the road and shut off the bike, the silence and darkness were overwhelming! It may be the closest thing in North America, to a foreign planet. And it was 108 F at midnight in Furnace Creek!
I was actually coming here to say something similar- went in by motos about 10 years ago on Christmas day with a pal. Ran up the mountain roads 'til we hit snow, then came down to Badwater and up to Teakettle and Racetrack. Definitely would love to fly in, just me and the tinnitus.
Went there in the late 90s with my then girlfriend (now wife) We were staying the Furnace Creek Resort and one night we grabbed a bottle of champagne and went out to the middle of the salt flats in our rental Ford Explorer. Climbed up on the roof (because rental) and there was ZERO sound and the most amazing view of the stars we have ever seen. Hit the scan button on the radio and it did not pick up a single station. So cool.
We miss those skies. It's been gray here in Germany for the last 9 months straight.
@@inyobill Sounds like Oregon this time of year!
I was there in September and it was 105 degrees. (Honestly, I didn't think the thermometer in my car went that high, lol.)
Can't imagine DV in July. Well, yes I can, and you won't find me there... 😁
I spent 12 years in the Air Force a long time ago, saw a lot of this country but never saw what you showed me today. Thanks, really enjoyed it.
Bush plane....a tent....and Led Zepplin.....what a trip.!
Been watching you since Oroville, Juan. This is by far the best you have ever put together, in my opinion. Gads, what an Adventure! And the covered Zeppelin soundtrack, the stills you threw in that were absolute abstract art. Well done, man. Well done!
Absolutely 💯
Get down bush whacker saaaaaaaaweet
Way cool Juan,
When I was a kid in oh 68 maybe 69 we were on vacation in eastern Colorado, mom’s hometown of Stratton,
Anyway just east of her hometown was is a small river, I was out there plinking up on the only hill around (made from dredging the river bed. Anyhow I’m just plinking with my grandpas .22 LR and low and behold I got jumped by 2 F-4 Famtoms scared the bejesus out of me. First Fighter jets I had ever seen. Way cool. I was 10 yrs old.
Keep up the good work and thanks Juan. 👍✅🙏
Everyone is mentioning Led Zeppelin but no one has commented on the Dave Brubeck at the beginning of the video. Seems like you have good taste in music, Juan. I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
I flew into the Chicken Strip a few years ago and really enjoyed the flight and the hot springs. The strip itself is kept up by local volunteers affiliated with the RAF and other local pilot groups. Thanks to those volunteer pilots
Death Valley and surrounding areas are uniquely beautiful.
Could totally make it as a fly-in bush camping RUclipsr! Love this little gem of a video out of the ordinary!
I began camping in Death Valley in the early 1950's so I have lots of experience. I gotta say that those coyotes were very close to you.
When I first moved to my place here in Trinity County back in 83 the local coyotes would go past my bedroom windows just after dawn on a well worn path. Assuming that coyotes are mostly nocturnal we figured they were on their way back to their den after a hard days night making a living
We also have lots of local gray foxes that live right here on our property and the occasional mountain lion leaves their tracks in the snow
The silence and beauty of the desert in the winter. The jets are a bonus.
Brilliant post all round. Major Tom is one cool cat. F-18's over the desert in the middle of the night is awesome. And now you're off to London? Squeeze in a life-time every day I guess.
A little Zep on the adventure, your a class act Jaun!
lol my dog heard the coyotes and replied out the back door! lovely Juan - I bet you could make a video of watching water boil interesting! your talent for story telling is a source of joy in these days of covid - still sheltering in place
Whoa!! I absolutely love this adventure you shared. As a backpacker I can related to some of your camping gear; the lighter the better. With today's technology the light stuff is efficient, comfortable and worth every dime. As a hang glider pilot of 46 years I envy your ability to carry your camping gear, land out, setup camp, enjoy the wilderness and then takeoff from level ground - they haven't invented a hang glider able to flap its wings for takeoff yet and I'm not about to attach a motor to it :).
Great scenery, great music and great story. Thanks for the post.
Driven into Saline solo so many times. Minimum 1 week stay for me, for full relaxation. 2WD SUV south pass 2006 w/ snow; Last time was 2012 Mayan Calendar DEC 21 (tent camped in 17 degrees). Very rough roads and challenging conditions. Not every female likes this kinda remote camping, but I live for it!
We love, loved our visits to Saline Valley. One thing we miss living in Germany are the night skies.
I soar high over the Inyos every summer in my glider. For years I've had the Chicken Strip in my GPS as a backup landout field, but I didn't know what it looked like! However landing there in the summer would be an extreme Plan B, C, or probably Plan Z! Thanks Juan for the video of this very remote field.
Fo folks not aware, duration soaring records are set in this area.
Froze my tail off motorcycle camping in Death Valley. Eerie quiet at night--no bugs, no wind, nothing. All you could hear was your USMC issued tinnitus.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me tag along. Those F-18 picks are unbelievable. And Led Zeppelin is never a bad choice.
Outstanding, Juan! You outdid yourself this time. That touched all of the strings. Just like being there. Sorry when it ended. What fun that was.
great shots of Tahoe and the Sierra.
I cant shake the feeling that seeing the snow covered mountains, makes you hope for a year without the fear that your house is going to burn down. I wish you the best!
I was waiting for you to run into Wonder Hussy at the hot springs!
My Tomcat was enjoying his afternoon lapnap until the coyote's first yapping started then he was instantly alert rapidly looking around for the threatening predator. The second round of yapping illustrated how Zippy got his nickname, diving beneath the couch for safety!
I love that area. This is the right time of year for that area. You said fast and I started laughing. You have the only fast trip in and out. If you have been around the area long enough you remember training exercises that took the lives of a couple pilots in the 80's.
An Oscar Award Winner right there Sir BRAVO! That is the best video I have ever seen. Nobody has pics like that 90 degree bank! Man that feels like America right there! Red White and Blue come on now!!!
Tnx for bringing me to these remote places with you from night fallen switzerland, appreciate to look around and enjoy the great landscapes. You are living my dream , I am doing the same with my flight sim, haha, cu around
Juan! Loved this video! We went down to Saline Valley Warm Springs last year in our new to us 4wd diesel Winnebago and dry camped. Loved it! Walked out to the Chicken Strip and explored around.
My Dad in Canada follows you pretty religiously, and is going to love seeing this video by you to see all about where we told him about. Keep up the good work! 👍
Juan this video made me forget about all the gloom and doom in the world for a time and made me remember what is important. Mahalo
Chicken Strip n Hot Springs .. life is Good! Thanks for sharing Juan!
This is one of Wonderhussys haunts!
Been a lot of years sense I have been out there. I am envious of your ability to fly out there for a couple of days. Thank you for bringing your trip to us..
Best 24 minutes of today!
Could add best park of my week.
Awesome episode Juan - thanks! …….need more like these! Death Valley one of my favorite places in the dead of winter because it’s so much alive. Hat-tip to the RAF volunteers who keep this strip and so many other on national land pristine.
Good to see they have opened up the pools again. Didn't know there are coyotes in Saline Valley. Been going there since 1992. Have flown into the chicken strip a few times in a Cessna, 8 inch wheels and STOL kit helped greatly. There is so much to see in SV, hard to ever do it justice. The windy season is around March, April. Call a pilot in the Owens Valley, they can advise you. If you are spending time in the area, stop by The Cerro Gordo Silver Mine and offer to help Brent work on restoring the Ghost Town. The mine is off the south Saline Valley entrance, White Mountain Talc road. Scout it on maps before hand. The Cerro Gordo road eventually connects to highway 136 in Owens Valley.
Saline Valley used to be BLM land. This is when most of the pools and surrounding area grass and trees were planted. The problem is that the National Park took it over and can not leave well enough alone. While they allowed the runway to stay, they have put in place rules which are geared to eventually return the area to desert. NP service doesn't seem to understand they are to serve the people, not the other way around.
I would like to request that if you visit there, please show respect for the area. Take only photos, not of the nakid people, and leave only foot prints.
Favorite video you’ve done so far. Makes me want to get my taildragger rating! I always loved zipping through Panamint, Saline, and Shoshone at 500 feet and 500 knots, but you definitely make a case to stop and smell the roses down there!
Chicken Strip to Heathrow, love that commute - that's for sharing this one - wonderful cool weather trip!
I spent a week in Death Valley three years ago.
Fantastic spot for geology etc.
Great to know places like this exist! Kudos to the volunteers that maintain them.
Wow, even in the middle of nowhere the neighbor's dogs won't shut up! Hehe
Another great video Juan - I always enjoy flying with you and sharing in your wing-borne adventures.
Not that there is funny, I dont care what you say. Damn dog
Vince, do you live in my neighborhood? Because you described this place perfectly. Sounds like a freaking kennel around here.
Such a nice quiet place, only some coyotes and fighters passing by...
Wow!!! Just wow!! The coyotes sent shivers down my spine. The sights and sounds of this video are just amazing. Thank you for this content Juan. The meaning of life is living it!
One of your best vids JB! Zepp for the flyin, great footage of the valley, dogs at night, Maj. Tom... wow. Keep these up! Bravo!
Nothing better than flying over the Sierra with some Led Zeppelin...
Great post loved the background music ,. We also love the desert here in Australia most of our continent is desert. I recently drove thru the moon Plains north west of CooberPedy in South Australia it has almost identical landscape to Saline Valley. You are living the dream keep it up Juan.
IF I could give that one more thumbs up I would! We will have to add that to our remote exploring list, been all over northern Nevada, and Death valley, but never there. Love this kind of stuff, thank you Juan.
Concur!!!
I wish I had the freedom that you have. It's so nice that you can be able to fly in anywhere and enjoy the outdoors. Great videos Juan.
I thought you were going to take us through star wars Canyon, lol! Thanks & take care.
Thank you so much Juan for allowing me to "visit" Death Valley on a wonderful guided tour. You gave me a very entertaining digital experience. Well done!!
amazing its like the moon there was you on your own there i wish you were my dad amazing life
Yes-sir-e Juan. Such a grand experience fly-in camping in remote
places. Even OK with a camper or motorcycle. The very best way
to enjoy the shrinking remote country that is left. Peace, out.
Great video Juan.Ive gained alot of pleasure from your channel over the past 2 years .I worked in the aviation industry as a cabin trimmer and before that as a surface finish tradesman in the UK Airforce .My last contract (2015)was on the Airfrance 777 midlife cabin upgrade on several airframes at KLM base maintenance at AMS .Fantastic channel.
“The sound of freedom”
Excellent! 🇺🇸
Another wonderful video! Thanks Jaun!
So serene and beautiful. Love the dark sky and quietness..Last time I was in the area, we ended up driving to Death Valley from Vegas and did some stargazing! Thanks for the video, Juan!
The F in F/A18 stands for FREEDOM. thanks looks like a place I'd like to go.
Awesome. I am going to the Death Valley a couple of time a year for stargazing. Zero light pollution and pitch dark.
Hey Juan , awesome video! Remember
When flying over the mountains in a single engine aircraft to keep all your
Alternate landing strips within gliding
Distance . Preferably a road or somewhere close to civilization !
You have got all the talent needed
For these adventures ! But you still
Have to plan for the worst and hope for the best . Us aviators make our own luck
We don’t really on it ! Thanx for the tour
Of the hot springs I know I will never get out there ! I’m proud of you ! Captain Mark H Wirth
Excellent point about light GA mountain flying safety. Maybe he’s covered it before in his videos, but I was a little surprised Juan didn’t at least mention a few words about it. Just read about the very experienced F-18 pilot who augered into Star Wars canyon in July 2019 that Juan mentioned. He flew over those mountains so many times and trained so many others, he got a little too comfortable and complacent and paid the price in an environment with razor thin margins. Even in a slow prop job, your margins are small over the mountains if your engine goes out and you haven’t prepared for it.
@@phil4826 Hey Phil , thanx for recognizing
The potentials of engine failures over
The mountains and thanx for your input !
Great video of place we have never been. We did a lot of two dimensional explorations of Death Valley in our day and love the area. We're in our 70s now and don't get as far afield as we used to, so we appreciate this vicarious addition to our Death Valley memories.
Looks like an amazing place to stargaze. You captured some great shots of the F18s out playing. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along with you on mini vacation.
Boy, back in 1960 at the Boy Scout Camp on Casper Mountain, in February at 10 to 15 below, I had a ww11 surplus sleeping bag, a canvas ground cover and an old canvas tent. Several pairs of socks and my wool coat. Cotton gloves and my scout backpack with a tin cooking kit, and a couple of cans of Vienna sausage and beans. A jug of water and a wool cap. We sure were doing it wrong. :)
Amazing trip. You gotta bring your boy on these excursions. They are not nearly as good if you cannot share them with people you love.
I'm home recovering from surgery, and suffering from serious cabin fever. Your vlog from Death Valley really made me smile. Thanks, Juan!
That looks like a fun trip... thanks for taking us along.
For my extended trips, I like Mountain House MREs, available at Costco for a reasonable price ~$5 per meal. Each meal is mixed with 16oz of heated water, so 1 gallon water makes 9 meals. There's an excellent variety available, including a breakfast meal.Nice to see you enjoying your "down" time, you deserve it.
Both eerie and majestic at the same time, or maybe it was the music. Thanks for sharing Juan love your videos. My dog was freaking out, ears up at 8:48, Lol
SW deserts are amazing. Unreal. Especially in Spring! Thanks Juan!
I'm surprised you didn't run into "Wonderhussy" up there. I swear she knows every hotsprings from Mexico to the Canadian border!(;>)
That was fun, thanks for taking us camping!
I used to fly over all those areas in an A-7E and then F-18’s. We also took students along those salt islands for weapons training. Great video memory reminder.
My dogs went ape$h!+ at the sound of the coyotes! We have some resident coyotes here that have pissing them off at night all winter long. They were excited that maybe the coyotes showed up in daytime! You're living the dream! Those Huskys are built right down the road from me, I drool every time I go by!
Just Awesome Juan. Thanks for taking us along on your wonderful trip. I got to see sights through your video that I never would have seen, and learned about the hot springs. Very cool trip. I appreciate you taking the time to record this video for us to see!! Great job Juan!!! Happy and safe flying!!!
"The Sound of Freedom!" I Like it!
Fantastic vid Juan, looks like a blast! Amazing shots of the jets there at the end too!
I spent the late 60s & early 70s riding near here at Fort Irwin in a National Guard mortar APC ( M106 mortar carrier) training for Vietnam. This desert is beautiful and dangerous with insane hot days in the summer and winter that brings some really cold nights. You’ve got the best way to enjoy our deserts.
Those mountains looked formidable…
I have been at that clothing optional warm springs via 4-WD. THE ROAD IS LONG AND BUMPY . Take books to drop off at the Saline valley “Library”. It is well tended. by volunteers.
You should talk about the Sierra wave one of these times. Got almost flipped crossing over Olancha Pass one day. Also, from experience, turn your boots upside down and place on the chair at night. Scorpions love a warm boot to pass the night in.
Even the most experienced pilots have trouble in the mountains. Steve Fossett, the first to solo a balloon and an airplane around the world, crashed and died in the High Sierra.
Wow, I have not been in the Crystal Pool in over thirty years! I never had it once to myself as a kid in the 1980's! This video is my dream come true! Thank you Blancolirio for the time machine experience!!! Happy to see Major Tom after all these years! Met him as a ten year old kid out there, Major Tom Ganner is a wonderful, brilliant being!!!
You have a great life Juan! and well deserved. I do miss the Weightless tune however!
One of my favorite videos you have posted 🇺🇸👍✈️❤️
Thank you so much Juan for this outstanding video that allows us to tag along and experience such a special place thru your camera lenses and microphones and on your wings
Enjoyed this video, and and your sharing the breadth of your aviation related adventures. Thanks for letting us in on them.
Looks great sitting in Aberta Canada degrees at 0 degrees Fahrenheit
Beats driving in from the south pass :-) Thanks for sharing!
Having entered Saline Valley to the springs from Lone Pine, South Pass, and Lippincott Road, the Lone Pine is the easiest and Lippincott the hardest. All three are fun and worth the effort.
What a great place to fly to, the hot springs look very inviting, alas this will be difficult living in northern UK ! Look forward to you flying over us en route to LHR.
Great adventure! Thanks for sharing
Did some flying with a friend from Edward's to just north of whitney to some sand dunes, there were wild horses roaming around.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Breathtaking scenery about the coolest aircraft around. Thanks Juan!
That looks like a great place to get away from it all👍🙂
I went camping once back in 1990 at "Soggy Dry Lake" in the Lucerne valley area in California, with some friends that I worked with, a couple of them being aircraft mechanics, one bringing his airplane and the other bringing a helicopter that he rented, the rest of us driving in and bringing our ATV's, it was a great time and we had lots of fun with the airplane and the helicopter🙂
We even had some unexpected guests, when a man and his wife were flying over us and became curious about all of the fun we were having and decided to land and spend some time with us🙂
It was an awesome weekend🙂
Juan your camping trip in your airplane definitely has me thinking back to that weekend, you're as free as a bird with your airplane and it's great to see you enjoying it👍🙂
Loved that video Juan. Major Tom seems like quite the character. What a beautiful area to take a break away from the chaos. Thanks for taking us along.
Longtime watcher/appreciater/fanboy that loves your content. But, today your choice of music.....
was most excellent!!!
I can't get enough......Thanks!!!!!
Loved seeing you with Trent Palmer....Love to see you on a few more trips with Trent!!!
Lately got no strenght to watch anything, but how glad am i for concentrating on this. Like camping with Pete, yet entirely(ish) different vibe. That kind of silence wakes you up at night with pounding, then you realize its just your heart. Thank you.
The coyote sounds were epic! Thanks for taking us along for the adventure.
Coyote chasing the Roadrunner ?
Fantastic, Juan. Great balance of content in this one. Really enjoyed it.
NO WAY Mrs Browne is ever going to believe you now when you say you want a trip away to be ALL ALONE for a few days! Those young ladies in the hot pool BUSTED that idea to pieces Juan ! : -)
Great scenery around the 19:50 mark. Them Donkeys are wild and will get you into trouble stear clear! 😉😁
What a great adventure Juan! I wish I had my Super Cub down there, it's three degrees right now while I watch this here in Wasilla.
