    Now that you have tried something from Jamaica, I would love to see you guys go through Hampden, Long Pond (National Rums of Jamaica line) or Worthy Park. They are all quite different in profile, but also so good at the same time. They are probably one of my favorite if not favorite spirits.

    Also, Dutch if you or Delightful Dylan/Market Correction Jules wants to get more into Jamaican Rum I would recommend doing a Hampden Estate and Worthy Park Drinkthrough. Appleton tends to be the least “funkiest” since they typically go for blended rum (pot still + column still), Worthy Park is usually the middle of the pack in terms of funkiness and Hampden Estate is the most (Usually only Pot Still Rum). There’s also the Foursquare Probitas/Veritas which is a collaboration with Hampden Estate - one of my favorite white/lightly aged rums.

    Absolutely LOVE Appleton Estate! I keep their core lineup on hand at home, but I'm really looking forward to drinking as much of their super-rare rums as I can when I visit the distillery in December for my 40th!

    Appleton just recently released a 17 Year Legend Offering. $500 SRP! Only 1,500 Bottles.

    I've been traveling for a bit this summer, gotta catch up on your videos! Great to see you moving in to Jamaican rum. Totally agree with Delightful Dillon's "olive" note on the nose, it's something you can pick up in other rums too, especially the unaged ones which tend to be a bit bolder/weirder on the nose (but really rich and interesting).

    Dutch is right. "Hyper aging" doesn't necessarily make a spirit better. If it's a tropically aged rum, anything over 18 years or so can probably be considered "hyper aged"("continentally aged" rum can go longer). For Bourbon, that's perhaps 16+, and with Scotch, 26~30+? The reason why bourbon is younger than rum, is for the use of new oak. Hyper aged stuff is definitely more often unique. It may be great, it may be weird, it may be funky. It'll certainly be more expensive, but not necessarily better. We all need to know this so we don't go into it with unrealistic expectations.

      Local weather and climate have an impact on this as well. Kentucky where a lot of bourbon is aged has pretty extreme fluctuations of hot winters and cold summers, which can help make the barrels have more assertive effects in less time compared to Scotland.

    Wonder how this matches up with the 21 year, which I love.
    Great review guys, u just saved me $300.

    You need to do an Appleton DrinkThrough! Appleton is one of the foundation rums on my bar - lots of great cocktails are made with their rums (Signature, 8 year, and 12 year). I also like their 21 year as a sipping rum.

      I like the idea of the drink through for Appleton as well! I have only had up to the 15yr. I want to get the 21yr but it’s gone up to $190 in my area.

    (Haven’t watched video yet) My jaw dropped haha when I saw the title/thumbnail. I’m a huge fan of rum and Appleton is my favorite rum brand. For the blind taste you should also taste against the Appleton 21 and Worthy Park Select (Jamaican rum). The highest rated Appleton Rum that I’ve seen online is Appleton 25 Joy & Appleton 30

    How does the Appleton Heart series compare to the Foursquare ECS?

  • @cyama3661
    @cyama3661 Год назад +6

    This is one of those videos where the way you speak of the drink does not align to the score. "Wouldn't go back to it, it's getting worse, drying, sour, tannic..." Letting the label get in the way of the score.
