Man I love my Scx6. Bone stock it is pretty incredible. The only mods I have done one mine is Fine Laser body mounting system, Vitivon pan hard bar mount, and 3Brothers Anti-foams. It's great not needing the clips to mount the body. The plastic pan hard mount was caused inefficient steering. The Anti-Foams turned it into a effective crawler. Up hill, down hill, and side hilling way better.!!! Great looking rig Fran!!!🤘🤘🤘
I purchased the SCX6 Jeep, I love it. It is a beast. Thinking about just getting the body for the honcho. I use parallel batteries, and your going to need the V2 hobbywing programmer. Never ever use 4s batteries. It will slowly melt the grease in the transmission, and it will burnout over time. Your transmission will start to leak first, and then it will drain.
Steady Foams or 3Brc foams are a must. I have both and I think the Steady Foams actually fill the Proline Hyrax better than the 3Brc foams. That said, one set is $45 and the other is nearly a $100. If you're not gonna drive in wet conditions, I'd go with the Steady Foams and never look back. I installed a slightly better steering servo with a 10amp BEC and I have all the steering I need. This is probably my favorite truck.
my scx6 jeep is still hands down my favorite impulse buy. my only regret is not having the honcho version haha... incredible truck, went almost 3 months on the stock servo even though it's complete garbage, and then another year without any maintenance (finally stripped some wheel hexes and front axles fell apart). i need to get some proper steering parts now that I have an RS2500 NSDRC servo in it now but this thing never skips a beat. my favorite thing to do is strap my 10 scale to it, then my 18/24 scale to the 10 and drive them to a crawler spot, everyone gets a kick out of it hahaha
Had my Jeep for over a year now. My buddy has had his a couple of months longer. Apart from a scale aerial on mine and a custom painted body for his, they are totally stock and have performed faultlessly and still amaze me with what they can do considering the weight . Tempted to convert to the honcho body Love the look
I absolutely love mine. I added the clippers front body mount and the rear body hold open devices. Changed a little bit on the battery. Trays need to upgrade the servo some better tire foam and tires definitely help but with very minimal changes this thing is a beast.
Fantastic!! So many details an so big! Two things in my opinion: 1 portals....2 Spray black inner body (before white than black) and paint interiors. Ciao, Nanni
The 6 Honcho is definitely one of my favorite rigs to wheel..for its size, it’s super capable out here (PLBTF location is my local wheelin spot). Swampers & dual stage foam, a handful of Samix parts..dropped the cg a bit with softer (orange) springs & moved the lower shocks to the links (without any cutting)..pulled the box & spare tire, also..the ESC can be tuned with the Spektrum program box. Still on the stock servo (after correcting the slop with the panhard it’s still hanging in there)..no issues so far, but I do have a 5th scale servo on deck just in case..picked my 6 up in late Oct last year..only broke 2 parts on it since I’ve owned it & I’m not easy on it by any means lol..sheared a cross-pin in a front axle shaft & snapped the rod end on the servo link (my rowdy driving caused those parts to fail)..its a beast..solid rig for sure!😎🤙
The servo has plenty of power. Change the panhard mount as it flexes too much not letting the servo put all the power down. I have the SCX6 Jeep & the Honcho. They are so much fun! I also love my 1/8 scale Traction Hobby Cragsman Raptor pro which wheels so much better than a 1/10 scale. If you like crawlers you need to check out the Traction Hobby 1/8 scales. It's a happy medium between the 1/10 & 1/6 scale crawlers. When people see the scx6 at the crawler course they are shocked at how big it is in person, lol.
At the end of the day, it's about the terrain and crawling buddies. If you have big rocks and terrain and friends with the same scale vehicle, this can really pay dividends
Dream crawler right here, absolutely love big rc's, its just something about them that makes them that more exciting. Only thing is bigger = more expensive lol dont expect to own one of these for a long time unless a miracle happens. Great unboxing though, lots of useful infomation!
to me part of the fun is the portability and easy to find places to crawl. with a beast like that i would always need a real car to carry it and in a small european city is already hard to find good spots for a 1/10, cant even imagine for a 1/6. Also, the bigger the harder it is to find challenges to crawl, for example a pillow is huge for my scx24 and a little bump for my ftx ravine with 150mm wheels...
Thank you looking forward to seeing it out on the rocks. I wasn’t interested in the JLU version & 1100$ is a lot for a RC. But you get more then your moneys worth. Once I saw the Honcho version I knew I have to get one. I have a upgraded Honcho 1:10 scale so I was happy when they came out with this. I’ll probably get one in Spring or early summer.
My roommate has both of the SCX6s, and barely taken them out after he had to have them! The Honcho I don't think has made it out of the house outside of the box.
@@RCReviewChannel they don't break on bumps, they break when you let it roll down the hill like it's a 10th scale. If I could do it all over again I'd upgrade the front shock tower to aluminum to address the upper pan hard mount flex before buying a Servo.
When I first saw the scx6 jeep,I was skeptical as I thought it was just a gimmick and didn't expect axial to continue with it so I didn't bother getting 1. Now that axial is continuing this scale and brung back the honcho of all trucks,I was really excited and now I definitely want 1 but in tan, lol. It'll be interesting if they decide to expand the 1/6 line and make say the gladiator, capra or even the wraith. As for the body,I heard if you remove the d-rings in the rear, the body will fully flip open
I would like to say to anybody wanting the JLU Jeep version, mine has gone down the side of a mountain and off a cliff 2 times now and everything was perfectly fine.
The first guy I saw riding his SCX6 around in the driveway on Facebook, I said: "I'll take things I do while my wife is talking to others guys on the Internet for $200, Alex." The dude got really offended. Lol
I work at a hobby shop and we have a demo SCX6. A Traxxas TRX 4 High Trail will out crawl it. A High Trail’s axles are higher, and the center of the truck it higher…combined with a shorter wheelbase. My recommendation is to get a TRX4 High Trail and spend the other $550 on upgrade parts.
Not a good comparison 10th scale vs 6th straight axles vs portals, there will always be something that out performs another type of crawler and the scx6 is more of a trail rig out of the box. Its for people that want a large scale rc. If they want supurb crawling performance im sure they know what to get at this price point.
thankyou for an excellent informative upload! am thinking of one of these. The problem is both colours aren't exactly great. May get the sand one and weather it a LOT. Do you reckon it would look better darker? 👍🍺🇬🇧
Love your channel! At first I wanted to buy a Honcho. Then why spend $1100 on a RTR when you have to spend another $500 on parts to run it more than once? For the amount of money spent on this truck I can buy two Vanquish VS4-10's and still spend a lot less money. Seems like Axial really needs a redesign of the Honcho.
Honestly I’m not a fan especially at it’s price, I bought the redcat marksman for $320. I know it’s not as big but honestly a lot better deal, but thanks for sharing.
I definitely like it better than the jeep version lol. Either the videos don't do the steering angle justice or maybe it doesn't turn very sharp I can't tell
1500$ for us Canadians 😩 just on the verge of justifying its price point, it'll hurt the bank a tiny bit but I think the rig well worth the money considering how much all of us spend on upgrading other rigs, my scx10 is sitting at 1000$ with the purchase of the truck itself, I could have a scx6 if I just saved the money going into a scx10

And even Redcat was smart enough to give you a body stick to hold up their body on the Gen8. But it's a great looking vehicle.
Very true. I have the Jeep version. I bought it used and the first thing I did was swap the servo. The money I saved buying it used I’ve put back into it and then some making it good. I will say it’s one of my favorite rc trucks now. The Jeep body is a pain to take on an off. The honcho looks way better in that area.
The servo works great for crawling. It's the plastic panhard mount that flexes and doesn't let the servo put down the power. It's one of the Best servos to come with a RTR vehicle all of them are crap. You wouldn't be buying any RC car if the servo is what's holding you back. I fixed the flex with a brace on the axle and new shock towers and I still wasn’t happy with the servo. It was ok but when I needed the torque it didn’t have enough.
@@FarmerFpv Not True at all. I have a Redcat Gen8, Remo Hobby Honcho, and a LAegendary Grando for 3yrs, I've put more than 50 battery packs thru each of them and I haven't had a single problem with their steering servos; I haven't had to replace a single one and they are considered the 'cheaper' alternatives. The stock servo is fine for most people. The problem is the Panhard mounts flexing under load.
I see, I see. Great tip. Some folks reported the servo main bearing breaking on big bumps. Lots of weight and no servo saver.

The SCX6 platform is amazing and will be the new standard as opposed to the 1/10 scale. Once you drive one, it's difficult going back.
It's ok but it will always be a niche market because it requires new courses, a big space and tons of money!

Put a 4s on the battery mount on the back of the chassis with a strap. Then you have room for two 3s on each side. That way you can crawl forever.
