I get some people mention no service or dead battery on phone. This isnt an app to save you in every situation, this is just one of many ways you can be prepared. If your phone is dead then yeah you probably will be too.............jokes aside great app, definitely will download this in case i ever get my lazyass to go hiking
@@GaryJr530 my man, you severely underestimate the stupidity of most of the population, eps people who get lost in the wilderness if you think they ALL can figure out how coordinates work lol. The app is basically to stupid-proof the process for rescuers.
While the w3w is beneficial for many reasons...but I can't help but think there should be a better app that will instantaneously inform the dispatcher of their whereabouts (Once it is installed and open)...without needing a person replying. And while we're on the subject of what is that app will be useful for the dispatcher, it can be live streaming for evidence-based (to capture in the act), coordinates, or anything that support the dispatcher (or even support to the person who called 911)
I can see this helping in open areas, but what if you're in a multi-story building? say you've been kidnapped, blindfolded, you're in an apartment building (or worse, in a basement), will it, at best, know what area of the building you're in (northwest corner, more towards the middle, etc.), but not the apartment number? the police will have to check every apartment & room
Well this is mostly used for search & rescue (like for example what happened to the hikers in this video), not really useful for any police raid operations
Ok, I don't get it....a computer or gps is figuring out their location in order to generate those three words....so in theory 911 could directly get their location from the computer/GPS that's already calculated it before hearing those words....isn't this just adding an unnecessary step???
You have to be on the line to be able to pinpoint your location genius, that takes time compared to clicking on a link that sends you your own location. Having a 3rd party to identify you will take time and minutes count.
Your if you don’t have service your screwed unless you have the new iPhone with satellite service. Or and Apple Watch ultra with a way to back track your trail. So you know where you came from
What a guy who created this... not only fabulous, but also free, seeing he could have probably made a boatload of money off this thing!!!
fun fact: He makes millions from the app already (google play pays 0.1$ CAD per download)
@@Idiosyncrasy He deserves every Google cent.

“Text. Not. Received.”
Out of luck🙁
i laughed way too hard at this comment

An incredible tool to save lives! This is really smart.
I laughed so hard when she told the police officer "you made it" 😂
I bet she was about 5 feet off the roadway.

Google maps also just has the latitude longitude but ig that’s confusing
Thank God they had a signal
This is such an incredibly simple idea. It just takes a few programming keys to make yet its use is invaluable in a lot of situations
"Checked, chatted, textiles" - Why she say it like that at the end 😭
This is incredible!
I L💖VE What 3 Words! It is so precise…it is fun to use the app to map specific events’ locations.
Excellent idea! Thanks!
I love this app, it's an incredible yet simple idea!
And why is this better than the exact coordinates the GPS can provide to 911?
much simplier
Exactly....and why wouldn't the person themselves open their map app? 🙈

This is just a low key giant ad for the app
Wow. What a wonderful way to implement new technology.
Absolute GENIUS
A UK app goes to help save lives again! ❤

We will be sure to send some tea and biscuits on chewsday as a gift

They send you a link? How is this going to work in areas with bad/no reception i.e. places that people get lost?
You probably won't be calling 911 if service is that bad anyway
@@angiepangie989 LOL
@@angiepangie989 why dont they just use google maps?
It doesn't
It does also work without a phone signal. See the videos on RUclips.
Im an electrical contractor in a rural area and use this App Genius!
Very smart, everyone need to download this app.
The disadvantage is that in the forest we often have no access to the telephone network !!
Bro I love officer Cummings.
I’d have 2 words - No signal 😅
Idk why I laugh when she said “you made it”
Wow this help so fast I wonder if it works in the ocean or all USA.This guy probably make some good money
This is so awesome this will safe lifes
When she called and put it on her ear it wasn't on a phone all💅
My three words: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Fantastic app
😳 WoW anything saves lives is good
This is scary.. And smart 👀
Save your self
WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE WIFI …????
It works offline too
GPS!!!!
Have you ever left the house before? Mobile data, it exists. And GPS doesn't use the internet I don't think.
Worst 3 words : Battery One Percent 😰
Help. I'm. Lost.
My phone said "Car. extended. warranty."
Well, so much for us T-Mobile customers. We’ll never be found because of no signal. 😢
Do all 911 centers use this?
If not, it still may be hard to find you.
All have to be synced...they can't have their own opinions whether to use it or not.
Now what to do if the person is deaf mute or blind.
Well this is a pretty brilliant invention😲
I tried the app today and it works so well
That’s really good 😊
Good luck clicking on a link in this situation
what if there is no cell signal to call 911?
That’s pretty amazing !
I got 5 words?! Person, woman, man, camera, TV
Genius!
Well, I'm better with the new IPHONE having emergency satellite functions, cell phones from now on will have this feature.
I guess I don't understand the reason for turning GPS coordinates into a three word combination...
Yea but what if theres no reception to call 911 or receive their text message?
To the App Storrrreee… AwaaaAAAAAYYYYY
So the only downfall is that if you lost reception. You're pretty much screwed right?
But instead of opening a link, just share your gps location
That might not always work for one your location can be really bad or two not everyone Uses GPS
can already see this being abused

If only there was a map app that could do this
If obly
So you can locate lost tribes in the Amazing forest now? giggity
Yeah thats pretty cool

Well the thing is someone will try to exploit this.
The app good in all but what happened if your cellphone does not have Signal and you can’t call 911
Unless you have no reception because you use T-Mobile
What if there is no cellphone signal?
Hard to do in areas that DO NOT have GPS signal or any Cell Towers nearby to get a Signal at all. Making the App useless in that case.
What happened if you can’t say words correctly
Talk about billion dollar idea
Or just use GPS coordinates.
Google should buy and integrate into maps
What happens if you have no service???
It's not 10f x 10f. It's 3 meters square ....
What if you have no service
What’s wrong with coordinates?
I like this
What happen to coordinate and to send your location from your phone?

Is this an international thing? Or only US?
Am i right saying that it wouldn't work in a building because location system is 2D only?
works great if you can afford cell phones.
does it work without internet
why no coords?
This is also great for kidnappers!
I love you lisa guerrero deal with it.

Google maps...
*Phone Battery Dead*
I thought this looked potentially helpful
That app would be useless in my area it's a dead zone for gps and cell phones.
So if you have a signal, why not open a maps app? You can get exact GPS coords, what's the difference?
imagine wasting the polices time for a demonstration 😭
It was probably his time off
I think it was planned because there were cameramen and everything.
They were clearly in on it! They’re probably quite happy to help spread the word.
