  • El Hombre is a fan favourite in Supercross and a multi-time champion and after over 10 years as a pro, it looks like he is just getting started. The last few weeks have been insane in the 450 class so naturally we spoke about some of the chaos, we get into his championship season and how he came to resent that title and much more! Away from the track Hopefully this podcast gives you a look into the mind of a complex and creative human, who just happens to be super good at riding a dirtbike!
In this clip from the full show Ando talks about the crazy feeling on the day after he won his 2018 AMA Supercross Championship.

The best insight I've ever heard into the presure these guys go through. Even after reaching the top, the presure still increases. I developed a whole new appreciation for Anderson, for just his honesty and his approach to his career. For Jason being happy is more important than anything, I dig that.

What a crazy interview so raw. Interesting to hear that winning a championship actually put him into a weird state of mind like it wasn't enjoyable. People don't understand the responsibility and time it takes to be on top. And what goes along with it. More sponsors who want to take more of ur time. Yea the paychecks are nice. But the expectations I'm sure are super high and super stressful.

Really appreciate the honesty. We live in a world with so much superficial and hype that we need interviews like this. In reality, what he went through is very important to personal growth. It’s situations like this that cause you to pause and ask what is real and what is really important in life. Most will go to their grave never asking or knowing.

I have always loved Jason Anderson. I feel bad he missed the high of such an amazing accomplishment. An accomplishment that is harder than climbing Mount Everest. The respect and complete awe I have for any rider that can even win One race let alone a championship is off the charts. I hope he can win another championship and milk it for all it's worth. Although I do understand parts of what he's saying but I sure hope he could win another one and really enjoy it.

You can’t make progress without accepting what your emotions actually are. For right or for wrong, you have to face the real emotions in order to process them. Glad to see that Jason has been able to breathe new life into his career. I hope he can get another title.

That was an eye opener, pretty sucky that JA21 felt that way after the title. But the limited info I know on US MX & SX there seems to be a common theme on riders being mentally destroyed or hating the thought of racing. Shoot me down if I’m wrong, the theme seems to be Aldon Baker.

Him deliberately doing bad doesn’t surprise me. After his title in 2018 and the talent he displayed there’s no reason he should have gone winless for the next few seasons on genuine talent alone. I remember watching one of the Atlanta races last year and Jason had to go to the LCQ and he was so fast in that LCQ it was hard to believe. I genuinely believe he went the fastest anybody went that night in that LCQ. In that moment I realized that he never lost it and the old Jason was still there
