    A better title: "Benedict Cumberbatch reads a letter from an aspiring actor, whom you may have heard of." Cumberbatch carries the weight up front, and you listen/watch to find out who the actor is. The big reveal comes at the end.

    • @benbehrenfeld9379
      @benbehrenfeld9379 3 года назад +3

      I would not have clicked on that video. Tom Hanks’ letter is the pull, not Cumberbatch reading a letter.
      Edit: this video is also 5 years old

    • @alwaysuseless
      @alwaysuseless 3 года назад +11

      @@benbehrenfeld9379 A not surprising reply. I'm sure many would agree with you, but you don't do justice to the suggestion of how to draw viewers in without a spoiler (and perhaps aren't bothered by spoilers). The suggestion is not just "Cumberbatch reading a letter," but "Benedict Cumberbatch reads a letter from an aspiring actor, whom you may have heard of." Expressed that way, the draw is BOTH Cumberbatch AND an actor you may have heard of (intended to pique your curiosity). A better solution might be "Benedict Cumberbatch reads a letter from an aspiring actor who became a beloved Oscar-winner." If that still doesn't do it for you, then fine. Imo, it's a better title. Accordingly, I'll post anew this revision. Thanks for inspiring further thought on the problem.

    Note to Benedict: When doing an American accent, don't pronounce it like "shedule". It's "skedule", dammit.

    I wonder why he chose to miss the Americanization of "schedule"? Had to be a choice. Interesting.

      Nah . . . a simple mistake explains it very easily.
      The same reason he missed the “r” in the middle of “superstar” and near the end of “Robert”.
      Brits routinely skip those R’s and some American dialects do as well, but Tom Hanks voices them clearly.
      If Mr Cumberbatch had been given multiple takes - and a little correction from a movie director - he surely would have gotten it perfect. But this was LIVE, so . . .

      Tom Hanks did it the traditional way; regional theatre, NYC, bad sitcom, the rest is history.
      If you've never seen it, you should RUclips search "Bosom Buddies."
