thank you for explaining this ...helped me a lot..
Amazing! You are welcome!
Thanks ❤
You're welcome!
Im confused. When you say inhale opening - does that mean I should relax or contract my muscles? Conversely, on the exhale what should I be doing. I don't know wht "opening and coming back up means". Thanks
Great question! It's all about learning how the core and pelvic floor system works and it is a whole body approach because there are so many connections to the pelvic floor like: breathing, hips, back, posture, and more. When we inhale the diaphragm goes down lengthening pelvic floor and when we exhale the diaphragm comes back up with gentle lifting of the pelvic floor. There is so much more to it, but in general that is the connection with our breath & pelvic floor. It is a system that works automatically that can sometimes need some retraining, but should eventually be something we do not think of.
Thank you for making these distinctions with kegels.
You are welcome! Glad you found this helpful! Keep up the good work!
@@DrMelissaOleson If I may ask a question...I have a pronounced pelvic organ prolapse (had a hysterectomy over 20 yrs ago)...mostly a rectocele but I can tell my other organs have dropped too) and there's a rather pronounced bulge. I can't always get the bulge pushed up to stay above my pelvic floor muscles...so should I still do kegels if the bulge is low and below the floor muscles? Thanks.
Well, i wanna ask can we do kegels while having urine retention, i mean having a bit urine leftover in bladder ?
Everyone is different with what works best for them and I always recommend checking with your healthcare provider for what is best for you. My clients that have difficulty with retention work on relaxing the pelvic floor and breathing exercises 💗

How to come to know that Kegels contractions are improper?
Years of learning about how the body works and specifically the core & pelvic floor system. Plus working with thousands of clients over the years seeing that they were either not improving, getting worse, or doing kegels improperly.
Where’s the exercise?! Clickbait
This video is about whether or not you should kegel and how to do it properly and is not clickbait. Therefore it walks you through the proper technique and strategy of how to strength pelvic floor muscles. How the exercise is done is key verses just doing exercises.
