3/4 cup butter or hard margarine
2/3 cup of brown sugar packed
1/2 milk
1/3 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups of graham cracker crumbs
1 cup of chopped walnuts ( we used 1/4 of coconut instead)
12-13 Whole graham crackers
Coffee icing
1 1/4 cups icing sugar
1/4 cup cocoa sifted if lumpy
3 tbs of butter or hard margarine softened
1 1/2 tbs Hot strong prepared coffee ( we use 2 1/2 tbs of coffee)
Line an ungreased 9x9 pan with first amount of Graham crackers, cutting to fit, set aside.
Combine the next 3 ingredients in a large saucepan.
Bring to a boil on medium, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
Add chocolate chips stir until melted, add the cracker crumbs and walnuts, stir well.
Spread evenly over crackers in pan. Cover with second amount of graham cracker, cutting to fit, cool.
The coffee icing
Beat all 4 ingredients in medium bowl, adding more coffee or icing sugar as necessary until spreading consistency.
Spread evenly over graham crackers.
Let stand, covered for at least 6 hours or overnight until crackers are softened.

Chocolate and coffee, how can this not be delicious 😊
Looking forward to making these! Love the coconut idea.
Hope you enjoy 😊
Yummy...thank you!
looks good
Yummy!
I would try them with walnuts as I don’t care for coconut. They look very tasty!
Kevin & Michelle thanks to the both of you for sharing. Those look wonderful!
Thanks. They are 😊
These look scrumptious - cant wait to try them. Thank you so much for sharing 🌸💜🌸💜🌸
Thanks. Hope you like them. 😊
I had all of her cookbooks including the small 3x5 but alas gave away a lot of them and one was the squares and so glad you are making these squares. I will make them this week. Thanks Michelle for presenting these wonderful recipes from wonderful cookbooks
Thanks Patricia. That would be a huge collection. 😊. I hope you enjoy this. We sure do.
Looks great!
Thanks! 😊
Those do look good. I am not a coffee fan, but could use milk instead. Thanks for sharing! I hope y'all have a good week. ❤ and 🙏
Great thank you ;) companys coming are great cook books agreed ! excellent subs too! Id prefer coconut as well so thanks for that M and K !
They look so good and I love making bar cookies, so much easier than drop or rolled cookies. I think I would prefer the coconut too but may have to make a batch to test the nuts. Like someone suggested I think they would be best if they were ground.
Looks tasty! Reminds me of one I make with grahams in layer with chocolate and vanilla pudding in between. Tha cool whip on top! Have a good week! Prayers! God bless! ❤❤
You too! 😊
Oh wow so going to try this but will have to do substitutions for the sugar and use my sugar free baking supplies. I have to try and watch your videos way earlier LOL.
I just found my copy of Company's Coming 150 Delicious Squares by Jean Pare! It is published in 1981, but has a different cover than yours. The recipe that you demonstrated is on page 40 in my copy, but is called Chocolate Oh Henry Squares. The recipe is exactly the same as the Chocolate Coffee Bars. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone has the same copy.
Thanks again for the demonstration of this recipe. I does look like a winner!
Oh very interesting. Thanks for sharing. 😊
I have that book lol. I am planning on doing some from there too I can’t remember if I shared out of it on the channel yet. I too have to tweak it as well . Nice easy recipe but so so good.
Hey Jerri-ellen. I noticed there are a lot of recipes in this book with the same frosting recipe. Other ones I will try sometime. A lot of recipes that call for graham crackers too. 😊
I am not familiar with that line of books, but my aunt had a lot of 'entertaining' books and I truly enjoy reading those,(and trying some recipes!)
Nice; I do like coconut, but I would be inclined to make them with walnuts...I'd be inclined to try both ways!
Hi Tonette. I am sure the walnuts are delicious. I love them, my teeth don’t. 😊 Company’s Coming has a lot of entertaining cookbooks.
@@HerCookbookShelf Have you tried grinding the walnuts, Michelle? You get the flavor and no hard chewing. Just a thought.I hate to see you lose out .
Oh I could, but I definitely don’t feel like I am missing out. 😊.
