    If you supinate the wrist as the arm goes into the lay-back position, then your arm will naturally pronate during the release - however with greater power as supination provides the power source - not pronation. This I call Power-Pronation. You will also have a quicker release and better spin (in this case due to increased friction as the ball is pulled across the body). This will all make sense when you learn some simple physics in connection with human biomechanics. Much easier to understand than quantum mechanics. Yes, I've taught that as well.

      A little vague but there does have to be ulnar deviation to coincide with pronation. Other than that I agree with a lot of what you have to say here.

    Hey Coach When i Throw a Football For like even like 5 Mins My Inside of my elbow hurts like crazy and continues to hurt for like 2 days got any idea what im doing wrong because im a newer QB in highschool

      Probably opening up with your front shoulder too quickly.. Also, maybe be doing too much pure extension in the elbow instead of rotation in the arm/shoulder.

    I agree that the wrist should not be in extension. But if ur saying it’s bad to throw sidearm because of lack of external rotation, I don’t fully agree with that. There are many qbs like Aaron Rodgers who throw more sidearm because that happens to be more mechanically advantageous for their levers

    • @Performancelabofcalifornia
      @Performancelabofcalifornia  2 года назад

      Are you saying that Aaron Rodgers throws harder side arm than when he throws more over the top?

    • @swastikgrover3414
      @swastikgrover3414 2 года назад

      I guess I should correct myself. I assumed he throws sidearm harder because that’s often how he throws in game. (My theory which could be very wrong is since sidearm creates longer radius, it means the rotation of the torso would contribute more to the torque)
      You mention how more external rotation is proven to add velocity and throwing in some position inhibits the qb’s ability to externally rotate.
      If I’m applying my theory, I feel like the higher velocity with more external rotation would be the case for comparing two different throws that are both over the top.
      And I feel like baseball pitches are sidearm and external rotated like this: els-jbs-prod-cdn.jbs.elsevierhealth.com/cms/asset/c29b5c39-111e-47a2-8ab9-7a0759fcfb3d/gr1.jpg

      I should also say, I don’t even play Qb or know much shit about throwing, just a Wide Receiver who studies physics and is a student of the game lmao

      @@swastikgrover3414 yeah so you aren’t wrong in terms of getting the ball away from the head does add more velocity.. But there is a point of diminishing returns. The ball wants to be slightly outside the elbow but once that forearm angle gets below 45 degrees it quickly becomes ineffective..
