Thanks coach, i was struggling to throw a perfect spiral but after few minutes of practice with some adjustments following your tips, i can say that i love the sensation when you thow perfect spirals ✨amazing
Love it coach! That last drill is very convenient, you can literally do it anywhere, I’m really trying to work on consistency before HS, this is helping ALOT, thanks!
Thanks so much! I love all your videos and im always improving my game. Im a wide reciever/ safety and my coach says i throw sidearm so he doesent let me play qb. This summer i have been practicing alot to try and impress him this upcoming season. If you were my coach would you let me play even though i have a touch of sidearm?
Absolutely! Thank you for the feedback- most of the time unofficial visits can be scheduled through the recruiting department of the school. Anyone can take one, so if you just call and reach out chances are they will set you up
Hi coach, I can't seem to keep hold of the ball, every time I pull my arm back when I go to throw the ball slips out of my hand. I use rubber balls as its hard to find any other kind here in the UK. Any tips as to keep a good grip on the ball?
Would suggest working on strengthening your grip or licking your fingers (I know it seems gross) before the snap. That can give you some extra stick and grip to hold the ball and working on your grip strength will obviously make things a lot easier
What I like to say is imagine your boxing you never want your arm high because it's gonna miss the punch (do what's comfortable if it's naturally high don't worry) or too wide of a arm is gonna be all over the place and hit your hip and it hurts so stay in your natural slot
Idk how to explain it that much but imma try. Ok so I watch film frm myself if bad throws n good throws my realease point for my bad throws are right arnd 90 degrees when I realease it my hood throws I kinda have my arm extended more if I can send u a screenshot of it that would be cool.(for my deep throws)
Hey man we do form breakdowns on our website- I really think you’d get a lot of value from it! Here is the info www.firstdowntraining.com/plans-pricing
Im 47. Body is so broken down from genetics and so many injuries and surgeries over the years. And even with a non-repaired torn labrum in my throwing shoulder of 12 years, I still have a rocket and still effectively qb flag teams. I still have high-end velocity, but don’t have the depth on the deep ball that I always had. Used to be able to hit 60+. Now barely hitting 50. Weird because it seems like there’s no drop off in the short and intermediate throws. Any thoughts as to why and how I can get the deep ball distance back up? Perhaps it’s just age at this point. I’ve always had an undisciplined front side. Been working on it. But when under duress or throwing the deep ball, I definitely revert to old habits. Also, you talked about grip. I’ve got small hands. For whatever reason the third rung is the only spot my ring finger can be in order to have total control. Sometimes it’ll hover between the second and third, and I’m fine. But if it’s ever sitting directly on the second rung, I lose accuracy and it’s never a tight spiral. Most people seem to be on the second, and that doesn’t work for me for some reason, probably hand size. Nothing I can do about that, huh? Anyway, been watching your stuff on youtube and insta for a bit now. Awesome stuff! Keep it up, brother!
Appreciate you sir, thank you for sharing! So for the grip honestly I wouldn’t change. If a QB has a grip that’s “irregular” and it’s comfortable and he can spin it… I personally don’t mess with it. As far as the deep ball goes it’s honestly tough for me to say without seeing you throw. I think some if it could be age maybe some of it is you’re losing control of the ball. Since you have smaller hands I suggest doing some stuff for your grip strength 3-4x per week. Just simple things can help you control the ball so much better throughout your motion. Hope this can help and I really appreciate the support!
@@firstdowntraining thanks, brotha! I’m guessing age. Weird to me because the velocity seems to be the same as it ever was on the short and intermediate throws. When I have to put extra on a deep ball, I sometimes cut the ball instead of snapping - and know that it’s a shit ball right when it leaves my hand. I’m out here in Korea. We’ve got our flag playoffs on one of the bases here on Saturday. Have a good one!
I think it depends on maturity level. I don’t train anyone over the age of 8- I just don’t feel they are ready. But you meet some 10,11 year olds who clearly aren’t ready from a maturity standpoint. I think it’s just case by case
I am having trouble throwing with my index finger, for some strange reason the last finger to leave is my middle finger and my release looks like this 👉 any tips? i tried to throw taking my middle finger off the ball but nothing is helping getting my index finger to leave the ball last to get that perfect spiral. thank you coach!
I would try to focus on applying more pressure with your index finger on the ball and when you release, focus on pronating your wrist. AKA turning your palm away from your body, it can help with spin
How do I do it man when the football goes out from my hand it feels uncomfortable and it does not feel right it also does not feel like the index finger does not touch the ball last even after I flick my wrist it makes me feel like giving up
Try to apply more pressure to the ball with your index finger. Don’t grip the ball overly tight- just with your index finger apply a little bit more pressure

Yeah I don’t mind the lower arm slot as long as the ball gets there and you are consistent. If it effects accuracy then I would try to change it
Hey coach, can you make a video on how to schedule an unofficial visit.
