I think they mentioned before that they saved up a lot and shaabas grandma (I think) gave them the idea of saving every 2 pound coin so after a while you end up with a bunch of cash

Another way to buy a house early is to buy the worst house in the best neighborhood then create a priority To-Do list and after tackling the safety issues first, then check off one thing at a time doing nearly everything yourself and buying second hand. Stop buying fashion new- even on sale and stop eating out- no coffee or bar drinks either. Use your library for books, magazines and movie rentals. Your savings will grow faster than you’d think. Wanting everything done immediately is too expensive for anyone.

The best way to renovate your house for cheap is to have a massive extended family and ask one skilled relative to do one small thing for free, asking your other skilled relative to do something else for free etc. Then you get second hand furniture (for free) from whatever relatives want new furniture and make do with whatever scraps you can get for free from factories leftovers. You can get so much wood and fabric from a furniture factory and you can make your own shelves and you can use the fabric and make couch covers out of them if your second hand couch is a bit tarnished or the wrong colour
Your house is super cool! It's neat seeing other people's places and how they make it their own home. It also helped with some ideas, my parents and I have been in our house for ten years and we still don't know what to do with our space 😂
I loved hearing about your house reno. It's so frustrating when you find stuff during renovation that should have been made clear before buying the house. I had that with patio doors (that all but fell out of the wall), possible asbestos, broken floor beams and a broken boiler. It sucked. I also have tonnes of artsy stuff to do still after 3 years. I think the worst thing was the red paint I used that was supposed to be a nice spiced Moroccan red. Let's say it congealed over night is streaky clumps and made my dining room look like a horror film. It's been so good doing a house at the same time as you even though I don't know you. It's been a comfort.

@@shaaba It is. We got most things like the patio doors and full rewire done immediately but there's some things we were going to do but the budget was consumed by other stuff. I've had so many problems with the house but I'm still greatful to have a roof over my head. Btw I was the person on the live stream with the broken boiler. Tried putting a plaster on it 😂. Didn't help much but I'm happy to say my partner and I got given a new boiler for Christmas. So we managed to get heating up and running before the worst parts of winter. Plus the town I live in now is so nice and friendly. Plus this crazy situation is the perfect time to be catching up on my artsy projects. I've spent most of the time making artwork for my Hall and baby blankets for charity.

Our house really needs a spruce up (especially the bathroom) which we were planning to do after our wedding. But obviously with the c-word stuff that's off the cards for a while.

I painted my daughter's room in diagonal color blocks of Rosie pink and powder blue. I've never seen anyone do diagonal color blocks before this.
